Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Instensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Intensive Outpatient Program at Recovery Keys is a part-time, yet intensive schedule. The program meets for approximately 10 to 15 hours a week for eight weeks or longer to help patients practice the skills they need for a lasting recovery, overcome shame and guilt, and gain confidence in their ability to live a full, productive, healthy and sober life.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex & Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA). The Twelve-Step Group is at the core of treatment at Recovery Keys. The Twelve-Step Group is based on the guiding principles of twelve-step recovery programs, which have long been used to help people struggling with alcoholism, substance abuse and other dependencies.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for ~ 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals. Recovery Keys’ Day Treatment / Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) meets five days a week for a total of 20 to 25 hours, for approximately four weeks.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Detox at Recovery Keys is closely supervised by board-certified physicians who specialize in addiction medicine to ensure safety and patient comfort. Recovery Keys’ caring and highly trained therapists and counselors are available to support each of our patients. Some of our addiction counselors and recovery therapists have undergone their own detox and alcohol and drug rehabilitation process. Many years into their own successful recovery, they truly understand what it means to walk in our patient’s shoes. They have dedicated their lives to helping others achieve sobriety, are there to offer encouragement, inspiration and insights that help patients achieve their own sobriety and long-lasting recovery.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CMT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse. Cognitive behavioral therapy helps clients identify and correct thought patterns that have led to unhealthy, destructive behaviors.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder. Dialectical behavior therapy, in which clients learn to practice mindfulness as a way to manage stress, build feelings of self-worth and cope with cravings.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life. Patients at Recovery Keys receive intensive, individualized attention during one-on-one therapy. In a confidential, judgment-free environment, patients can feel safe expressing their feelings and emotions, including shame, guilt and anger, and talking about highly personal experiences that have contributed to their addiction.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Because family support can be a critical component of recovery, Recovery Keys drug and alcohol rehab program offers Family Education and Support lead by a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist to help spouses, partners, parents and other key members of the patient’s support system understand the disease of addiction, and learn practical ways to support their loved one’s recovery. At the beginning of treatment, the patient’s identified support person(s) is contacted by our family therapist shortly after admission to help open communication lines and to provide them with a copy of our family handbook.

Life skills are the core skills you need for daily success. They can include self care, stress management, daily routines, and emotion control. Rehab treatment includes the development of these skills so you have the tools you need for long term recovery.

Substance abuse creates biochemical imbalances in your body and brain. By implementing dietary changes, you can restore that balance. This is the goal of nutrition therapy in Florida. You'll gain an understanding of what nutrients your body needs and learn best self care practices.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Recovery Keys changed my life. The facility was very discrete, clean, and comfortable. The staff members there are very professional and highly qualified to handle all types of recovery. Just like everyone, I was skeptical and embarrassed about seeking treatment and I was pleasantly surprised about how wonderful the experience was. All of the employees and doctors there truly care about all of their patients on a personal level. I wasn't treated like a patient, I was treated like a person that wanted and needed help. I am going to miss everyone that helped me in my recovery process and I plan on stopping back in from time to time to say hello to all of the people that saved my life. I highly recommend this treatment center to anyone that is looking for a new wonderful way of life. I cannot thank Recovery Keys enough for everything that they did for me.

Worst place I've ever been to for "help"!!!!! I went every single day like they ask, for 5 hours a day, its an hour drive for me. Not to mention having to drop my 3 small kids off at grandmas for all that time. I opened up like they wanted did all their counseling groups, I took my drug test every day, vitals and lots of waiting. Not to mention they do not give you anything to drink or eat while you are there for all this time. I was only there for 5 days when out of nowhere 3 Of them surrounded me in a small Room and told me I could no longer go there and be a patient due to my extreme grief due to my four-year-old passing away in a fiery car accident, post Tramatic stress disorder and other things. They told me I needed to go into inpatient immediately, and just find a place for my children to go. They talked about my kids like they were nothing like they were just animals, and could survive on their own. Ive been through so much with my daughter passing away I couldn't imagine leaving them again so I told them no I could not do that It just wasn't possible. So they discharged me then the next day call DCF on me because they said I was unable to care for my children because of them I had to do deal with dcf, more stress!! which was actually not a problem because I passed every single thing with flying colors. They closed the case after 15 minute appointment with the lady at my house. The point is this place is a joke just out to get your money not to help you they do-nothing to help you . They won't give you proper sleep medication depression medication or even suboxone you can cry beg and tell them how messed up you are doesn't matter the doctor will not listen to you, its their way or the highway.

The best treatment team around! I love the individual treatment plan, they don't have a "one size fits all" plan. The group sizes are small and affords "groupies" the opportunity to really get to know one another and build bonds. They teach how to LIVE life and find serenity. If you go to Recovery Keys and really open yourself up and are willing to do what they recommend, you will come out a happier, healthier person. I highly recommend them and wish that everyone who is struggling in life could find their way here. I love it so much, I may never leave....
