About Aultman Medical Group Behavioral Health and Counseling Center

Aultman Hospital provides medical and support services for clients of all ages in and around Canton, Ohio. Their Mental Health Services Department is located at their main campus. Here, you can find outpatient services to help you address a range of conditions, including co-occurring issues like substance use disorder.

I like that their facility gives you two different options for treatment. If you need more frequent services, you can enroll in their intensive outpatient program. In this program, you’ll be required to attend daily counseling sessions with groups of your peers who are facing similar challenges as you. The goal of this treatment is to empower you and help you build independence as you recover. They also want to give you tools to improve your quality of life and cope with stress as it occurs. If you don’t need quite as frequent meetings, they also offer general outpatient counseling services designed around your needs and timeline.

Here, their treatment services are customized to meet your requirements and recovery goals. In addition to counseling, some of the other services they offer include psychiatric assessments and medication management. In their approach, they incorporate several evidence based practices including dialectical behavioral and expressive art therapies.

I had been coming here for nearly a decade and had to stop. They changed their scheduling policies to make it impossible to get steady appointments. You may get 1 appointment every 1-3 months. They are not capable of offering the level of care people need.Additionally, ANGEL at reception is SO RUDE. She looked me in the eye and told me they "manage their waitlists." Then, a counselor told me that they "don't really check those" and she has to keep her own waitlist. ANGEL'S lie prevented me from getting care when I had two months between appointments. Not only that, ANGEL interrupts constantly, and she even hung up on me once. The practice manager, DEBORAH, is also quite cruel, and she refuses to call me back about my issue. Every negative review here gets a response to contact the practice manager, but that's pointless because she won't respond. Now, I am leaving the practice, and I was told I'd have one more appointment with my counselor. But they canceled without telling me. The last 3 weeks I thought I had an appointment, then I call today to double check the time, and they tell me the appointment was cancelled...AND NO ONE BOTHERED TO TELL ME. Do you want this to happen to you? This used to be a great place, but the changes they've made in the last few years have ruined Aultman Behavioral Health. Even a local crisis counselor who I've spoken to says he avoids recommending patients here. Their reputation is crumbling not just among patients, but among other professionals, too. Take it from someone who spent almost 10 years here, take it from the professionals--there are other more supportive places in the area. Don't lose hope because of your experience here. I've started working with CommQuest and so far they've been very kind and understanding. The crisis counselor I spoke to recommended Coleman Professional Services as well. I would try either one of these before ever considering Aultman Behavioral Health.

Accepted Insurance

Aultman Medical Group Behavioral Health and Counseling Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

ECT is a form of treatment in which controlled electric currents are passed through the brain, sometimes causing short seizures. Treatments are done under general anesthesia. ECT appears to change brain chemistry for the better, and has been shown to provide fast and sometimes dramatic improvements in severe mental health conditions that can exist alongside addiction, including depression, bipolar disorder, psychosis, and suicidality. ECT is also often used by those who prefer it to taking medication.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

All the staff was nice and they took great care of me. They were able to answer all my questions plus offer further instructions that would assist me in the future. I was pleased with the way things were handled. They turned a negative situation into a positive

I cannot recommend ever coming here. They say they are all about the patient and want a personalized experience and do pyschiatric evaluations. They are straight up lying.I came in with very serious issues that affect my daily life and saw Dr. Snavely. I had to be the one to explain to him what multiple mental disorders even are. On top of that he spoke with me for only 10 minutes, was condescending the entire time, then ended by saying they cannot do evaluations or diagnosis. He spoke for only 10 minutes about serious, life altering issues, then offered me nothing. No resources, no plan, no appointments, nothing. He ignored all my symptoms and issues to ask about non related things.Dr. Snavely is by far the worst Dr I have ever seen. The patient should not be explaining to a pyschiatrist what disorders that can be found in the DSM-5 are. You should take more than 10 minutes to discuss with someone over serious problems and offer any amount of help. I cannot recommend this place in good conscious. This neglicience by Dr. Snavely could lead to serious consequences for his patients.

I literally just met this Mark Snavley, or as I currently think of him as, Dr.InbredRedHeadedStepChildGingerWithNoSoul Snavley! I meet with him to discuss severe mental health issues I have, explain that I have unfortunately had drs in the past place me on meds, send me to work saying I'll be fine, the side effects to these meds are minimal, and the side effects were not, and I ended up once placed on a final write up, almost losing my job behind some adverse side effects. I told this pos Dr that I pay for short and long term disability, and it covers medication regiments, long as the dr fills out the paperwork. Even told him my own boss was the one that told me to use that short term disability, that if I'm ever going through a medication regiment, to not jeopardize my job when you have disability benefit coverage.Mr. Mark Snavely, I won't even refer to him as Dr since doctors are suppose to care, be empathic, and understanding! NOPE! This dude just wants to begin placing me on what he believes is medication with low side effects, even tho there are ppl that have experienced bad side effects on the drug, THIS so called "doctor" believes I won't experience those side effects and finds it unnecessary to fill out the paperwork to take me off of work! I, again, try to explain to this quack, I've been told that in the past by quack Drs, and I, unfortunately, listened, and once almost lost my job behind those adverse side effects. Quack didn't care, he knows better, he has a PhD!I attempted to explain to this quack for what felt like the umpteenth time that I have had drs in the past 12-15yrs tell me same thing about a certain drug, yet I experience the side effects! Again, explaining all i explaned already to him, yet im ignored! We literally discussed this multiple times in our 15min meeting, yet this quack, like the other quacks, thing they know better, that I know nothing, not even my own body! This so called "doctor" is a self absorbed pos quack that peddles out the drugs, but doesn't want to do anything else! I believe Dr.Snobby, he just didn't want to fill out paperwork, too lazy for that apparently!I know the auto-generated response from Aultman Behavior Health will tell me they're so so sorry for how I feel, and to call some number to help resolve what issues I have. What issues I have can be resolved when Aultman Behavior Health fires this quack Mr. Marky Mark Snobby Snavley, and if your reading this review, you obviously see the overwhelming fan base this quack has, read the majority of reviews, we all saying about the same thing, this dudes a quack. And Aultman Behavior Health, listen to the patients, get rid of this quack! Hope this review helps ppl to stay away from this so called "doctor" or the facility in general!

I've been trying to get set up with one of the groups offered here. It's taken several phone calls. Stacey was great on the phone, but today when I finally got a call back about insurance and scheduling, everything went downhill.I have never been made to feel like more of an inconvenience in my life. Heather sighed with irritation at everything I said. My insurance changed since I was there 4 years ago. Sigh. I have commercial and Medicare insurance. Sigh. I work a full-time job so I need more than one day's notice to take off for an appointment. Sigh. Oh, and did I mention that she interrupted me too? Blatantly and intentionally because she thought she knew more about insurances than I did. (newsflash. I work in the industry too)I don't think I will be attending anything at this place.

Snavely is the WORST person I ve ever seen in any realm of the healthcare system. Won t help with severe anxiety, but recommended ECT!! Doesn t listen, rude, interrupts, and cuts you off. Prescribes a different antidepressant every month, never returns calls and is useless. I tried for 3 years to get help from him without any resolution. I finally found someone who helps with anxiety in my FIRST appointment. Don t waste your time or money on this jerk, I ve gotten better results from my dog!

I m seeing a lot of bad reviews about Dr. Snavely on here. I m actually currently looking for a therapist for my child which is what led me to the reviews on here. But I wanted to say that I went here about 4 years ago and I was to the point where I was constantly living in misery. My anxiety and OCD was so bad after I had my son that I could barely function. But Dr. Snavely was very helpful for me. He saved me and I finally got my life back after living in fear and misery for about a year. So I m not sure why he s getting such bad reviews but he helped me more than I can ever describe. So if you read this, Dr. Snavely, THANK YOU for everything.

I seen another psychiatrist outside this office for years which ruined my life for years. I was able to come and see Dr Snavely and he has helped me get straightened back around. He's listens intently and helps you get through the problems at hand.
