About Arms Acres: Inpatient Addiction Treatment Detox Center In New York

Arms Acres is a private alcohol and drug rehab facility for adolescents and adults in Carmel Hamlet, New York. Their programs include medical detox, gender-specific inpatient treatment, and aftercare services, including specialized support for young adults, veterans and military personnel, and those with co-occurring addictions and mental health conditions.

Medical detox helps clients safely withdraw from opioids, alcohol, and other substances under medical supervision and clinical care. Available services during detox include medical evaluations, psychiatric assessments, individual and group therapy, and educational lectures.

There are separate units for men and women so you can focus on personal aspects of their recovery, and a coed unit is also available. You might participate in closed discussion groups, recreational activities, fitness classes, 12 Step meetings, yoga, equine therapy, and swimming to optimize their physical health and mental well-being.

They provide individualized aftercare referrals that help clients connect with community-based providers for long-term recovery support.

They’re in-network with most commercial insurance providers. Speak with your provider to verify your coverage because out of network benefits may vary.

Staff treat the clients like shyt nurses ignore you. Seen two overdoses inside the facility people get high inside the rooms and smoke cigarettes. The Staff don't mean to care about you in any way. I don't recommend it at all.

Accepted Insurance

Arms Acres: Inpatient Addiction Treatment Detox Center In New York works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehabs offer an intermediate level of care for clients who do not require the kind of intensive supervision and support an inpatient program typically provides. Many clients transition into outpatient care immediately after exiting inpatient treatment. Others enter outpatient programs upon completing detox. Some facilities offer ambulatory medical detox for clients who do not require hospitalization. Most outpatient rehabs offer a combination of services, including addiction counseling, life skills training, and medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Clients in rehab aftercare programs receive a customized portfolio of services designed to promote their sustained sobriety. These clients have completed high-level treatment, are typically exiting detox and/or intensive inpatient care and are reintegrating into their home, workplace, and community. Rehab aftercare services address addiction disease as a chronic condition requiring continuing care. Clients typically work with case managers and recovery teams to access necessary resources, such as peer coaching and 12 step program induction support.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you choose drug rehab in New York, you'll participate in a variety of treatments that are designed to help you live a drug-free lifestyle. Common methods of treatment include group, individual, and family counseling, medication management, nutrition, exercise, and management of co-occurring mental health disorders.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in New York is a short term therapeutic method used to treat substance use and mental health disorders. CBT typically lasts from five to 20 sessions, based on the individual's needs.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Men and women receive emotional support from their peers during group therapy sessions. These are typically people who face the same struggles that you do. This exposure fosters a sense of camaraderie and community while reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness that often accompany addiction.

Men and women in New York undergoing one on one individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction treatment will address the unique psychological and emotional aspects that are often associated with addiction triggers. Your therapist helps you build a relapse prevention plan and set achievable goals to improve your mental health and achieve long term sobriety.

Introduced in 1983, motivational interviewing is a method to help clients commit to change. It's based on the philosophy that change is hard, and clients must explore their own options and come to their own conclusions rather than receive warnings or advice from the therapist.

Trauma therapy involves working through the psychological and emotional impact of a traumatic event. You learn to identify the triggers and develop coping mechanisms that build a sense of safety and trust in yourself.

Family therapy helps individual members of the family unit navigate the complexities of addiction. Therapists provide you with the tools you need to improve communication skills and conflict resolution. When families work together, they can support their loved one's recovery and help to restore balance and harmony within the household.

In addiction treatment, recreational therapy focuses on engaging you in healthy activities to help reduce your cravings and improve your mental well being. You might engage in activities like cooking classes, hiking, group sports, or swimming as a constructive outlet for stress and emotions that help your recovery.

You're better off keeping on doing what you're doing until a bed somewhere else opens up. I recommend Orange County Resource Recovery. You cannot smoke at Arms. Maybe you used to be able to but I just got out today. A staff member read my personal journal and found a very old note which inclined him to send me for psychiatric help. Well the doctor cleared me in about five minutes and sent me back to Arms who had already cleared out my room and searched my things again for some reason? They kept me in isolation until THEIR doctor cleared me as well, for some reason. Next, they lost half of my clothes. The place is in desperate need of updating and it is VERY loud. As in most of the patients being from all walks of jail and prison life. If only they just had a few throw rugs to absorb the noise. I often wore ear plugs, a patient was JUMPED by three or four other patients, there was what I'm pretty sure was an overdose one night, another night where, I don't know what happened but the police were on the unit for something. They're a fairly common sight at Arms, there's drug and cigarette trading of all sorts, most of the staff are indifferent, unprofessional and disorganized. If you wanna make a phone call, you better hope your case manager is available or be prepared to spent a dollar for every four minutes during allotted times at oldschool payphones in the hallway and there is no privacy unless you're in the restroom. It's often three or four to a room. I have never pitied an insurance company before but I actually feel bad for my insurance for paying this place actual money. The food is usually pretty decent though.

My daughter was given the WRONG AMOUNT OF MEDICATION, WHICH MADE HER GO INTO CARDIAC ARREST. She had to be resuscitated, brought by ambulance to ER, resuscitated in ER. I WAS NEVER CALLED BY FACILITY. My daughter called me from ER after 10 HOURS after the event. I spoke to a hospital nurse, who advised me to speak to the director to Arms Acres. I called the Director and left a message. OVER 24 HOURS AND STILL NO RETURN CALL. THIS MORNING " AGAIN" A DIFFERENT STAFF MEMBER ATTEMPTED TO GIVE MY DAUGHTER WRONG MEDICATION AMOUNT.THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN.IT IS A HELL HOLE, DEATH TRAP!!!!!

I have to agree with past reviews. You can smoke but you can t have a lighter leaving patients to use there addictive behaviors and smuggle it in. Mavis can kiss my white A.. she doesn t follow through with appointments she-really only reads questions from a computer has zero empathy and less caring. I will say that Lisa , Rod and a few others were good. Having 100 people at once leads to out of control behavior, the counselor ratio to patients is not enough. Five telephones grouped together makes it difficult to get a call in, and when you do it s so loud that you can hardly hear same with the speakers calling patients, and groups it s like Charlie browns teacher. There were drugs on the premises. I understand that the counselors have been through many bad situations but if your as jaded as I experienced maybe addiction counseling is not good for you anymore. I was denied so many simple things my book ,my colored pencils, candy, q-tips , my shampoo, etc. it s not fair that I had to do without because of bad behaviors before me Locking the rooms denies me the use of a semi private bathroom if counselors need to go room to room to get people out then do your job. This was not the only rehab I ve been to but by far was the worst. Shout out to the kitchen staff and nurses they were definitely by far the best people working there

Dirty disgusting nasty place, care nothing about you or your welfare. Lying cheating scumbags, do not go to this place. They are privately owned and publicly subsidized, so the more people they can get and not help the more money they make. F-them

If I could give zero stars I would. This is the worst medical establishment I have ever dealt with. No one answers their phone or returns phone calls. I ve been trying for two months to get through to their billing department and all I get when I press the option zero is we are experiencing technical difficulties . Their online bill pay does not work. I even left a voicemail for the Director and she doesn t get back
