I'm giving two stars because while the care we received from the providers was excellent, our experience with the billing department was disappointing. My husband received a bill that didn t reflect insurance for all dates of service. I called in August, informing them I would settle the bill once all dates of service were correctly processed through insurance, and was told this was fine, with instructions to disregard the current bill.In September, we received an updated bill with everything correctly processed. However, before I could make a payment, a portion of the bill was sent to collections. When I called to understand why, I was informed that this specific date of service was billed separately and hadn t been placed on hold. Despite my previous communication, I received no information about these separate policies or that all dates of service wouldn t be held together. The billing team declined to retract the account from collections, citing it as hospital policy. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we ll be switching back to WVU despite the great care provided here. It's a shame to leave a place we trusted, especially when we re committed to settling all medical bills in full. This was our first time dealing with collections, and sadly, it will also be our last time with MMH.

Accepted Insurance

Marietta Memorial Hospital – Behavioral Health works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

As a medical professional I hate having to give a poor review on healthcare at any facility. I know how staffing is across the nation. However, I m very disappointed in the recent care my mother received. For the first two days my father was at home waiting for calls to update him. No one called. I was there in person and it was hard to get a straight answer the first day. The second day I had to reach out to nurse managers and care management to get any answers. Even after that we didn t get daily updates. At times she would use the call alarm for a nurse or aide and the alarm didn t work. When I was there I found it unplugged several times. I m not sure if was from moving equipment etc, but not safe at all for someone with limited mobility and with a door shut! Multiple extravasations/infiltrations and skin not marked to monitor areas. There are other things I could mention that need improvement, but I doubt if my voice matters. That being said, most of the staff we interacted with was nice. Just level of care across the board really needs improved!

My family had a horrible experience at this hospital with Dr. Kendra Smith. She is a hospitalist who has only been practicing medicine for a few months and is NOT board-certified, yet she thinks she is the most experienced and intelligent doctor on the planet. It s truly embarrassing how she practices medicine and how she treats grieving family members. I ve worked in healthcare for almost 15 years. Marietta Memorial, please do better.

Haven't messed up yet, it's a little packed sometimes but the staff is very accommodating. The only reason I am giving 4 stars is because I as a father often feel overlooked.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We apologize that you might feel overlooked as all patients and family members are valued. Thank you.

You know, I use to have a lot of respect for the hospital. I had my preliminary scans a week ago, a week ago!!! Normally I know same day. Still waiting. 7 days and still waiting! I was told they are 4000 scans behind. Do better! Maybe if things weren't outsourced to Riverside and we were still handling just our patients, things like this wouldn't happen. This causes extreme out of control anxiety!!! Think about your patients Mr. Cantley, instead of that almighty dollar that lines your pockets!!The nursing staff, ER staff, and the doctors are top of the line! None better. But to outsource to a hospital who already has more than they can handle and then WE suffer when care we may need immediately gets put off because someone thinks saving a buck by outsourcing is the solution???? It may be for your pockets Scott, but it's NOT for your patients!! DO BETTER CARING ABOUT US!!!!!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience. Please contact our service improvement coordinators and they would be happy to assist. They can be reached at 740.374.1541. We apologize for the misunderstanding, but the group that is part of our in house radiology team is not affiliated with another hospital. Their name is similar, so it is confusing. We have escalated this information to leadership to learn why there may be a delay.
