I called and spoke to a person called Merritt. Its already had enough making the first steps, she was totally irritated with my question, she told me they're were no availability so i asked when will they be. She has yet to answer the question. I began to tell her what plan i had, bcbs she told me they dont accept that, thank you and hung up. If you are only accept cash, say so unless youre trying to avoid saying so for another reason. People that answer these calls need patience. Merritt doesn't have that. Needless to say, I wont be calling back.

I tried to become a patient here. They gaslit me about contacting my insurance to verify care. They kept telling me their insurance verification team was currently on hold to speak to the right department. When I called my insurance to straighten this out my insurance had not received ANY contact from Seasons Malibu to verify my benefits. (Over 24 hours since I submitted my insurance United Healthcare PPO. information to them) Residential is a step up from an IOP/PHP program I am in they told me they refused to have me be a patient because I was yelling at them. I’m a person in crisis and I’m frustrated because you and your team are being dishonest. This is one of the facilities in the country that offer segregated care for women. And I will not go into a coed experience because i have been physically assaulted by men while in other inpatient facilities. Instead of recognizing my frustrations coordinating care. Merritt the intake director said that because of that history and because I believed they were gaslighting me they are refusing my treatment. I feel like I was discriminated against because I was an insurance patient vs cash paying patient and because I am victim of physical abuse going through a mental health crisis. How is a mental health facility not know how to deescalate a situation. The entire time I dealt with Seasons it felt as if they didn’t want me to be a patient. If they fumble this hard at verifying insurance benefits I can only imagine how poor the rest of the facility and staff is handled.

Accepted Insurance

Seasons In Malibu works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

aftercare iconAftercare Support

Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients receiving treatment at an outpatient rehab typically do not require hospitalization or intensive supervision and support. Outpatient addiction counseling and recovery education are often offered during the morning, evening, night, and weekend, allowing clients to tailor treatment to their own schedule. Partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) programs are the most time-intensive and are designed for clients who are at an increased relapse risk and/or who need more robust therapeutic support.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Substances can prevent the absorption of nutrients and cause damage to your body's systems. Nutrition therapy in California addresses the deficiencies in vitamins and minerals that are caused by substance abuse.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

When they say they offer world class treatment, they’re not lying. I’ve been to two other rehabs in the past. The treatment at Seasons is awesome, the staff is great and the proof is in the pudding. I’m celebrating my 4th year sober. Highly recommended.

Response from the owner
This is the same person, Jasmine Artle, harassing us under an assumed name. We hope she gets the help she needs.
The allegations here are not true and unfortunate. Seasons runs hundreds of insurance checks (“VOBs”) every month, so the idea that we would not check benefits is not credible, it’s a large part of our lifeblood. It is true that in early October, due to the Jewish holiday, most out-of-network providers like Seasons were experiencing long wait-times to get live benefit checks, and her particular provider requires the patient to call them and give verbal permission to check benefits before Seasons can verify benefits. This was explained to her. But Jasmine turned irate with admissions staff, accusing them of “gaslighting her,” then followed up with repeated calls, from multiple phone lines, yelling that she was suicidal and in crisis. At that point, staff properly recommended she call 911 or go to the ER. Seasons operates from a place of integrity and does not favor insurance vs. private pay clients.

DO NOT send your loved ones to this treatment center. This place promised comprehensive family support and I received nothing but a 20-minute phone call. I received no help from these folks who claim to be a top of the line facility. If you are looking for a treatment center for the most important person in your whole world, make sure you understand exactly what family support means. I wish I would’ve asked more questions, because Seasons really missed it.

I loved everything about the Beach House at the Seasons in Malibu. The staff was amazing and the setting beautiful. I felt very spoiled because all my needs were graciously met. An added bonus was that the food was superb! We did some really fun outings every Saturday. I spent 30 days there and I achieved my goals. It was worth every penny, and I would highly recommend it to anyone needing a treatment center…

Well, I have 92 days of sobriety following my 6 week stay at Seasons! I was in a bad, sad state of mind, body and spirit when I arrived. My experience there was life changing. I attribute this to the indisputable staff to include...highly trained therapists, caring and passionate case manager, attentive medical staff, skilled and friendly office staff, chefs who create amazing food, client support staff who care for you between sessions and into the night and all the healing modalities staff. They have fine tuned a program to include a daily schedule of therapy that help you understand and address addiction, emotional pain, spirituality and help create a aftercare plan that is working for me. I don't have the words to express my gratitude for what they have done for me. My life has turned around. Keeping this takes work, but as I do the work and experience the progress, I am inspired to live my life as fully as I can. Thank you Don who created this place. Thank you to the entire staff, you changed me for the better. Barbara Scott in Bend, Oregon
