I have been through multiple counselors programs and doctors and they have always been amazing, only one doc I didn't exactly love but she was ok . Otherwise everyone is great especially Andrea, she is the best person I have ever delt with, she listens never judges and is always understanding when it comes to anything life throws our way. She genuinely cares and does her job to the best of her ability and it shows. I have no complaints with her at all. They are extremely busy as a whole so regardless who or what your going for it's a bit of a wait for appointments, that's the only reason for the4 stars instead of 5. But between Andrea and her nurses and even the girls at the front desk to the pharmacist, they do anything and everything they can to accommodate your needs, to me it's worth the wait and they are on it anyway even if u can't get in for an appointment right away they actually care about you and its obvious they do! I'm so happy to have Andrea and her team on my side ! Thanks for being awesome !

A family member of mine recently stayed in their inpatient facility. As a mental health professional myself, I know that the system has its imperfections but I have never witnessed abuse from a health professional like I did at this facility while visiting my relative. Dr. Verma is dangerous and should have her license revoked. It truly broke my heart to witness how these individuals were treated. It seemed as though staff members followed her lead and treated patients the same as she.

Accepted Insurance

Our Policy: Porter Starke Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact us to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
When families plan a drug intervention in Indiana, the goal is to create self-awareness in their loved one, so they acknowledge the need for treatment and get help. A professional interventionist can work with the individual's family members to organize this intervention and provide direction for follow-up. During the intervention, loved ones share how the individual's substance abuse has affected them, and the interventionist adds a clinical perspective on how treatment can help the situation.
aftercare iconAftercare Support

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Qualified therapists in Indiana use a customized treatment approach for individual therapy to address your drug and alcohol addiction treatment. This considers your past history and life circumstances to help you uncover the underlying issues that trigger addictive behavior and manage these factors to support a healthy approach to recovery.

The goal of family therapy in Indiana is to empower family members to effectively support their loved one's recovery. Therapists work with family members to develop the skills needed to manage stress and resolve conflicts successfully. This fosters a positive environment that is conducive to long term sobriety.

In couples therapy, you and your partner work with a psychologist to identify challenges in the relationship and what changes need to be made. You'll work on listening, communicating, and navigating those changes in healthy ways.

During trauma therapy in Indiana, your therapist helps you process traumatic experiences and learn how they affect your emotional, mental, and physical responses. You learn effective coping strategies that help to reduce the symptoms and improve your mental health and well being.

When you participate in cognitive behavioral therapy in Indiana, you'll learn to recognize distorted thinking that has led to substance use. Your therapist will help you establish new patterns of thinking and healthy ways to cope with challenges that don't involve substance use.

I don't know why they have a phone if they never answer it. Then the times they have available for counseling are really inconvenient to work into your schedule.

This office is HORRIBLE! For 2 months now my husband and I have been promised we would be a returned phone call for investigation for misdiagnosis and not properly diagnosing my child . Allowing whoever and whatever to bring in my son while his other parent in for treatment. Allowing his therapist to tell a minor child do not tell your mom the medication medications are not even coming home correctly . We have called and called and called . The therapist when the school and my son had report some serious issues did not follow protocol with state reporting . They never return a phone call especially when it is a legal parent ! My son has needed his medication up for 2 months now and his other parental refuses to have it up or give the medication properly and the staff is doing nothing about it or reporting or involving my husband and I . They just keep avoiding . We were promised a 10000 times Sandy Carlson would be in contact with us and has never once returned a phone call or nothing . This office needs to be turned in and shut down ! For not following protocol or their staff

We ll look at that. A year later and same issues with this office. Best recommendation I have for anyone looking to use this place, look else where. You will regret picking this place. Except Dr. Mary, she is amazing. Other than that you will go through hell here. My oldest is on her 3rd therapist in less than a year. A testing appointment we ve waited since November for just got rescheduled for the 2nd time. An hour before our appointment!Just keep looking.Staff at the reception desk is horrible. 1st appointment was told both parents could be in the room. Get there and nope we can t have both parents. 2nd appointment, follow up 3 months later. Get there and they tell us my appointment is until the 19th. I said there s no way because I have an appointment the 19th that I could not reschedule so I would never of made it for that day. Now we will end up waiting another 2-3 months for an appointment. Completely unacceptable.

My boyfriend had a psychiatrist appointment today and it was the biggest waste of time.TLDR, Dr O'shea didn't listen my boyfriend when he informed her of his medical and prescription history and instead of giving him the medication he needed and asked for, prescribed him a new anti-depressant and a medication he told her didn't work for him.My boyfriend and I recently relocated here from Colorado. When we relocated, my boyfriend needed to get his prescriptions refilled so he attempted to make an appointment at Porter Starke, however, they were booked 3 months in advance so he scheduled the appointment anyway but also found a virtual psychiatrist that would be able to see him immediately. Due to the virtual nature, they aren't able to prescribe controlled substances, like xannax. My boyfriend has been taking xannax for the past 5-ish years as needed. He has no history of abuse and has never had problems with being prescribed this medication before. He was able to get his other prescriptions in order but needed an in-person appointment in order to receive a new prescription for xannax. When he arrived, he informed Dr O'shea of his medical and prescription history and let her know that his virtual psychiatrist had already recommended that he receive xannax but because he is virtual, he couldn't actually provide the prescription. Dr O'shea told him that he should take Hydroxyzine instead. He told her that he had taken that medication before but it doesn't work for him for a variety of reasons. She prescribed it to him anyway regardless of that fact that he told her that it doesn't work and isn't what he needs.Additionally, He told Dr O'Shea that his virtual psychiatrist had changed his anti-depressants within the past two months and had also upped his dose of the new meds within the past two weeks, and was waiting for the updated effects of the dosage to kick in. Dr. O'Shea prescribed him a new anti-depressant even though he didn't ask for one nor need one, and was still in the process of adjusting to new medication dosages. We waited 3 months for this Dr. to not listen to anything that he said about his medication history and preferences and then prescribe him medications that he didn't need nor want.

They suggested that their patients fill their prescriptions at meijer pharmacy, but meijer pharmacy are always out of their medications, stating supply problems from the manufacturer. Not so,! the supply problem are from their own distribution system and that's where Porter Stark get their medication from and that why they are always out of stock also,I recommend switching to CVS Pharmacy.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Thank you for your feedback. We know medication supply issues have been impacting many pharmacies nationwide. Although we cannot speak to that pharmacy s issues, our nursing staff is here to help with medication concerns. Please call us at 219.476.4587 if you would like to discuss this further.
