You are treated like a prisoner here. Nobody comes around to check on people. So you can really die and nobody would know. Second shift is extremely lazy and rude. They do not want to pass meds a second earlier even if you re going through it. Mostly men are here only 4 women. Men bully women over the phone. They don t let you use the phone until after dinner which is ridiculous. Phone should be on all day long. They do have snacks and drinks all day available. The overall meals are disgusting. No smoking. Lost some of my clothes idk how when I came in by myself. They give you a lot of meds and the meds made me feel horrible. There was a point I was going to tell them have 911 come get me. The male Counselor Kevin was great. However they never booked my after care. Then when I tried getting an appointment for IOP after discharge they couldn t get me for a month. There was a male Nurse can t remember his name he light skin black he was great!

Hartford HealthCare Rushford works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers short-term intensive rehab for those who don't require 24-hour care. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down option after being released from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program can provide medication management, relapse prevention strategies, and behavioral therapy interventions. With daily sessions lasting up to 8 hours for up to 5 days a week, the duration can vary with the average being 90 days.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Connecticut provides the professional support that is often necessary to break free from drug dependency. With proper treatment, individuals can make changes that restore balance and health to their lives and achieve long-term recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

My brothers ended up here two weeks ago. As he has special needs, I wanted to speak to his clinician, not to get information about his treatment plan, although I know he always signs the release for them to speak to me as I am his only family, but more to give them background on his life up until this point, as we all know addiction can cause people to be less than honest and only share so much. I have literally left 6 messages so far and no returned phone calls. I called the last place he was at to see what I should do, they told me to insist on speaking to a director and they gave me a phone number, I left a message at 10AM received a call back at 5:00PM and the person was less than pleasant, I apparently called a different location and she wanted to give me the number for Middletown, no thank you already have it, can't you get a message to the right person? You after all are within the organization when I asked for that, I got a huge sigh and an okay let me just take care of that for you with such ATTITUDE!! 24 hours and still no phone call. When I went to visit I had issues as well, I got caught in traffic and tried calling to let them know and left once again 6 messages, not call back or anything. When I got there door was locked and a note on it saying I would have to wait till next visiting slot. When we visited, an employee sat in the room we were in the entire time, is that really necessary I feel as though it's an invasion of privacy. Before I left I expressed my concerns and once again asked for a message to be relayed and also was questioning if I could bring a birthday cake and gifts at our next visit as the day after is his birthday I was told they would find out...no word.My concern is my brother is "special needs" and has addiction issues and if I am being ignored so to speak, how are they treating him?!? Wouldn't it be helpful to talk to his only family for insight? Apparently not.Just confused.

needed help and they had me sitting there for hours til i had to be hospitolized. it should not take hours to get help when your in serious need things need to happen fast. and no smoking is very difficult for people coming in. they should atleast allow that for their patients

So I m in a tough place here. I absolutely cannot recommend the detox program with Rushford enough. They re kind, caring and make sure that you re never uncomfortable. They treat you like an individual and not just another person in line. They care, they want to see you succeed. Unfortunately I fell through the cracks which is no fault of there s. I just have to be kinda sorta homeless between my discharge and when I get into a 30+ day program. From the nurses, clinicians, cafeteria workers and everything else. This place truly cares about you succeeding and making sure that you, personally are OK

This place is a joke. Inexperienced, unprofessional and disrespectful. The way they run this place is a disservice and dangerous to people trying to get help. I am willing and ready to get sober for the first time in many years. Rushford strung me along for 4 days. They promised me a bed 3 days in a row and setup a time for me to come in, only to have them cancel 2 hours before I was supposed to be there. They did this 3 days in a row. Then on the 4th day I got in. I showed up at 9am. They took all my stuff, I did all the screenings and everything seemed good to go. Then I met with a nurse and spent an hour answering her questions. Then she left saying she had to submit everything. I waited another hour, only for her to come back and tell me the medical director determined they weren't able to accept me because I possibly had ascites (a very common symptom in alcoholics where youre basically extremely bloated) Are you kidding me!? They're a medical detox, part of Hartford Hospital and they can't handle this. Plus they wasted 4 days that I could've been admitted somewhere else. Im seriously considering hiring an attorney.

I recently left the clinic and I have to say it was amazing. How well they treated me and how attentive they were to my needs. I highly recommend this place.

After completing the detox and inpatient program myself, I would not recommend this place for recovery. Detox was a good program but the inpatient program leaves much to be desired. You go to the staff about concerns about the room conditions as I had bed bugs and they tried to convince me they weren't bed bugs and I was exaggerating. I'm talking to my father about a bad day I was having and was trying to stay in the program and a staff member was basically provoking me to leave in the morning. Very unprofessional and hindering for someone trying to recover and having to stress about situations that shouldn't have been an issue in the first place.Me and many other residents has had our items lost and missing on numerous occasions. When I was discharged, they even gave me items that weren't even mine and the process to find them if they even could was a headache. Some of the staff were great and the sessions, although repetitive did help in ways but overall would not advise going to the facility. Hopefully in time they heed out these issues and work on their structure so these issues will not be a problem in the future for recovering addicts
