About Seasons In Malibu

Seasons in Malibu is a luxury alcohol, drug, and mental health treatment facility in Malibu, California on a property with ocean views and easy beach access. The program is for adult men and women. The center is CARF accredited and licensed by the State of California. They treat substance use disorder and dual diagnosis (co-occurring) mental health issues. The facility accepts insurance and offers free insurance verification.

They have a doctor on staff who oversees your medical detox, which is the first step upon admission. After detox and a comprehensive assessment, you’ll be given an individualized treatment plan. You’ll skip the detox process if you’re in the stand alone treatment for mental health treatment only.

The center offers inpatient and outpatient programs. In the inpatient program, you’ll live at the facility while receiving support and monitoring around the clock. You’ll receive evidence based therapies like motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT can help you identify triggers for addiction and change the negative thought patterns that are often present in co-occurring disorders like anxiety and depression.

You’ll have as many as 65 individual therapy sessions per month with a doctorate level therapist. You’ll also participate in group therapy. Group therapy offers many benefits including support and encouragement from others going through the same process. It also improves your social skills.

This is a luxury rehab center, and it shows in the amenities. They also use equine therapy to help you build self confidence, trust, and self control. You’ll have the opportunity to engage in holistic activities like yoga, beach walks, and meditation. You can go kayaking, swimming, and surfing. You’ll have nutrition therapy to help you understand the connection between substance use and the depletion of essential bodily nutrients. They also offer art therapy, acupuncture, and access to a private gym and tennis courts.

Tremendously rude stuff. Copious amounts of lying. Beautiful grounds, however, this is not a place for healing.

Accepted Insurance

Seasons In Malibu works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

When they say they offer world class treatment, they’re not lying. I’ve been to two other rehabs in the past. The treatment at Seasons is awesome, the staff is great and the proof is in the pudding. I’m celebrating my 4th year sober. Highly recommended.

If you want a team that believes your unique individual circumstances matter, that tailors treatment to you on a very human level then I would recommend giving them a call. Right now the rehab space is filled with a lot of big corporations that are just in it for a quick buck and move you through like a one-size-fits-all type of assembly line, telling you the typical things you ve already heard a million times, so it s nice that there s a place out there where people actually genuinely care and where they make the extra effort to deal with the complete picture- unpacking toxic relationships, past trauma and loss, I mean you can even get this cool genetic test thing that shows how effective or ineffective different medications are so you aren t wasting time trying a bunch of different things that don t work.If you re ready to actually heal and turn things around, this is the place that will work with you to it happen.

In short, Seasons in Malibu changed my life. I was there for 90 days and every person, every day helped me recover from the depression I was in. Every person who works at Seasons comes from a place of wanting the clients to succeed and it creates an environment of support that leads to healing and recovery from the mental issues and/or addictions that brought you there.Every day, your schedule includes multiple one-on-one sessions. They offer a wide range of modalities and each practitioner embodies their work so completely and believes in the work so deeply that one cannot help but come away feeling a positive change. The different modalities add up to a wholistic change in yourself by taking on issues from a number of entry points - emotional, spiritual, physical. At first, I was skeptical about a few of the modalities but the practitioners were so well educated and dedicated to their work that I my attitude changed and I reaped the rewards in my recovery. Aga, my case manager was invested from the first session we had together and has kept in touch with me after I discharged. My therapist Dr. Ben is the most talented, insightful therapist as I've had. Also, the COO, Dr. Shilati made herself available for any issues or concerns. It is not necessarily a 12 step recovery center but there are so many people who work there that are in 12 step recovery and literature available that it can feel that way if you are looking for it. They offer transportation every morning and evening to 12 step meetings. Including access to Monday through Friday morning meetings on the beach. The location is Lifeguard Tower 10.Lastly, the facilities are of a 5 Star hotel and the chefs who prepare lunch and dinner every day are supremely talented providing a wide variety of multi-course meals.

Words cannot express the amazing experience that I had at Seasons. The facilities and services that are offered make Seasons feel like you are staying at a five star resort. The panoramic views of the ocean make this a wonderful place to focus on your recovery. The amazing meals prepared by a private chef, the beautiful swimming pool and jacuzzi make this place truly a place where you receive luxury treatment .The staff is extremely accommodating and willing to help you in any way possible. The therapists are deeply committed to your well-being and truly work miracles. Weekly sessions include; acupuncture, massage therapy, somatic therapy, cranio-sacral therapy, spiritual therapy, equine therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy and so much more.As I leave Seasons to go back to my world, I feel so strong and healthy. I cannot begin to express my gratitude to each and every person who helped me get my life back on track. It was hard to say goodbye, as the people at Seasons feel more like family and friends than the clinical experts that they are. Season s is a magical place that will change your life.

I spent 30 days in the winter of 2024 at the Seasons professional house and I had a wonderful experience. The staff is very supportive and nurturing. I benefited from all the individual therapy and treatment. When there were group sessions, they were small and focused. The living conditions are very luxurious but serene. The food was delicious. We were also given the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the Malibu fellowship and attend daily meetings on the beach; a special way to start the day. My experience at Seasons gave me a solid foundation with which to build on. I would highly recommend this treatment facility for anyone looking for high level individual care in a very caring environment.

I came to Seasons Dec 1 2023 and stayed 2 months. My experience was profoundly life changing. Starting from the top all the way down to each and every doctor and practitioner, I could tell immediately that they hired the best team possible. The program felt extremely effective because they paired me with the right fit of doctors and practitioners that had experience with the type of trauma/addictions I had. They were very thoughtful and meticulous in the way our program was experienced by meeting as an entire team on a regular basis to make sure everyone knew how progress was being made and what was happening all the time with the clients. I felt seen and heard and paid attention to on a regular basis and they provided me with everything I needed. I would strongly recommend Seasons to anyone and everyone who asks me for a recommendation. I hope I never have to go back, but if I needed treatment again I would go to Seasons.-Kevin
