Accepted Insurance

Alton Memorial Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients in outpatient rehab receive a variety of services based on their unique and evolving needs. Typical outpatient treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and community reintegration support. Many programs also provide medication assisted treatment (MAT) for clients recovering from alcohol and/or opioid dependency. Clients exiting inpatient treatment or those who are at an elevated risk of relapse may engage in more robust treatment, such as intensive outpatient (IOP) programming.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs provide a full continuum of care for clients who are exiting inpatient treatment. Though outpatient care is often considered an element of drug rehab aftercare, services typically continue for the remainder of the clients' life and long after formal treatment is completed. Clients work with their case managers and care team to formulate a customized portfolio of medical, mental health, and social service resources designed to evolve as the client's needs change.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Illinois is designed to help people recover from addiction to a number of substances. The length of each program and its intensity tend to vary, and the plan of care is based on your individual needs.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

We brought my mother into the ER 13 minutes after symptoms of a stroke started in January 2020. We spoke to the female ER doctor and asked if she would be receiving TPA. The doctor advised us her confusion, slurred speech, and right sided weakness were not from a stroke. It was obviously a stroke, so not sure how someone made it through medical school unable to properly diagnosis something so significant and obvious. Took them three hours to finally admit she had a stroke. Only then did we find out they did not run the proper stroke protocol upon admittance (such as 3D CT). We again asked about TPA and they refused to give it to her. Then we were so upset they called in their on call neurologist Dr. Rei who went into my moms room and told all of us he'd seen this type of stroke many times and she would recover to 100% (5 people heard this comment) he also refused her the TPA. The TPA was her one chance to recover from this stroke and they took it from her. After months of therapy, continued doctors appointments, and ongoing issues my mother is worse off now then that day in the hospital. She was left with memory problems, no use of her right arm, speech problems, and ambulation issues. She doesn't remember basic information such as her phone number, birthday or year. She'll never drive a car again. She can't be left alone. The incompetence of the people that hospital employs cost us our active mothers independence. It broke my heart the day she asked us what did I do so horrible in this life to make me end up like this. I told her it wasn't her fault she was taken to a horrible hospital that refused to treat her with the one thing that could have helped her because they hire incompetent rent-a-doctors on the weekends who can't identify the obvious symptom of a stroke, and refused to listen to the families request for treatment. Instead they did nothing. Thanks Alton Memorial you should be shut down.Note: They said to call 618-463-7311 and ask for patient experience line. I did this and the operator had no idea what I was talking about and then transferred me to some random message, which I left, and never heard back. Sounds about right for a hospital that brings ER doctors in that don't know what a stroke looks like and refuses to provide the TPA medication that my mother desperately needed to survive, even though family demanded it. Instead they left her essentially a vegetable. They are 100% responsible for taking away her ability to live life away.

the worst hospital i have ever been to in my entire life. wondering how they re able to keep treating patients when they just stick you in a room for 5 hrs and then give you ibuprofen and send you home. i asked for water and they couldn t even do that. they also do whatever they feel like doing and testing for instead of listening to the patient like any other normal and sane person would. normalize firing doctors and nurses who can t do their job. waste of time, waste of space hospital.

Just got out of this E.R.. I stepped on a rusty nail and literally had to pull it out of my foot. Left a nice puncture hole in my foot. My doctor couldn't see me so I came here. Got a tetanus shot, but what bothers me is not one person, looked, cleaned, or bandaged the bloody hole in my foot. I guess I'll do it myself at home.

I went to the E.R. with extreme leg pain. All of the nurses I had interactions with were great. Very helpful and caring. However, the two doctors I dealt with either seemed to not know what they were doing or were very dismissive of me. After waiting 8 hours between two visits, an X-ray, and a Ultrasound, they had no helpful solutions for me. Basically told me to leave and talk to my primary care physician. Didn't give me anything to help with my pain even though it was so bad I was crying from it. Going here was an unbelievable waste of time and I will never go here again

ER did not take accurate reading of my husband's temp, they did a forehead reading for temp and it said he was 98 but he is definitely at least 100. He couldn't wait any longer and left after the did a covid test. Who knows when they will get the results to us. I don't like this ER, I try to avoid going for anything unless I'm actually dead.

Doctors do not act as advocates. You have to force them to give referrals and make suggestions on how to fix chronic issues. Billing department tries to give medical advice and does not help sort out billing questions. Dr. Abraham's office will bill you for non-preventative care during preventative, annual visits and blame you when you did not consent.

Worst hospital, we had some very good nurses for my boyfriend when he was in there in May 2024 but the ER staff the rude security digging through my purse like I am criminal was totally unexceptable, I opened my purse and moved everything around and that rude woman still put her hands all in my purse. Disgusting. The wait was 6 hr or more to finally get admitted. Er or the triage nurses do not care are rude and very disgusting people. Now my boyfriend had to go get blood work done and get an x--ray on his knee and they have no record of him even getting it done called his doctor the hospital sent over no results it is like he never had it done and we were both there it was done. You would think you could contact the hospital and get an answer "NOPE" I spoke to 2 very rude women who just kept sending me to voicemail of what I am sure is more rude people and still no answer. Very unprofessional and disgusting employees! This hospital should be shut down.
