My husband and I both were amazed at the care he received recently at this hospital. The doctors as well as all the staff were nothing but the best. We both felt he was getting the best most personable care of any hospital we have gone to ever before. They did not make him feel like he was just a number. They were very caring and compassionate. It was important for both of us to understand what he was going through and why and they did their best to take the time to explain. Even though they had to keep repeating they didn't show their frustration. Because of the hospital I will be changing to the ECU HEALTH PRIMARY CARE near the hospital.

They take hours to pass you when you come to the emergency room. All staff are incompetent. Go elsewhere if you need medical attention.

Location

Accepted Insurance

ECU Health Duplin Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.

Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Please avoid Kenansville hospital (ECU Duplin) if you can go anywhere else. My 79 year old father went by ambulance after a hard fall. He was bleeding from somewhere on his head. We were told they could not examine his wound because they had him in a collar and had to make sure there was no cervical fracture first. Ok, admitting he had not been examined. He was put in the middle bed in a room with 3 beds. The man on his right was coughing with no mask and not covering his cough and walking all around the room. We were not recommended to wear masks, but I grabbed some for us. They moved a woman in on the right. After about 30 minutes of her coming in (still no doctor, was told scan results were in and would be in to go over) I overheard a nurse tell her her covid test was positive. A few minutes later, the man on the left was refusing to be admitted and the nurse reminded him he had covid. My 79 year old father with prior health issues was put between 2 covid patients. We demanded he be moved and were told there were no beds. We began raising a stink and mentioned suing if we got covid and minutes later, they were discharging my dad. No going over test results, no examining his wound. They were now saying he was examined upon arrival and as he went by ambulance we were not there to prove any different. Even though they admitted earlier that he had not been examined. We got him home and found a large gash on his head that will definitely require stitches. I have pictures of the gash that I will not post here because some of you may not want to see. But I will post a pic of the blood he had on his shirt to show how much the wound bled. But they saw no wound when they discharged him. Furious. We took him to a different hospital where he received 2 staples to close the wound.

Shout out to the staff at Duplin General emergency department. I was seen there recently due to a knee injury on a Saturday evening, and the experience was awesome. I was in and out within an hour or 2. The staff were all very kind and considerate. Their protocol and process was awesome. I give them a straight up five stars. I read some of the other reviews and saw a lot of negative comments. I know some patients get very frustrated at the emergency room staff and the fact that sometimes you have to wait for a long time But please understand that when you go to the emergency department it is not about who gets there first but it s about what is wrong so they see patients at the hospital in order of NEED and NOT ARRIVAL so please be patient with the staff. This is an emergency room not a doctor s office. Anyway my experience was good and I thought the staff did an awesome job!

My son was transported here by rescue due to him a 9 yr old passing out while standing and the. Striking his head severely on the ground. Now my son has SVT and is in treatment for it. We arrived and they did blood work the first nurse could not get an IV so another came in and stuck the other arm. We explained things to them and that he is currently under duke cardiology care because of his heart. We told them he is complaining of his head hurting so bad and his vision in his left eye was blurry. So my wife said and my son several times about his head hurting . Well guess what they sent us home with no scan of his head and now we are getting multiple scans by his pediatric doctor due to a severe concussion. Why would you not Che k his head, that is medical standard to rule out anything. No scan no X-ray nothing. Well what they don t know is that his parent is a Director of Nursing and could not believe the level of care that was missed here. You have a healthy 9 year old active passes out strikes his head hard. Thank goodness where we were at there were deputies and fireman that heard his head hit the ground and came running over to us to help. But you will not check his head . Yea you missed this and messed up big time.
