DO NOT send anyone you care about here! If I could give this place zero stars I definitely would do so! My son entered this facility on a Sunday in July. He was in detox for about 5 days. On day 6 he called me and sounded a little strange. On day 7 when we were supposed to be able to come and visit him, I received a phone call at 2 AM stating he was having an episode and the crisis team was called. I was called about 2 hours later and told he was not taken by the crisis team but that he wanted to leave. When I spoke with him, it was clear something was wrong. I asked if he had been given any medication and they told me he was given Seroquel and Trazadone. I asked if there was a doctor on staff that could check to see if he was having an adverse reaction to the medication. I was told the doctor wouldn t be in until Monday. I was then called by the director and told I needed to meet her there at 9 to pick him up. At 6:50 I was called and told my son fled the facility and I needed to come immediately. Since we were about an hour away, my husband and I arrived shortly before 8. When we arrived the director was outside, handed me my son s bag and then told me he ran into a field. I was told they were not equipped to handle mental health concerns but only substance abuse. I would like to know why their website says otherwise and they clearly prescribe heavy duty mental health medication???? We drove around for 3 hours looking for my son only to find out from the local fire department that he was arrested on the Riversource property!! The so called director clearly knew what happened yet allowed us to search AZ City for hours looking for our son. My son had a severe adverse reaction to the medication they gave him. He ended up in the Florence Hospital. Clearly they give medication with little to no medical supervision to make sure patients are okay. This place should lose its license. I repeat, DO NOT go here or send anyone you know here!

Please DO not go here. It's absolutely run down and the medical care was abysmal. Support techs were kind but they are not in charge of your care.

Accepted Insurance

The River Source – Arizona Drug Rehab Program works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. The River Source offers a separate rehab treatment for women and another for adults.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
If you're struggling with adjusting to daily life after inpatient rehab, a sober living home in Arizona may be a good option. These residences offer an in-between option where you can practice the skills you learned in rehab in a structured, drug-free environment. This transition can help you prepare to face the "real world" after treatment. You'll live with others in recovery and follow house rules such as contributing to chores and paying rent.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. The River Source combine medical and naturopathic detox treatment, including sauna detox.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Their intensive outpatient program (IOP) is ideal for recovering addicts and alcoholics seeking structure and support in their current environment. To accommodate all schedules, they offer flexible times that allow patients to tend to their daily responsibilities while getting the treatment they need to remain clean and sober.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a short-term alternative to inpatient treatment or a step-down option after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you'll receive 6 to 8 hours of daily support, up to 5 days a week. The duration of a partial hospitalization program can vary with the average length being 90 days. While commuting is necessary, some programs also offer telehealth options. PHP treatment is often covered by insurance and typically offers medication management, relapse prevention techniques, and behavioral therapy.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

People who suffer from substance abuse disorders and mental health disorders are diagnosed as having co-occurring conditions, something also referred to as a dual diagnosis. At The River Source, they see co-occurring disorders frequently. Their medical professionals are experienced in this field and have worked successfully with dual diagnosis treatment programs for clients for years.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical behavior therapy in Arizona focuses on acceptance of your reality and behaviors while also attempting to make changes in unhealthy behaviors. It has been shown to be effective for the treatment of anxiety, depression, PTSD, and substance use disorder.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place is crap. First don't be fooled by the pictures. It's run down and ugly. Secondly, they kicked my son out after a week. They tried to take him off his Suboxone in a week and refused to titrate slower claiming some protocol bs. As you would expect this agitated him and they claimed he was volatile and needed to leave. Kicked him to the curb literally and made him wait there while it took us over an hour to get to him. Because he was only there for a week they owe us almost $1000 refund and 5 months later still nothing and no response from the person we had been communicating with about the refund. I want our money back!

If you love your family DO NOT LET THEM GO HERE. My dad went for treatment and had paranoia and hallucinations with the withdraws. The facility let him leave in the night, where he passed away that evening since he was on his own in a bad state. Please please I urge you to go anywhere else.

Father in law checked in for support with sleeping medications and while detoxing was experiencing hallucinations which are a common side effect. Instead of providing the support he needed during his stay the facility allowed him to leave while going through these dangerous withdrawals causing him to wander around an unknown city in the heat with a dead cellphone.

They grossly mishandled my dads detox and let him walk out of the facility while he was hallucinating to roam free at night in the heat.
