Accepted Insurance

The River Source works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab is designed primarily for persons in early recovery and those who are exiting detox programs. It's ideal for clients in crisis or at an elevated risk of relapse. Inpatient treatment centers provide housing and meals, allowing clients to focus on their recovery away from distractions and addiction triggers. Clients engage in intensive psychotherapy, and many inpatient programs feature recovery-focused life skills training and/or complementary therapies like meditation, creative arts therapy, and other holistic treatments.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
The safest way to remove addictive substances from your body is done under the care of licensed medical professionals. Known as medically assisted detox, this level of care is typically in an inpatient setting with a team of medical experts that may include doctors, nurses, and mental health clinicians. Medications like Suboxone, methadone, or Vivitrol may be administered to help alleviate withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Also known as CBT, cognitive behavioral therapy in Arizona is one of the most common types of psychotherapy. It offers a structured method of counseling that effectively treats substance use disorder and dual diagnosis disorders.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

The goal of motivational interviewing in Arizona is to enhance your confidence in your ability to make changes in your life. It encourages you to commit to change and plan for the process of making those changes that will allow you to reach your goals.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Residents of Arizona who are experiencing relationship problems may benefit from couples therapy. This form of psychotherapy helps couples express their feelings, resolve conflicts, and increase intimacy and affection.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

I went to treatment here 2 yrs ago & at that point I would ve given it 5 stars. This time it was completely different. They claim on their website to have a holistic approach with massages, acupuncture, sauna, & vitamin IV bags. They had none of these things anymore accept for the vitamin Iv bag & they wanted me to pay more money than the $5000 I paid to get in the door! I came here wanting to work on myself & just wanted peace. I did not know it was not made aware I need to bring my medication in. So my psych medication that I m on just an antidepressant I did not have it for 4 days until my husband drove it to the facility. Taking time off of work to do so. they refused to write me another script for it on top of it they refused also to give me my testosterone for my hormone therapy that I have on the outside. I didn t have anything for four days and then I finally got it and this girl starts going t crazy on me so they put me in a position to fail and then they acted like I was crazy for failing They had some woman in there who was a schizophrenic that repeatedly verbally attacked me, stared me down in every group I was in. Then when I was at my max, shaking, hyperventilating, & visually noticeably pushed too far, they forced me to sit in a room with this mentally ill woman & try for the forth time to try conflict mediation. If someone is delusional and schizophrenic, this type of approach is useless. Her delusions took something I said in group & made it somehow about her. She had decided she hated me & that was it. The BHT there told me to be careful what o shared in group as I may trigger someone. What I said was an analogy used in recovery a lot. That allowed this woman to make me afraid to share in group. I no longer was allowed to have a safe place to work on myself & the BHT backed her up. This is NOT a safe place to work on yourself. I had no idea this was a dual diagnosis facility for schizophrenics as well. They should have a different level of care on a different floor than ppl just trying to get sober. Then when we did the last conflict mediation group. Naturally regular strategies didn t work. . You don t push ppl into doing something that sends them into a full on panic attack well, not giving them any of their regular medicines so their levels aren t correct.& then act like it s my fault. Please save yourself the drive the time in the energy just go to a different facility. You never know you could be next.

This treatment center changed our lives My son entered the River Source having been an IV drug user for almost 2 years. Every day I had to prepare myself to receive a phone call telling me my son was at the morgue. And then he finally accepted help. He was at the River Source for 30 days. That in itself was a miracle, but I credit the amazing staff, as well as the isolated location. Then he went outpatient with another agency and ended up relapsing within days. He returned to the River Source, but with a bad attitude towards treatment and being sober. Eventually he was asked to leave, which would upset most parents, but I knew his actions merited this response. Good news he has now been sober for a year. I am in awe and forever grateful to the River Source. Rose & Charlie, you are AMAZING and life changing! Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

This review is based off of my personal opinion and observation after seeking continued recovery support and education after voluntary admission into rehab.I came to the River Source in Gilbert for their PHP program after leaving the Desert Hope Rehabilitation Center out in Vegas. I came from a rehab center that was strictly recovery based (not fellowship based) with highly engaging group therapy. There was definitely a lack of engagement and activity at the River Source. Every day felt like I was in a quiet waiting room of people with a chaperone who spent most of their time writing in a notebook. It was understandable they needed to keep tabs but it was time-consuming and awkward waiting for them to finish their written inputs. If you re not here, you re somewhere else was mentioned a couple times and it would possess more meaning if work was being done. A group of addicts have the potential to create more open conversations but without effective direction then everyone is barely scratching the surface of deeper meanings. Shouldn t there be an emphasis on adjusting to sober social settings with concrete communication tools? Your participation and engagement is measured by the book, literally a binder they give you upon admittance with some worksheets that spell everything out for you, which feels like a forced bare minimum of expectations of self-reflection. I was financially set up on my insurance and a payment plan out of pocket to read aloud in group material from NA and AA which anyone can get for free from attending meetings outside of PHP groups. God seemed to me to be the general topic of conversation, reading material, and the foundation of recovery though they don t advertise it. One day we played hangman for a couple hours, another day we had to come up with a survival list for if we were stranded on an island activities that didn t correlate with recovery or have any take-aways from it, so honestly, it felt like they couldn t think of anything productive for us to do. Socialization is a huge part of recovery and I believe we could ve used that time to incorporate creative activities that put our personable skills into practice. I appreciated the hours of independent journaling I accomplished since my brain was starving for engagement because otherwise, truthfully, I walked away with nothing gained. I didn t feel a sense of therapeutic support in groups because there wasn t much being processed besides a share from a worksheet in the said binder. Lastly, there was an instance where confidentiality wasn t valued by a therapist and spoke about an absent client s moment of weakness, it felt like inappropriate bragging rights of a therapist deeming themselves as the client s reason they re successful in their sobriety. Something the client should choose to share if they were present. For mere money s worth, there are so many hours that could be spent learning about toolkits, the recovering brain, processing emotions, relapse prevention, challenging thought prompts, patterns of living, reflections, time management, setting boundaries, skills that transfer over to real life! Hopefully, they can incorporate a more engaging environment in the future.By the way, you will get asked to leave a review about how awesome the staff is. I wouldn t use the word awesome, I would say they were professional. I will give a shout out to Steve, he was the most personable, empathetic, and most engaging staff member in my opinion, unfortunately he doesn t lead groups.

I just completed treatment at the River Source and I am so thankful for the staff there. From admissions to Alumni, they were with me every step of the way. The BHTs are amazing there. And Phillip, the Alumni coordinator makes sure you stay connected even after you leave. He was very helpful with getting and staying connected!
