About Alana Recovery Center – 1050 Shiloh Road

Alana Recovery Center is a Kennesaw drug and alcohol treatment center that supports adults with substance use disorders. They also provide valuable community resources, such as referrals, mental health services, and family support.

The services at Alana Recovery Center include mental health assessments, counseling, and outpatient programs.
Mental Health Assessment and Counseling
Assessments help clinicians to evaluate a client’s mental health for substance use disorder, the severity, and any co-occurring mental health conditions, in order to create a tailored plan of care. Treatment may involve individual, group, and family counseling.

Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP), & Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)
Outpatient services are for individuals over 18 who need addiction treatment, but don’t need 24-hour care. There are typically three types of outpatient programs: intensive outpatient, outpatient, and partial hospitalization.

Each program differs depending on the severity of substance use disorder and treatment required. PHP is the most acute outpatient, requiring participants to attend individual and group sessions, most days of the week. PHP may be best suited to dual-diagnosis treatments and acute substance use disorders. IOP requires treatment three to four days per week, and outpatient usually means one to two treatment sessions per week.

Typically, each program includes individual and group counseling, skills development groups, and aftercare.

Hello, my name is Alexander Drake, and I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Alana program. They were more than just a treatment program; they made me feel like family. Their understanding and non-judgmental approach created a safe space where I could truly open up. I want to highlight Collin White, our behavioral manager, who did an incredible job. He was funny, smart, and genuinely determined to help each of us. He took our concerns seriously, making a significant impact on my journey.Miss Raven, one of the behavioral techs, was a beacon of kindness for me. She went beyond her role; she became like a mother figure during my treatment. Whenever I needed someone to talk to, she was always there, never rushing our conversations. Her support meant the world to me, and I admired her ability to listen and understand, no matter the challenges I faced. She always checked in to make sure I was okay, and her presence was incredibly reassuring.Alec, my case manager, felt like a brother to me. We shared jokes, and he had a keen sense of my personality, making me feel comfortable and understood. He provided invaluable feedback on my progress and what I needed to work on. The medical assistant also played a crucial role in my experience; she was sweet and approachable, helping to keep my spirits up during difficult times. The nurse practitioner was professional and energetic, always ready to assist. Sarah and Laura, the medical directors, were serious about their work, acting swiftly to ensure our needs were met. I am truly proud of the service they provided and grateful for the entire team at Alana.

I had a wonderful experience at Alana and Sober Men s Living from December 2023-February 2024. The housing was top notch, very clean and comfortable. The programming was very focused on getting us involved in our own 12-step recovery outside of treatment. The Behavioral Tech staff are all in recovery themselves, and they were VERY helpful and friendly. Their experience and insight into sobriety were invaluable in regards to my own recovery. I always felt respected and cared for by the staff.I highly recommend Alana to anybody who has found themselves in need of substance abuse treatment. This place can and will work if you are willing to put the work in. I am massively grateful for this place supporting me and helping get me back on my feet when I was at my lowest.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
The IOP is an intense, focused experience designed to enable sober and productive living. Eligibility for the IOP is based on a clinical assessment. IOP may be recommended for individuals who do not require medically supervised detoxification, and who live within driving distance of the center. Intensive Outpatient Treatment may also be recommended for individuals who have recently completed residential treatment (rehab) and are in the early stages of recovery.
outpatient iconOutpatient
ALANA Recovery’s Outpatient Program is geared to the individual who has already recognized the impact of drugs and or alcohol in their lives. Their Outpatient Program is available by appointment for hourly-individualized sessions and/or group therapy once weekly. This program is run by our highly trained clinical staff. The Outpatient program utilizes a variety of tools to assist the client through healing and recovery, similar to their IOP program.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Their integration of IOP (Intensive Outpatient treatment) and Outpatient care with their partial programs allows for continuity of care as individuals move through the recovery process. All Partial patients are also required to attend pre-selected outside AA or NA meetings and share their experiences and insights within their groups.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

ALANA Recovery understands that substance abuse clients commonly suffer from Disordered Eating. Eating Disorders are among the most challenging of the Process Addictions to cope with and manage for the individual dealing with them. As such, members of ALANA’s treatment team are expertly trained in methods and skills specific to helping design a custom plan for each client to manage the Disordered Eating aspects of their addiction.

At ALANA Recovery, they know and have witnessed first-hand the devastation that addiction can have on the entire family. Substance Abuse is a condition that not only affects the individual, but almost everyone in that individual’s life. To this end, their program offers Family Therapy services to the loved ones learning to cope with family or significant others in all stages of recovery.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

ALANA Recovery understands that trauma often times is the underlying issue to addiction. Trauma informed care is vital to their clients’ care. ALANA utilizes clinicians specializing in trauma treatment to assist clients through this phase of their recovery.

Everyone that comes through the door feels the staff really cares for them. My personal experience had a lot of struggles due to financial issues, but even so they worked with me the best they could because I was willing to listen to do what they said.
