About Red Hawk Behavioral Health

This treatment program helps adolescent girls with substance abuse, ADHD, oppositional defiance disorder (ODD), depression, anxiety, adoption-related issues, or trauma (PTSD) from childhood physical, mental, or sexual abuse or tragedy. Red Hawk uses cycle of hope therapy phases, equine therapy, recreational therapy, academics, dialectical behavior therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy to help girls heal.

Phase one of treatment is evaluation and assessment. Phase two is individualized treatment with therapy. Phase three is continuing care and community resources. Day-to-day treatment consists of goal-setting, therapy, education, homestead work, and activities that focus on trauma resolution. Each resident continues to work with her therapist 30 days after completing phases 1 and 2 of her Red Hawk Program.

This facility accepts Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Assurant, and Humana. Check directly with your provider to verify coverage and out-of-network benefits.

If you are reading this please do not consider bringing your daughter here. I went here for 15 months, I left with more trauma than I came in with. The staff here are untrained, as so the Sonny, he is openly racist and homophobic. He e girls rub his feet, and clean his apartment. They discriminate on struggling girls. The other reviews on this are people that Sonny knows, he talks about how he knows the whole neighborhood, and has people that know nothing about this facility write reviews, mentioning him every time.

The only program that has been successful for our family is Red Hawk Academy (RHA). She has been in three different programs, two of which she was expelled due to her defiance and conduct. RHA offers a safe and caring environment. The staff listen to us and guide us to making the best decisions for our family and our daughter. RHA offers encouragement and support to our daughter. It is hard to think about where my daughter would be if we did not seek help for her last year. Words of wisdom, when you call a program or visit a program, pay attention to your gut instinct. Ask for the telephone numbers of parents who have had a daughter in the program. Not all therapeutic boarding schools are bad and abusive. Talk to the head of the school/program and make sure you feel heard and understood by that person. The first time I called Valerie at RHA, I had a really good feeling. She had a positive attitude and answered each and every question I asked. She was not evasive and she was forthright with her responses. I am truly indebted to RHA...the school has saved my daughter!

This place is amazing for your teenage daughter that is “going through it”. They are full of compassion, understanding, experience and knowledge that helps your troubled teenager get acclimated and open up. Hurt people hurt. You can do it parent/guardian! Help is out there, give them a call, and don’t stop until you get a response. Good luck to you and keep your head up!

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

I wish to write a review that speaks to parents, grandparents, guardians, any loving individual that is trying to "give a better life or save a life ". I just picked my daughter up from graduating Red Hawk Academy for Girls. Personally, I feel we saved her life. She chose life. At what point she decided on life I do not know. My daughter ended her freshman year in high school with 42 missing assignments and a suspension. Prior to this, she was on the honor role. The decline was drastic. She had given up. She had substance abuse issues, self-harm, outbursts, suicidal behavior, you name it. Our home was not safe, she was not safe. A formal psych eval was performed, multiple therapists, but every 3 days, something big was documented. We could not get through 3 days in our home without some big catastrophe! I began looking at Inpatient RTC programs. Something most parents only threaten, but never follow through. I applied to the first place and was DENIED entry. I was devastated! Because my daughter's history of suicidal behavior they would not take her. So now what!?! They referred me to another program. That place didn't respond to my application. I was then approved to send her to Wilderness. 10 weeks for a sweet price. But only 10 weeks? I was very very tempted but not willing to chance that short term risk. I called a hotline... Told them my story.. Same story I had told 3 other times. They directed me to Val at Red Hawk Academy. I didn't jump at Red Hawk Academy right Away. I was a mother still frightened and in denial by the devastating reality of our situation. I waited longer for even more events to happen at home. I finally made "THE" call to Val for help. I then committed to do the hardest thing I ever did in my life. I had them send their transport team to my home in secret, pick up my daughter and escort her to Red Hawk Academy for what would be just shy of the next year of her life. Guess what that program did for my girl? They saved her life!!! She is thriving. She has learned self-love, self-care, how to be a mentor, a sister. She found that she loves to help other people and hopes to go to college. I mean she WANTS to go to school!!! She genuinely puts the needs of others before herself. I'm not going to just thank one or two people at Red Hawk. Every single person there helped my daughter! They have created a family there that helped my daughter thrive. In my girls own words she said "You forced me to come here and now I'm being forced to leave." As a family we have learned to communicate. I will thank Val for that. My daughter learned to work hard doing hard labor that is almost unheard of in this day in age, Sonny thank you for that. Mel, thank you for the horse therapy!!!! Anita, thank you for making sure she was taken to all her med appointments and going through all the mail. To all the girls, thank you for being her sisters! The first time I visited her, it was apparently clear she felt more at home with you than me. That is a hard pill to swallow for a mom. To all staff thank you! You loved my daughter every second I could not and even when hard and disciplined that was representing what I could not give. It shows in her now. To all prospective parents, you must have trust and faith. Obviously, whatever you're doing is not working. I believe in my heart that I saved my daughter's life. At the very least, I and my husband presented her a chance at a better life. The rest is up to her. Red Hawk Academy exists!!!! Utilize them. They help provide the tools. It's up to your child if they want to succeed or not. Luckily for me, my daughter is choosing life!!! Thank you, Red Hawk!!!!
