Truly, the worst possible hospital experience I have ever had. A staff and administration in Disarray. Brought my 6 year old son in for severe abdominal pain via ambulance. He was screaming bloody murder and started puking when we had the ambulance grab him. Thought since we came that way we would be a priority. Nope. We waited in the waiting room for an hour before triage called us in. He gave us a cup for a urine sample and told us to go back to the waiting room. Sat in the waiting room with said urine sample for another 45 minutes before called back. It was yet another long wait for X-rays to be taken. The staff was all friendly and helpful, just pretty disappointed in how long everything took. My son ended up being extremely constiptated and thankfully it wasn t anything worse, but I couldn t imagine if we had that wait and it had been something more serious.

I get my chemo done at the infusion center and they used to always offer sandwiches to the people getting cancer treatments done but this summer they decided sandwiches are to expensive so they went to crackers cheese sticks and spicey beef sticks and cookies. This is a shame cause people fighting cancer tend to lose lots of weight and have poor diets. I cannot believe that a sandwich is to expensive then junk food which is basically what they serve. Sure some things are nutritious but most people won't eat them where they would a sandwich. The money they save I am sure goes to someone's wage increase Meanwhile cancer patients struggle to keep weight on VERY SAD

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. At St. Luke's, discharge planning begins when you are admitted to the hospital.

Treatments

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I just received a follow up left knee Cortisone injection by my Orthopedic doctor, Mark Fogarty. I used to assist these injections when I worked at HealthPartners before I retired in 2015. Dr. Fogarty s approach to this injection is precise, effective, and literally very little discomfort. My results from my first injection over six months ago was perfect, I was able to do flower gardening, landscaping, and many projects most 74 year old women wish they could accomplish. Don t hesitate to book an appointment with him, I asked him yesterday to be my husband s Ortho doctor as well.

I called today October 23 at 3:25 p.m. asking for my paperwork for my labs. The receptionist was very loud I asked the receptionist if she didn't talk so loud. She continued to talk and was talking louder. I asked her again and ask why she had to continue to talk loud. Everything I said she ask me again what I meant like I didn't know what I was asking for. People as receptionist as this ruins the Drs office reputation and can make the patient to think about want to see anothers tspecialist

St. Luke s has the worst web site that I ve ever attempted to use! Trying to find out anything is next to impossible. To access my account they ask for my user name. and password. I supplied both and their comeback is. there is no record in our system that neither username or password use! Well I guess I don t exist, I m old and breathing so I must be alive. Besides they sure know where to send the bills to! I give up!if I miss my next appointment or fail to comply with my forgotten Drs orders don t say I didn t try. Maybe I m just too dumb! Stupid new name anyway!

Update! 8/24/24: In the ER, at St. Luke's, I was given my morning medications clearly listed and or known as morning medications (I at least was NEVER asked when my medications were last taken) at 8:45pm to 9:00pm by a Nurse named *Megan.I was groggy/discombobulated, and assumed it was 1. The morning due to the time, and a NURSE would know better, as well as 2. The #1 (Doctor on duty at time, tmk it was the bald pated M.D., not the man with a beard. ) not asking me when I last took them.)I'm still awake as it's 8/25, have eaten nothing and feel like all hell. Obscene bowel movements, insomnia, agitation, etc. Thanks Aspirus/St. Lukes (sarcasm, for the layman)Patient advocates still have not contacted me. I was told by them specific, that in one business day I would be contacted. That would be after I was told *AFTER* being inpatient that I would be called within an hour. No delivery. NOTHING (It's now 8/30/24). And now (Update yo, it's 9/11/24).I was told by a *Raylene that paper grievances "do not exist there". They do. But who am I say? Then, the attending doctor asked me "Why I was even there, as I was there voluntarily" because he was agitated. I was there for severe suicidal agitation. I decided I'd had enough and left. Had I commited suicide....that would be on his shoulders, as he knows. 100% a suicide had I used a firearm, as I was. They happen to be lethal and all. Swerve away from this cracker box.Oh, *Megan also felt like being a joker with nicotine gum and skating off her shift after telling me she will "check on that". I also requested a bendable pencil to write a grievance/draw out of boredom, but was denied that or you know, "forgotten".But, there was a nice heavy duty clickable pen like a G2, that a thoughtful nurse left behind (out of incompetent action/lazy/crazy). What a 3 ring circus. There is a reason for the pen that's bendable. No dice on that. No response. You all know why that's a no no.As far as your "fee fee's", your feelings, I'd say to steer clear of Aspirus/St. Lukes for behavioral health. Theft (un itemized property....then it was never there...get it?) Sadism (Oh, one to some loves them some laughter and hee haws at others expense.)But, the saving grace there is Dr. Stevermer. She's actually an excellent psychiatrist. Attendant to your problems, as they are, very skilled with medication. I would say nothing besides a hearty approval. But, with Cassie as Nurse Manager....yuck dude. Skeletons have closets. And more.

Horrible Service by centralized scheduling and WORSE customer service when I called to complain from the group that is paid to help us as consumers navigate these problems. (Patient Advocate Group)I had an order sent to St Lukes Centralized Scheduling as I need a Bone Density scan for an upcoming procedure - AN IMPORTANT ONE! - it was received by St Lukes on Tuesday Sept 10th - Nucellar Medicine / Central Scheduling was to call and schedule the appointment for the scan - waited - waited AND WAITED - 10 days later I called them - they confirmed receipt of the order as my requesting Dr's Office indicated AND GUESS WHAT HAPPEND NEXT - THE EXCUSES..........AND MORE EXCUSES AND MORE EXCUSES......as to why it had not been scheduled and why I had not been calledI was told it had been sitting waiting for a scheduler to enter it into the system before scheduling could call to set the appointment - good thing it was not life threating.......If I had not have called who knows how long this would have sat on someone's desk - someone buy the way that gets paid to enter this very information - 10 days is totally unacceptable.I called ASL-Padvocate - NO ANSWER - STRAIGHT TO VOICE MAIL (no surprise here as this is standard operating procedure for St Lukes)Left a message - Angle call back several hours later and immediately became OFFENDED by my comments and frustration and refused to help - tried / trying to escalate up to a higher level manager but as everyone knows UPPER MANAGEMENT INSULATES THEM SELVES BY LEAVING NO CONTACT INFORMATION AVAILBLE TO CONTACT THEM WHEN YOU HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THERE GROUP THAT IS SUPPOSED TO HELP.Customer Service is pretty non existent at St Luke -I was hopeful that with Aspire coming in that there might be some changes - no such luck - same crappy customer service and SAME OLD LINE OF EXCUSES.If you are looking for a health care provider I would suggest looking at the competition - YOUR HEALTH AND MAYBE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT....No one from the company has responded to my concerns.

I recently had surgery and was on the 5th floor post op! Nurse Katie was by far the. Best nurse! She made my stay very welcoming and was very compassionate, understanding , and down to earth! She took her time to explain things and was very helpful! Her smile made my day! The surgical team was very nice and things went very good! Dr. Nicholas Johnson is very understanding and goes above and beyond to explain things so you can feel confident on how the procedure is going to be done and what to expect! Overall I was very satisfied with how well everything went
