About The Coleman Institute

The Coleman Institute is a private substance abuse treatment facility in Phoenix, Arizona. They specialize in a form of accelerated detox called the Coleman Method, which can be completed as quickly as three days. They serve adult clients.

Detoxification is often the first step clients need to take to begin recovery, and some treatment programs require them to undergo detox before they can enroll. Centers like The Coleman Institute offer such detox services while referring to other facilities for additional treatment.

Detoxification without supervision carries a high risk of relapse. What’s more, the side effects of withdrawal can be extremely dangerous without professional help. This medically monitored detox puts the patient in the caring hands of specialists and professionals dedicated to helping the patient withdraw from drugs and alcohol as safely as possible.

The Coleman Institute provides clients with outpatient detox services. Over three days, clients are given medication to help them cope with withdrawal symptoms, all under the watch of professional staff. On the third day, clients are put under anesthesia and undergo a procedure to remove the remaining substances from their bodies.

The Coleman Institute accepts most forms of private insurance. However, because in network and out of network benefits can vary, clients are encouraged to consult with their insurance provider to confirm coverage before starting a treatment plan.

Absolutely terrible experience. Im leaving out a lot of details due to space. The HQ staff told me this detox would be like taking suboxone. Absolutely false. Sloan is a great doctor but was only around for 2 days of my detox. Joseph took over for him and should not be helping addicts as he has 0 compassion and no concept of bedside manner. He decided to lecture me on joining NA while I m in bad withdrawals on day 3. He made jokes about my makeup all over my face and joked about the amount of blankets I had. All while I m vomiting, shaking, etc. the day of the vivitrol shot I was in mild withdrawals but I got it. (Btw, I ended up in the ER and they also said I was in bad withdrawal day 4). Prior to the shot, he told me people use it for weight loss and suggested I get on lexapro. I told him I got seratonin syndrome from it in the pastwhich he pretty replied with I didn t know what I was talking about. I wish I never took that shot. I was severely I ll for the following 2 weeks I lost 30 lbs in 3 weeks. Missed my flight home bc I couldn t walk. Severe nausea for weeks. Was back in urgent care and ER several times wit dehydration. Zofran shots every day did not help. Research vivitrol abs you ll see many experience horrible side effects Which I was never warned of. What s interesting is in day 2 I was given suboxone it s their secret fix. But day 4 as I m dying in tge ER, sloan tells me it won t work. Why not now but on day 2? Anyways , your HQ staff should not tell people this detox us like taking suboxone. It s not. don t lecture about NA when they are vomiting all over themselves, don t make LAME jokes about your patient. Leave it for the end when you have successfully detoxed them in the manner you sold them on. I was sold a dream bc my experience was FAR from what I was told I would experience. I would never recommend the Coleman clinic or working with Joseph. PS- I didn t bring ANY drugs with me but I sure wish I had because that was probably the worst 5 days of my life. I ll never go back to AZ either.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. The Coleman Institute offers outpatient rapid detox program to help individuals free themselves from the effects of addiction to Opioids, Suboxone, Methadone and Alcohol.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA). During the detox, they work with patients and their families to develop an appropriate aftercare plan.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Arizona is the process of treating individuals who are dependent on a particular addictive drug. Because addiction is complex, this treatment typically includes a variety of interventions that address the many physical and emotional issues involved.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

The Coleman Institute is dedicated only to provide detox services. Because their treatment takes only a few days, the patient doesn't need a long break from his/her daily life to complete detox. Staff work with the patient to create a personalized treatment plan that better suit his/her needs and also create and aftercare plan.

I just want to thank Dr.Sloan and all of his staff for giving me my freedom back. I was addicted to methadone for 17 years and was at the point of accepting the fact that I would be chained to a clinic for the rest of my life. It s amazing to be able to wake up every morning without having to put methadone first. When I look back on my detox now it really was not as bad as I expected. Dr. Sloan and his whole staff were wonderful to work with.

I would never have got clean if it wasn t for The Coleman Institute. It s the most cost effective and comfortable detox. You don t feel the detox and you wake up clean and free. Highly recommend to anyone struggling with addiction. If you have tried everything else, or it s your first time getting clean, this is the only way to go. THEY DO NOT USE SUBOXONE TO GET YOU CLEAN like other fake detox places that just put you on subs. The doctors and staff are amazing as well, they truly care.

I would highly recommend this facility. The doctors and nurses are very compassionate and truly care about you. They make your whole experience easier to get through. After trying on my own to stop Klonopin after being on it for 10 years for Fibromyalgia numerous times unsuccessfully I sought help with The Coleman Institute through The Compassionate Care center in Phoenix, AZ. They were great and it was so much easier. I am forever grateful to them. It changed my life.
