About A New Leaf | West Valley Family Care Clinic

A New Leaf provides mental health treatment, health and wellness services, educational classes, financial empowerment, sexual violence services, and housing for individuals in Glendale, Arizona. Their substance use disorder treatment is offered through traditional therapy.

A New Leaf provides outpatient mental health therapy.

Individual therapy creates the space to explore the psychological challenges associated with the addiction. With the help of a professional, individuals are given the space and direction to talk about and process their emotions. Often this includes unresolved trauma, anger, depression, anxiety, and the need for more control or autonomy in life.

Outpatient treatment programming is a more flexible approach to addiction treatment that is a step down from partial hospitalization programs and intensive outpatient programs. This service provides continued support for addiction recovery through individual therapy, group therapy, and educational classes on addiction and recovery. Medications may be managed and for those in need, trauma support may also be offered. The goal is to continue to move toward a life of recovery and a suitable aftercare treatment plan that allows for reintegration back into society. Referrals may need to be made to a substance use disorder treatment center.

Mental health treatment focuses on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and other challenging psychiatric conditions. Individual therapy, group therapy, and family therapy all serve as ways to deliver mental health support. These services can be administered in an inpatient setting, within an outpatient setting, or at a clinical office.

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The front office staff is very rude and inconsiderate considering I’m there for anxiety and depression. Every time I have gone there they have not been welcoming. I am considering leaving just because of how awful they make me feel. However, Dr. Wayne is very kind and pat ... Read More

The receptionist is the rudest most annoying person ever! It took her forever to notice me and to make an appointment! This shouldn't happen, people, hire better staff!

The low grade is for Google maps not helping me find this location. Every time I get lost. This time I gave myself 30 mins lost time before finding clinic. I'm going to try using the ywca next time. Maybe that navigation is correct. Smh

I called the West Valley location to schedule an appointment as a new patient. I was inquiring about mental health services, if they had inpatient options, if they accepted insurance. Without asking any questions on why I was seeking treatment or what type of treatment would be best, the lady who I spoke with told me insurance would only cover medications and I'd be better off seeking therapy services directly through my insurance provider.I've been in counseling for over 5 months and have still been struggling with severe depression and trauma related to domestic violence. In past years I have worked with A New Leaf as a donor, financially and with clothing and necessities. They were my first choice to seek additional help related to DV because I'm familiar with their work. Inquiring about their services on a personal level was met with extreme disappointment and a lack of interest and empathy by the intake staff. It's unfortunate as a woman seeking help to be so easily dismissed by the intake staff.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hello Erika, we are sorry to hear you seem to have had a negative experience. We will pass your comments along to management, it is always important for our intake staff to assist clients to the best of their abilities. It is true that some folks are better served by other organizations based on their insurance, but we want everyone to feel welcome and safe at A New Leaf. Please reach out to us at 480-464-4648 if you would like to share any more feedback on your experience.

They are AMAIZING here. I have 3 children ( one in his 20's, a mid teen & a grade school child) that have been coming here for a few years & they are extremely knowledgeable, patient, helpful and kind and have plenty of resources if needed and if they don't have resources they can and will connect you to people who do. I've seen great Improvement in my children in the time that they've been there.

If I could give zero stars, I would. This staff is heartless, rude, and just plan awful! Please do yourself a favor and contact ANY OTHER LOCATION. I really tried my best to deal with this front office staff, but my god. THIS IS A PLACE OF HOPE AND HEALING. Whoever Dina is or whatever her name is up front- FIRE HER. Good riddance.
