About BAART Programs Norwood
BAART Programs Norwood is a specialized addiction treatment center in Sacramento, California. They treat opioid addiction including addiction to prescription pain medications, heroin or fentanyl.
This is an outpatient treatment program that takes an evidence based approach by addressing both the physical and the mental aspects of addiction. For the physical side they use medication assisted treatment or MAT. That means they give you medications like methadone or buprenorphine which block your opioid receptors. This reduces your cravings and your physical addiction symptoms and makes it less tempting to relapse.
Meanwhile, they address the mental aspects of addiction through counseling and therapy. You’ll have a counselor for individual therapy, and they’ll be your main point of contact who will help plan your recovery journey and get you what you need to succeed. Along with individual counseling, you’ll have group therapy with others who are experiencing opioid addiction. You’ll also have thorough addiction education so you’ll learn about addiction and how to prevent a relapse.
There are a couple things that make this treatment center unique among MAT clinics. First, they offer guest dosing, so if you’re in an MAT program and are visiting Sacramento they can get you medication during your trip. Second and most notably, they have a special take home medication program through Sonara Health. It’s an advanced system in which you can take home a methadone bottle, and there’s an app you can use to take a video of yourself taking your medication so they can monitor your dosage.
Clients have excellent feedback about this treatment center. They say that it’s clean and safe and that the team here treats you as a person who’s deserving of a better life. A lot of clients have developed a strong bond with their counselors who have supported their recovery for years, and they give these counselors a lot of credit for their success.

Levels of Care
Outpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
Medically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatment
Opioid Addiction
Opiate Addiction Treatment Centers specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction.
Substance Abuse
Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.
Clinical Services
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.
Group Therapy
During group therapy, men and women learn to express their emotions openly in a non judgmental setting. This helps you process your feelings and reduces feelings of social isolation that are often associated with addiction.
Individual Therapy
In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.
Motivational Interviewing
Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.
Family Therapy
Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.
Life Skills
Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.
