I tried calling there twice as this is the closest place to my home to find a therapist.Yesterday, when I called, the lady was rude upfront, and her computer system was not working so wanted to call back today, so she could not schedule yesterday. I explained her, that I saw the Blue Cross site and their place came up as the nearest one to schedule a therapist appointment with Prasad.Today, I called again, first she got mad at me for not selecting the Option 1, because that's the selection for new patients. Well okay, I told her, I tried 5 times and waited a few times, but kept going to voicemail, and I told her that, she said, ah our system is new probably that's why. I asked again to schedule an appointment with Prasad, just like yesterday, she said, Prasad is a Doctor, not a therapist, so can't have an appointment with him. Well okay? You could have told me that yesterday, I would have gone somewhere else.As a first time seeking for a therapist, a patient who needs help, why are you so rude to them? Okay, I guess you are too busy, and have too much money, that you don't need more business.

Accepted Insurance

Oakland Psychological Clinic of Michigan – Lake Orion works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Michigan provides personalized treatment to help individuals break this cycle and regain control of their lives. Treatment methods are used in various levels of care, including inpatient rehab, partial hospitalization programs, intensive outpatient programs, and standard outpatient treatment.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy sessions in Michigan allow you to share responsibility with your peers in a group setting. This fosters a collective commitment to achieve sobriety and learn coping skills that are essential to improving your relationships and reducing your stress levels.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

During motivational interviewing, therapists express empathy, support self efficacy, and develop discrepancies. By using these techniques, therapists help clients reflect on their desires for change and understand why and how they should move forward with those changes.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

To maintain a healthy and productive life, you need certain life skills. They help you make good decisions and build good relationships. Because they are key to long term recovery, most rehab programs in Michigan include integrated life skills training.

I have been see Elizabeth virtually on and off for months now. She is extremely professional and kind and is well educated in mental health. I also see Dr. Haque for medication and he is the same. He puts your health first when prescribing medication and stays on top of dosing when you are struggling. The front desk is always kind on the phone and with billing as well.

I brought my preteen daughter here to be counseled by Janet Smith. It was a complicated situation and I was unable to simply refuse to return to her, but Janet was unpleasant and condescending from the moment we first spoke. She repeatedly criticized my daughter, commented on her looks and her weight, repeatedly ignored her needs, and gave her no practical advice in the entire time she was forced to be exposed to this person. Janet favored my ex and her false claims about me over what I and my daughter were telling her. When I brought up my concerns about how inappropriate it was that she was consistently criticizing my daughter's physical appearance, she stated "well your daughter is overweight" as if that justified her actions. My daughter began to get physically ill before her sessions with Janet, needing to be coaxed and bribed to even get into the car to go see her. The anxiety and distress this woman caused my child got so bad that my child became suicidal because of it. When I begged Janet to step away and remove herself from my child's care due to this, she refused and insisted that somehow she could clear things up just by speaking to the people who were currently treating her.Janet Smith is a biased, insensitive quack who shouldn't be counseling a dog let alone a person. She is rude and abrasive and she used her position to psychologically abuse a child. DO NOT book an appointment with this woman.

The first time I scheduled an appiontment the receptionist must have not put it down on their schedule because I arrived to my appointment and there was no one to see me. The second time I was scheduled for an appointment I told I was going to be seen via a telephone call but then I never received a call, even after calling the office multiple times. Very dissapointed. It should not be this hard to get help when you are struggling with depression. Looking elsewhere.

The doctors we nice to work with but the billing is a huge mess. Do not allow them to hold your debit card information to charge after visits!! They never ONCE charged my card properly and the last time was for over $100 for a $17 visit in March and it s the end of May and I still haven t received a refund. I tried calling to check on it as they sent me another bill that I refuse to pay since they still owe me a ton of money back and they had no refund in process STILL and had no idea why I received a bill. Probably would ve continued here if it wasn t for the administration being a disaster.

I went there a year ago and I was going through a rough time however I never claimed to be suicidal but they still tried to force me go to heavenwyk or see their doctor. I lied and said I had to go to work so I could leave. This year I was I decided maybe I was to quick to judge so I tried to make an appointment but they sent 10 pages of paperwork that are pretty personal and really could be discussed in therapy it s self and then the worst part is that it s sent to all the office staff and it made me feel mildly uncomfortable even though they may not go through it I feel like that info should only be in the hands of your therapist. Long story short I don t recommend.

I do not recommend going here if you consider yourself different. They made me feel worse about myself because I had depression and anxiety. Don t be truthful if you go because they want you to feel worse about yourself.

There are several five star reviews below that are fabricated, and I would assume likely paid for. In checking some of them, a few reviewers live in many different cities all over the country all at the same time. To me, this is a shameful and unprofessional business practice, to purposely mislead people in this way. As for the actual services at the clinic I feel the doctors and counselors do a good job, but the office staff is absolutely horrible. They seem to struggle with nearly every facet of their jobs. With employers who pay for fake reviews I guess it shouldn t be any surprise.
