I am elderly and was having difficulty walking through all the halls. Finally made it. On the way back a young lady staff, Kay, Building D was most gracious putting me in a wheelchair to return to my car. I was parked in A and coming from D. She saved me much stress. She refused a tip, even upon insistance. Bravo young lady, you are one of those unsung heros. So good to meet good people.

Accepted Insurance

Southwest General Health Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Ohio provides comprehensive treatment to address the physical and psychological needs of those struggling with substance use disorders. This may involve inpatient and/or outpatient care.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Appalled we had to come back to this place for a second surgery. No improvement same horrible receptionists. Where is your empathy, compassion? You're not allowed to ask for updates. Zero updates from 945a until 3pm.Don't bother ask patient advocates for help.Surgery waiting area is horrible. Under construction and not a calm environment. Receptionists/check in staff are rude. Sorry you're being asked for an update. Her name was Mikayla. Sorry I asked for updates, but for you to yell at me and call me rude you don't deserve to talk to patient's family this way.

VERY DIRTY AND DISGUSTING. Let me just start by saying how this will be my first and last time ever here!!! My finance got into a car accident and they brought him here. The trooper that took his report was an awfully raised with no manners or respect. He was a very sad excuse to be an officer. Anyways the nurse had made a comment saying he s like that all the time and that even they are scared of him and don t like him.. hmmmm red flag already then they had him sitting in the waiting room with blood everywhere couldn t even offer him some wipes until I got there and asked . Then we finally get called to the back and everyone comes running at once to do test on him. One person can obviously only do a test at a time so a guy grabbed him for his cat scan and the other people never came back before they tried to discharge him within 30 mins of being back there horrible service they tried to say nothing was wrong with him. We will be getting a second look.and if there is there will be a lawyer contacting them because the care he received was pitiful. I have videos and pictures.

Southwest the worst hospital. Unfortunately we were right across the street at the time when my daughter spiked a fever at 103. + The 3 individuals at the front desk absolutely have 0 compassion.I don't know how they could do their job All 3 of them are so rude. Unfortunately they're under staffed and overworked but the patients that come through the door it's their fault for being sick or dying. We sat in the waiting are for 3 hours while our daughter was throwing up a fever of 103 shaking and stomach ache and they could care less . I decided to call Middleburg Heights to transport her to CCF fairview hospital. Unfortunately I was not allowed to do that this outraged security personal yelled at me that I have committed a crime by calling for assistance. He did not explain anything just berated in public. Typical officer no wonder why they get bad name. He Wouldn't even let me talk until I told him iam not committing a crime. Iam a retired police officer and couldn't understand where he was going with this. He then screamed at me and said that means zero to him and he walked away how pathetic. Another half an hour went passed we finally left to go to another hospital to help while I was packing my daughter up in the car. They said they had a room now I was not turning back I already had her packed in the car Heading to another hospital this is disgusting disturbing and one awful hospital to go to.

Not surprised this hospital has low stars. Only reason this is getting 2 stars is for some of the nice nurses. Last time I was here I was admitted with stroke signs so they did every test. The front desk lady was rude and the male nurse that just started there, his first day, first shift was super condescending his whole shift, which thank God he was only with me couple hours. The hospital kept telling me one of the specialists would be in. Hours and hours went by only to find out that they had left hours and hours ago. I was getting the run around just to have me stay another night for nothing. I had to sign myself out because I have 3 kids I have to take care of while my husband works and we don't have anyone to watch them in my absence. So they wasted our time, I got made fun of part of the time I was there, and my husband would have taken another day off for nothing if I hadn't left. This isn't my first terrible experience with this hospital and I would have not come back if they hadn't had a maternity ward. Delivering my babies there wasn't a very good experience either. One of the nurses shamed me for my baby not being able to latch which is a common problem, however, it was my first baby and she made me feel like a bad mom off the start. I had to ask for a different nurse. Just seems like the staff here is 50/50, you either get super nice or super rude. I wouldn't come back unless I absolutely had to.

Billing department hung up on me. And they tried to charge me for an ER visit even though I gave them my insurance and it's accepted by them. I literally showed my insurance card to the nurse when I rolled in on the gurney. Also, just rude and dismissive. One nurse made a kind of rude comment about me hitting the call button. I couldn't move and wasn't supposed to move so I don't know why they made the comment in the first place. Seemed like the nurse just wanted to leave and didn't care which I get. But don't let that effect how you treat patients. I honestly hope I never have to come back here.

Came in for a kidney stone and waited for 3 hours with not even a Tylenol to help with the pain. I left to sit at home in pain until I can go to an urgent care in the morning. I will never come back to this hospital.
