Thank you for reaching out. Though the process of loosening the physical, mental, and spiritual ties that bind anyone struggling with addiction undoubtedly "sucks," we at Stonegate constantly aim to ease the burden by making that process "suck" less. If any issues with our on-site medical doctor, on-site psychiatric nurse practitioner and family nurse practitioner, 24/7 nursing staff, recovery advocate team, meals, or licensed equine therapist arise, we want nothing more than to address any concern. In order to maintain stringent privacy standards, we do not discuss former or current client circumstances in the public forum, but we welcome the opportunity to speak with anyone personally to help provide the chance for a lifetime of sobriety. All the best, Stonegate Center

StoneGate Center facts...1. AA program that does work. That is where the positive ends. Food is average at best. This is a borderline Christian Facility where the staff uses more foul language than most Army and Marine Barracks. The staff will manipulate your family to extend your stay. Remember its all about the Benjamins $$. Class and Therapy sessions are between 22-45 individuals. Possible physical altercations are once a week. Received a verbal financial agreement with Stonegate which they have decided to ignore and continue to charge. StoneGate uses words like integrity, Faith etc...But the truth is its a Rehab Cash Cow. Ask questions and get everything in writing. Ask about things like 24 hour AMA (Against Medical Advice) discharge and holding your belongings (Cell phone etc.). See other reviews. Equine Therapy is once a week for 90 minutes. Choice of beverage is coffee if your lucky, milk at breakfast (if they do not run out), unsweetened tea and water. Cereal 6 out 7 days a week for breakfast. The Therapists are extremely competent, caring and professional. You are the cleaning crew of the facility. The swimming pool is females only at there facility. This review is written strictly because Stonegate did not honor our agreement.

We cannot say how much a blessing this place was to find. We called Taylor not really knowing what we should do and he immediately guided us to the most thoughtful and loving steps to getting the help our loved one needed. We were nervous but he was willing to hop on a phone call whenever we needed and mediated our intervention and thoughtfully talked to our loved one with great knowledge and understanding. He was phenomenal, from the first call to getting our loved one onsite.Place was gorgeous, felt safe and was a comforting to know that our loved one would be getting the help they needed in such a beautiful way.Logan helped do the pre-screening/on-boarding and helped the process go seamlessly. Him having personal experience made this transition even more comfortable as he understood what our loved one was going through. There is nothing like getting help from someone who really understands and can talk about how you might be feeling.Dana has helped us tremendously. We had a couple of hiccups from our loved one s work and she guided us on the best steps to handling this and we were able to work through it with her.Just the overwhelming support, guidance and understanding of this place has been a huge blessings. God s hands are working in this place.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
After completing some form of inpatient care, many clients transition or step down to an outpatient rehab, while some choose to transition from detox directly into outpatient care. High-intensity outpatient programming, including partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) is widely available for clients in early recovery, those leaving detox, and those at an elevated relapse risk. Clients in outpatient care generally engage in robust addiction counseling and recovery education, and some also receive medication assisted treatment (MAT).
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy, aka equine-assisted therapy (EAT), is a form of experiential therapy that involves interactions and activities with horses. It does not necessarily involve riding horses, but all activities related to horses, such as feeding, grooming, haltering and leading them. A mental health professional frequently oversees the activities (often in conjunction with a horse professional), and helps patients process their thoughts, feelings, and behavior patterns during and/or after the interaction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I absolutely love working with Stonegate! We've had several clients come to us for further treatment after completing their residential program, and I can confidently say that Stonegate provides an amazing foundation for long-term success in recovery. The team at Stonegate is truly dedicated and compassionate. It can be challenging working with clients in addiction, but the staff at Stonegate go above and beyond for them, showing love and support even at their worst. They ensure that each individual receives the personalized care and attention they need. Their comprehensive approach and genuine care for their clients make all the difference. I highly recommend Stonegate for anyone seeking a solid start to their recovery journey.

Before I could get admitted, I had been embarrassed, offended and furious! I was told I didn't have to go to a detox as long as I had my deductible to pay in full at time of admission. PRIVACY!! Right, 2 different people were given my information, on two different days!No need for a reply Austin nor you Logan, I believe the two of you have said enough for me. The disrespect just the two of you alone, is enough for me to know, I don't want to meet any other staff there.

Sadly I would give this place O stars if I could. I hope anyone reading this will please take my experience to heart. Do not send your loved one here under any circumstance. I was met with hostility, abrasiveness, insensitivity, and sarcasm all at once. This sounds impossible however, the individuals in admissions were able to demonstrate all of these things very successfully. Even the director of admissions Austin led with and carried the same chip of abrasive justification for said hostile behavior. I tried to speak with someone else regarding my concerns yet the director of admissions claimed there was no one else I could speak with. I can only imagine how many patients have fallen through the cracks and have been discouraged from getting treatment.Much less being a patient in such a vulnerable position. This is the worst experience I have ever had trying to get my loved one help. Getting sober is a journey and an incredibly vulnerable time. Stonegate Center claims to lead by being Christian yet does not walk in and or show the love of god.(DO NOT)send your loved one here.Sending any loved one here would be exposing them to the lion's den.Help protect your loved ones' choice to get sober and go somewhere else.

My mentally ill alcoholic son, Matt, walked out of STONEGATE Center one year ago today and has never been seen since. He was 45 at the time and was on 7 strong medications. Yet, he was allowed to leave without water, food, ID, phone, medication or money. Matt lived in San Diego and I m certain had no idea that he was walking into a very rural area of Texas with no easily accessible town nearby. And, he obviously was not thinking clearly, as he had nothing with him with which to buy food or water. When the staff standing in for Matt s counselor called me to say Matt was gone, I asked if the facility is out looking for him, knowing that he was not well. His reply was that the Sheriff had been called and was out looking for him. He then said, The Center does not go out looking .Runners always come back .Matt has a 10 year-old son and a family that he is close to, so if he were still alive, we would have heard from him. We hired private investigators, ran a local newspaper article and the Sheriff searched 100 acres around the facility - first with drones, then with cadaver dogs. He is on every Missing Persons Registry, along with my DNA, his finger prints & dental records. Yet, he has never been found. I post this because this facility is certified as Dual-diagnosis , meaning they are trained to deal with the mentally ill, as well as the addicted. Given their remote location and their attitude, I obviously regret entrusting them with my son.

Just finished 34 days here and I learned more about myself in this past month than I ever have in my lifetime. The step work is in depth, and is gone over with staff after each one you complete, to ensure understanding and effectiveness. The staff and counselors made me feel as if I were at home. The bad reviews of the people who were kicked out had several warnings and chances to correct the disruptive behaivors they were displaying before being asked to leave. Stonegate does not allow people to be there and disrupt the ones that truly want to be there. I will recommend this treatment facility to anyone. This is nothing like a state ran facility. All the staff truly are there because they want to be, a lot are in recovery themselves and have walked in our shoes before. I love you all, Bettina, Sydney, America, Lauren, Rachel, Dana, Shonda, Theresa, and Elisha. Thank you Stonegate!

Just finished my program at Stonegate. This facility is gorgeous and the staff treat you very well. I enjoyed my stay here and the 12 step stepwork is extremely helpful and effective. The facility itself is well run and full of love for the clients. I would highly recommend this treatment center to anyone struggling with addiction and/or alcoholism. Bettina, Sydney, America, Lauren, Carter, and Rachel, are all amazing and very helpful- at the women's center. If you re looking for a treatment center to actually take action towards recovery, this is it. Highly recommend and great experience.
