Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

When you enter a drug rehab in Utah, the process usually involves four stages: treatment initiation, early abstinence, maintaining abstinence, and advanced recovery. Treatment methods can rely on medications, counseling, or both, in either an outpatient or inpatient setting.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

How can a facility do good business if you can not even take the first step and answer the phone? I have been trying to communicate with them for more than a week and I have not been able to contact anyone, I think it would be better to look elsewhere!

Unhelpful and rude

Response from the owner6 months ago
Hi Vasilisa, it looks like you had an unpleasant experience with Red Willow. I would be interested to know in what way we were "unhelpful and rude". We don't have any record of you receiving any of our services, nor does anyone have any recollection of a phone call or other interaction. If you are having emotional challenges, it's important to me that you get the support you need. Please contact me directly so that I have an opportunity to make this right. James

They don t accept Medicare

Response from the owner1 year ago
Medicare does not accept us. I suggest you direct your frustration at the healthcare system and federal bureaucracy, rather than at a local mental health agency trying to help people. We have completed the laborious Medicare application twice over the years and have been rejected both times. Also, I don't know of any other mental health agency that is in-network with Medicare. It is a systemic issue.

Counselors there are absolutely awesome would recommend them to everyone. Receptionist on other hand is an absolute horrible mean person. Hung up on me while after I was being polite and understanding and got treated like dirt. I'm a little upset over the situation at hand. two thumbs way down on the professionalism from that woman. Not something you would expect from some one that is there to help hurt people.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hi Anthony, I'm glad that you have had such a good experience with our therapists, and sorry to hear that you had a difficult interaction with our receptionist. It is our policy to charge people who do not show up for scheduled appointments and who do not provide us with adequate notification. We look forward to continue to provide you with excellent therapeutic services. Please contact me if you would like to discuss this further. James

When I arrived at Red Willow almost 4 years ago, I had no idea what to expect. I was sick and tired and not sure of I even had a future. Although nothing about recover is easy, I am incredibly grateful to Red Willow for providing a safe space where I could grow to accept my own relationship with addiction and start to build a relationship with myself again. I am currently working with them to expand the alumni community and am excited to continue to my relationship with them as continue on my own growth path. Nate, the IOP director is an amazing human. He was the first person to teach me to meditate and to put me in touch with shadow work, both of which were key to my healing. Nicole, who is now a therapist, was my case manager during that time, and was always considerate and thorough. I am very grateful for the experience I had.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Thank you DeAnn! Addiction is a horrible disease; we are honored to be a part of your recovery. We have an amazing program and talented clinicians.

BIPOC COMMUNITY BE AWARE *not a safe spaceThe therapist there was good, great first introductory meeting; however, getting into the therapist is another story. Good luck getting past the warden or front desk receptionist. Very ill-mannered lacks people skills which questionable for a counseling center. Why would they would have someone like that as the face of their business? Horrible customer service, insulting, did not explain or tell me that a deductible was needed to be met but instead charged my card for over $100.When I asked why she didn't explain that to me before charging my card like most receptionist would do in the situation as I was standing in the front office when she charged my card. She became very defensive, spewed out a response, and hung up the phone. A simple explanation that the deductible needed to be met and authorization to charge the card for over $100 instead of the expected regular co-pay would have been the proper way to handle the situation. But instead, the receptionist was very rude, very contentious, very unprofessional, which made for a very unpleasant experience. And now that I think about it, I waited in the front office after paying for a good four-five minutes. When the therapist came down to get me, she was surprised stating, she had been waiting, and the receptionist usually sends her a message notifying her when a patient arrives. Yet, they had not, so I m wondering if this is a part of the situation. If maybe I was profiled. If perhaps the receptionist did not like me for whatever reason, being a woman, being a woman of color, they claim that it s a safe space on the door. However, I feel that I was single out and treated in a very ill-manner for whatever reason. It s unfortunate, whatever the reason is; however, I would like to WARN others, especially of the BIPOC Community, because what other reason would she not have for doing her JOB unless personal malicious intentions. If you still want to try your luck here, be aware of your dealings with the front desk receptionist and make sure that you note her interactions as she is very conniving and sly with her intentions? Don t just take my word for it. Read the reviews before mine about money dealings here. Smh shameful. People go there for different reasons but all for help, but instead, we have to deal with an entitled front desk receptionist causing trauma. Again very unfortunate because I enjoyed the therapist.

Our agency has therapists and clients from diverse races, ethnicities, and sexual orientation. We promote equality and mutual respect from all staff. We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with this information. We would welcome a discussion on this matter privately to more fully understand the exact nature of the complaint as it is uncharacteristic of any feedback we have received before. Follow up: Thank you for taking the time to resolve this issue, we hope you continue to receive benefit from our services.
