Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating Disorder Treatment

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Carol in mammography was amazing. My husband has a fatal disease and she not only provided my mammogram but also took time to really take care of me in my situation. Her compassion was what I needed today. She was wonderful.

this is the worst hospital layout i ve ever seen. there were no labeled maps, the hallways were a maze. i wandered for 20 minutes no one offered assistance. i saw several other people looking lost and confused. there were paper signs with arrows that sometimes helped and sometimes made it more confusing. the buildings did not have visible numbers or letters from the outside, i could not find a map online of the facility.

I am a job coach and we work through vocational rehab. We serve our clients with disabilities and non disabilities obtain jobs and job trained them if help needed. My client was turned on for their cleaning custodian position because I was helping her, discrimination against people with different background and disabilities. What a shame.

My dad was visiting from out of town and ended up in ICU this past week. St. Marks staff and hospital were incredible. He had a partial lung removal a few months back, his lung collapsed here as well as some other health issues occurred all at the same time. They saved his life!! The ER staff saved his life and the rest of staff got him going and my parents back on the road home. A huge shout out to his nurses in ICU Hailey (blond) and Keegin. They went above and beyond taking care of my parents and insuring he had the best care possible during their shift. Hailey might be best nurse we have ever had. Keegin even checked on us on another shift of his when we were not his patient also a shout out to the cardio thoracic team and to Dr Dance and her family medicine team. Really not enough words to say thank you for all everyone did this past week. Being sick and in the hospital is bad enough but being out of town and so far away was extra scary. Everybody who touched us, thank you!!!!!!

My husband went to the ER at St Marks and I just received the bill. No breakdown of the cost. I called the number on the bill to get an itemized statement. I cannot get ahold of anyone to talk to. It is all automated. We had to go there because it is in network with our insurance. Wish I had other options to go to for the future.I called the billing dept from the response given to my review. It is the same phone number I have been calling and literally cannot get ahold of a person.

I was harassed by ER nurses after they referred me to Dr. Nielsen, a doctor who does not accept my insurance. Despite my concerns, the nurses insisted that Dr. Nielsen was handpicked, familiar with my case, and that he does indeed accept my insurance, even going so far as to call me a liar. They refused to send my referral to Intermountain, where I could have received the heart testing covered by my insurance. Instead, they chose to question my understanding of which providers accept SelectHealth. The police informed me that this kind of situation is not uncommon. Thank you for the added stress and fear of going without the necessary heart testing I m sure that s great for my heart. I ve reported you to HCA ethics line. Note: There is no letter as pictured and this is the only help I ve gotten.
