This review is a long time coming, but back in 2018 I came here seeking mental health treatment and, now that I have experience seeing real, competent, qualified therapists, I thought I d leave a review because it makes me madder the more I thought about it. First off, after filling out the questionnaire about my mental health (marking extremely low on quality of life in everything at the time), the nurse asked me something along the lines of what s causing your problems? I said, I don t know. She then looked at me like I was a complete moron and moved on. I was 19 and had problems, be more gracious. Once I was done dealing with the rude nurse staff, I saw a Doctor (can t remember her name) who, after a single meeting, prescribed me a bunch of meds to see what would stick. The concoction ruined my mental health so badly I had to drop my semester and almost tanked my academic career. When I told my doctor about this, she told me I was faking it. Unbelievable. Also, the front desk is rude, and the people who answer the phones are short and rude. I ve decided to add my review because it looks like some things are still constants, based on other reviews here. Don t ever go to BayView Professional Associates if you care about your mental health.

The residents are new and will prescribe you medicine that is not covered by your insurance. You then have to wait weeks to see the doctor again and pay another 30$. Messed up my medicine multiple times. Had to wait.

Accepted Insurance

BayView Professional Associates – Mobile works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Child Program

School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.

Clinical Services

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

I had to cancel an appointment. I really hated to miss it. The appointment was automatically rescheduled. I keep canceling the appointment through text and the machine confirms the appointment anyway. Super irritating. Then I called the office and it s closed before 5pm.

Hi, Dale. Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear about the issues you've encountered with rescheduling and our office hours. We understand how frustrating this must be and will work to resolve it. Thank you, April

Had scheduled an online appointment, waited for 15 mins but no one showed. Called the Mobile office and had to leave a voicemail (don't ever expect anyone to pick up the phone). Someone called me back and said that there was a miscommunication, and I was supposed to have been told to reschedule because my doctor doesn't even work on the day I was scheduled for. I never got the message, telehealth link was still sent to me, and the lady I spoke with never apologized.

Hi Veronika, Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. Your feedback is greatly appreciated and will help us improve the patient experience. If you would like to share anything further you can email us at info@altapointe.org. Thank you, April

This is the worst place to have to go to. They can t even get phone appointments correct. I waited over 40 minutes to be connected to my session and then it showed my session expired. When I called the office (after waiting over 5 minutes for someone to answer the phone) they want to tell me I cancelled the appointment. I have never seen a more poorly ran business than Bayview. Don t know why insurance companies have them as a preferred provider.

Dr. Putinta is the man! He is thorough, knowledgeable, professional and unhurried. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the wait time when you call can be frustrating. I realize the aesthetics of the building are not a top priority but some improvements would also make a difference.

Response from the owner4 months ago
Hi, MG. Thank you for your kind words about Dr. Putinta; we will certainly share your praise with him. We appreciate your feedback on the wait times and building aesthetics, and we will work on making improvements in these areas. Kindly, April

Staff can't handle simple things such as scheduling, prescription refills etc. Overcharged because of inept billing department. I have to hound these people to do their job. No competitor that accepts insurance. So stuck here with inadequate help
