I do not appreciate my child being able to lie and manipulate doctors and therapists into giving her "nicorette" nicotine gum, and not consulting me. A kid that cannot make good decisions for herself. Why would that be given to her from when she smoked over a year ago. Doctor did not call me. WITHOUT MY CONSENT?!

My experience with the Ridge was overall very pleasant. From the day I got assessed, as well as through the entire program, I was fully supported and encouraged by staff. I attended the Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Program for 6 weeks. During those six weeks, I worked with Amanda, who ended up being one of my favorite therapists of all time. Amanda provided a safe and welcoming environment for me which made it easier to continue showing up. The Ridge changed my perspective on life as a whole and has given me numerous resources to depend on after I graduated from the program. The program is exhausting, however, very effective. Highly would recommend the Ridge and the outpatient programs that they offer.

Accepted Insurance

The Ridge Behavioral Health System works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient and partial hospitalization services are provided on a six-day per week basis, days and evenings. The Outpatient Treatment offers a psychiatric evaluation, ongoing medication management, an Intensive Outpatient Program, and a Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP). The treatment process encourages disclosure, acknowledgement, and acceptance to allow and promote change. Participation and attendance are required and both are critical to your success. Your progress is constantly monitored; more intensive or less intensive treatment will be recommended as needed.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient care is provided on a 24-hour basis, seven days a week. Their Inpatient Treatment offers an intensive therapeutic environment, a board certified psychiatrist/neurologist, a multidisciplinary treatment approach, 24-hour nursing care, a social worker, an activity therapist, a dietitian, family participation, and discharge/aftercare planning.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often beneficial for individuals who don't require 24-hour supervision, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) can be an alternative to inpatient rehab or a transitional option. PHP treatment typically involves 6 to 8 hours of treatment per day, up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. PHP treatment often includes relapse prevention strategies, medication management, and other behavioral therapy interventions. While the cost of a partial hospitalization program can vary, it is often covered by insurance.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Kentucky often starts with detox, then includes inpatient or outpatient treatment, and continues with aftercare support. Specific methods used during each of these phases varies, but often include individual and group counseling, medication, and recreational therapies.

The Ridge Recovery Center (RRC) is designed to serve adults over the age of 18 diagnosed with co-occurring disorders. They specialize in the treatment of adults diagnosed with both mental health and substance abuse disorders. In their continued efforts to provide the best possible care for their patients, they have extended the length of their Ridge Recovery Center program to up to 28 days so patients can transition from initial detoxification and stabilization to Inpatient Rehabilitation at The Ridge.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Animal therapy (aka pet therapy or animal-assisted therapy) can be very healing, as it allows patients to bond with animals, who give unconditional love. This is particularly useful for those who suffered trauma by the hands of people, who may be able to trust and form closer attachments to animals than humans at certain stages of rehabilitation.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

For those struggling with treatment resistant depression, mania, and other forms of mental illness, ECT (Electro-Convulsive Therapy) is available at The Ridge Behavioral Health System. Led by their ECT Medical Director, Dr. David Shraberg and the use of state of the art technology, their ECT Treatment Team will provide patients with an effective treatment program that brings hope and relief of their symptoms.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

This place is terrible. I was here when I was a kid. My parents orphaned me, and I was being heavily abused and neglected at the house I was living at. The doctors/staff did nothing about any of it. Other patients would attack me and hit me at night and the staff would do nothing. The place is extremely dangerous and unsafe. There was a lot of bullying and violence, and the staff would only intervene if the violence was directed at them.

Anyone that goes to this place will find help if they want to get it. I was at the ridge for almost 3 months, but that was because I was trying to get into a program called Jobcorps and a bunch of other legal stuff.I mean, it s not the best experience, but it s what you make it. Honestly, I loved the staff that I got, some were tough and upright (in a good way) some were chill and laid back, some were a little bit of both, but they each had their own aura, they were all unique in some way.I especially enjoyed the head of unit 6 (I know her name, but I m not gonna say it publicly for privacy reasons) she was really kind and funny, she was there for me when I needed help with personal problems. The food was good, chicken Parmesan day and the chicken bacon ranch pitas were my favorite. The kitchen staff were cool, especially Chicago. The therapeutic activities were a little repetitive, but the staff tried everything in their power to change it up a little bit, sometimes we would play Therapeutic games. (Sometimes with staff or The therapist)The nurses were nice, they re firm and sometimes a little strict, but only for the right reasons. They re very helpful, especially if you are respectful towards them. The recreational activities didn t get very repetitive until the last 2-3 weeks of my stay, which is always good. They re fun, sometimes, there s music, art or physical activities in the gym. The recreational therapists were really nice, loved all four of them. I even got to help out with the Halloween festival.(which was really fun)Overall, if it was a rating out of 100, I d give it a 97.5/100. I had a good time getting help, but a frustrating time trying to get out. (Which was not the ridges fault)Also, everyone decided to call me a really awesome and goofy nickname. Gramps: it was.Shoutout to all the unit 6 staff. They were genuinely amazing and kind, and I kinda hope they see this. (If you can, please show this to them :)

They took 4-5 hours to get us checked in WITH a referral they had since 1pm. I had to threaten to leave in order for them to do anything. They lied and wrote on her intake paper that we didn t get there until 638pm, but again we had a referral and they knew we were coming at 1pm.
