FIRE ARM NIGHTMARE experience here. I got assaulted by another male at the house. The guy fought me because I accidentally drank his Powerade. They said no matter who starts the fight you both get kicked out. I told them to wait until I arrange a car to the airport. They didn t give me time to even call an Uber. I had a FIRE ARM pointed at me from one of the counselors that work there while I was walking off the property. Everyone is searched prior to entering the rehab and he was about to kill a defenseless young man. The counselor was smiling so EVIL while pointing the gun at me. I expected to have to be safe stay there. This rehab is DANGEROUS for anyone to be staying at. If anyone wants they can contact me for a detailed experience about this rehab.

this is literally the most incredulous story ever about Turning Point. No employee, let alone a therapist, would brandish a firearm during a discharge for violating the rules. We wish you well in your recovery journey!

so I was very hesitant even going to rehab and treatment, let alone go online and have to decide with all the treatment options. but I have to thank turning point for being there in my recovery. I learned so much not only about my addiction but my thinking behind the addiction and my triggers. I definetly wasn't the easiest client to handle but the support staff Hailey was the one who was so easy to share my problems/stories with and she just understood that I was there to change my life for the better live a different life and she was always there to help me even at the times she didn't want to be. so thank you Hailey. and thank you turning point. and anyone who truly wants to live a life of sobriety and change their life then I HIGHLY RECOMEND these guys.

I ve been sober for just under 4 years so I feel like my opinion holds some weight now that I have a clear mind. This has been on my mind since the last time I left TP. I ve been to rehab 4 times, the first 2 were at Turning Point. Being the only treatment center I had ever attended, I had nothing to compare it to. If I had known, I would ve never gone there. The entire program is a cash grab, from start to finish. It s alllll about the money there, not the patients and certainly not keeping people sober. They ve figured out that if you don t give people the tools they actually need to stay sober, they get repeat customers and more $$$. I ve seen more of my friends die coming out of that program than literally anywhere else. Including my friend Justin, rest in peace. Their day treatment and IOP programs are the same. Very centered around money, weird personality tests and not at all anything I ve ever been able to use in my recovery. Dennis was rude & short with people, and intentionally unforgiving of tardiness in order to refer people to a higher level of care AKA more money for TP. I was housing insecure when I left treatment the first time, fleeing an abusive relationship. A little bit of flexibility would ve gone a long way to help me stay sober, but that s not what they re about. my therapist told me time & time again that he d help me figure out some places that could help, or even a scholarship to sober living while I got back on my feet. I had nothing. He never followed through, but instead on the day I was discharged handed me a sheet of paper he had literally googled and printed out. I could ve done that myself. I still have the paper. I now know of plenty of resources that would ve been available to me at the time had my therapist cared to even try. Staff is unprofessional and doesn t manage the facility or clients well, and the only 12 step meeting they ll take you to is the old timers meeting on Fridays that s literally 4 grumpy old men, no other women. So no safe sponsorship candidates for women, and definitely not an environment anyone with trauma from men would feel comfortable opening up in. There s a clear pattern of them not considering women in their decisions, including the second time I attended TP when they only had male therapists. As someone with a lot of trauma from men, it really didn t work for me and I know I m not the only woman who would ve benefited from a female therapist.**Edited this to add a response to the owner. Reviews are largely based on opinions & experiences. Nowhere in google s review policies does it state that opinions can t be posted as part of a review. Failure to consider women in decisions is absolutely an opinion of mine based on my experience there. Reviews are not facts only and heavily rely on people s opinions & experiences. Having not a single female therapist, and not a single meeting that wasn t all old men was absolutely a failure to consider an entire group of people in treatment & I stand by that.

Alexandria, We are super happy to hear that you have reached almost 4yrs! That is amazing, great job!!! We also want to apologize. We were never aware (informed by you) that your experience was what you stated above:(. Our goal - is to do everything we can to help everyone/anyone that come through our centers. And to be a lifelog partner, to help them stay on track. However, we do realize that our modalities may not stick, or resonate, with everyone. That is why some people choose 12 step programs, others may choose a holistic approach, and some want evidence based. With that - I would like to clarify a few things. - We aren't the same center we were 4yrs ago. As you may know we have had new ownership acquire the centers, and a total overhaul has taken place. - The therapists you mentioned are no longer with the organization. - And I am shocked to hear you state "them not considering women in their decisions". That is an inaccurate statement. That's your opinion - and not fact. - The majority of our Therapists are women. And ALWAYS have been. So I'm not sure where that statement comes from. All things being said - we are still very sorry that you feel your experience wasn't great. But we are still very proud of you, and hope you continue to keep putting in the work to maintain your current quality of life. Sincerely, Turning Point Centers Management

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enter a drug rehab in Utah, the process usually involves four stages: treatment initiation, early abstinence, maintaining abstinence, and advanced recovery. Treatment methods can rely on medications, counseling, or both, in either an outpatient or inpatient setting.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.
