Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Clients enrolled in outpatient rehab typically need less intensive supervision and support than those in inpatient care. Clients may continue to work and attend school while participating in addiction counseling and recovery education during the evening, night, or weekend. Clients also often enter intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment immediately upon exiting residential care, which provides them with high-level step-down support as they reintegrate into their homes and communities.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab gives clients a chance to focus on their recovery in a highly structured and supportive environment away from outside distractions, stressors, and addiction triggers. Clients reside at the treatment facility and engage in intensive psychotherapy, which may include individual, group, and family counseling.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). The IOP at Longleaf is available for men and women over the age of 18. It is ideal for those who are stepping down from a more acute level of service. They typical duration is of 8-12 weeks.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients enrolled in rehab aftercare programs have completed high-level treatment and are typically in the maintenance phase of their recovery, receiving customized services designed to support their sustained sobriety. Case managers and care teams typically begin to plan for the client's rehab aftercare services early in the treatment process to ensure the client's fluid reentry into their home, workplace, and community. These programs evolve as clients' needs change, and frequently include peer coaching, relapse prevention, and career counseling.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don't require 24-hour care. The partial hospitalization program is available for teens and adults in need of mental and behavioral health treatment.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal. Detoxification at Longleaf Hospital is designed for men and women over the age of 18.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Initial phases of rehab treatment often require 24-hour clinical care in Louisiana. This supervised treatment offers three main benefits. Medical staff can provide medications to treat withdrawal. Clients can also benefit from having 24-hour nursing staff available to treat any other physical symptoms. Lastly, this setting ensures that professionals are constantly available to address any emotional or mental health issues related to the addiction or co-occurring disorders.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

When you participate in dialectical behavior therapy, you'll work on recognizing distorted thinking patterns that are guiding your emotions. You'll learn how to change these patterns to eliminate unproductive reactions. This involves developing better coping mechanisms to handle stressful situations.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

If you are struggling with motivation to change, motivational interviewing is designed to help. This method typically involves one or two sessions with a therapist. The technique helps you understand your motivations and empowers you to make changes to reach your goals.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Couples therapy focuses on helping the couple develop skills that will improve the relationship. These include communication, conflict resolution, and anger management. Couples also identify dysfunctional behaviors and work to eliminate them.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an effective therapy for treating trauma that helps your brain reprocess memories and restructure negative beliefs that are associated with traumatic events. This structured approach reduces symptoms and distress while promoting emotional healing and resilience.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

They treat you like it's your fault to be an addict. They should have a little more empathy because the only thing they will achieve is to move people away from their center.

This Google review is reposted from my Yelp review regarding my son s inpatient experience 1 year ago - PLEASE SEE THE Sept 9, 2024, NY TIMES EXPOS ON PATIENT TREATMENT IN SIMILAR ACADIA-OWNED FACILITIES IN VARIOUS STATES.I am not from Louisiana but my son was working in the area and needed help. I brought him here based on information on their website and based on a recommendation from a local family that had used Longleaf years and years ago; well times sure do change. I should have read the reviews. PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR LOVED ONE HERE, THEY WILL GET NO HELP. My son was treated poorly by hospital staff, over medicated and stuck in a barren room with only TV, given no "program" to assist during detox, was not appropriately clinically assessed, given contraindicated medication for his condition, and fed dinners consisting of 2 apples and a banana for dinner because he's a pescatarian. When he complained about the food and contacted me because he was extremely hungry, staff confronted him about asking me for help and doubled-down on the mistreatment. Clearly no one in the county or state is overseeing this facility. This is UNACCEPTABLE for a facility that advertises and gets compensated for treating people who need help.

My child was assaulted there by a patient that's was 1 on 1 meaning some one was supposed to be with in arms reach. This place should not exist and needs to be closed down .

If I could give zero stars I would. This facility is breaking several laws. They are not giving the patients rights to visitation outside of one set hour weekly. They have been notified multiple times of post cancer medication that my daughter needs and did not give it to her until I threatened to get an attorney involved. The Coroner Dr. Hunter issued a CEC to keep her up to 15 days without ever actually meeting her. He let the nurse practitioner issue the CEC. They are actively harming my daughter. The Nurse Practitioner Brandy Norse lied to my face multiple times. They are actively hurting my daughter. I m going to a lawyer. Just doing this in the mean time so people know to stay far far away. Jared Ferguson the CEO, Dr. Hunter the Coroner and NP Brandy Norse all need to be investigated for malpractice.

What a joke. I not only have graduated with my Masters in Counseling Psych, pts other Daughter is a LMSW. Not a single thing he told me about this place sounded like they are doing what they are supposed to. The techs are talking trash to the pts, the social workers have zero follow up, orders written incorrectly, etc. when you re working with a group of vulnerable individuals, you need to be in it for the right reasons. Please, get it together. Know that these people are there for a reason.

My wife was in here for 5 days told me that this place didn't have any trash bags used brown paper bags with towels underneath them to soak up moisture and the house keeping was terrible the health department needs to do a surprise inspection the AC was so cold they clean the rooms once a week if they get around to it staff doesn't confiscate lighters from the clients after each smoke break too many fights broke out 3 guys were beating one guy up, no security guards to help break up the fights every 4-8 hours a fight would break out . State inspectors need to come in and review the practice and even the DOD needs to come in a inspection

I was sent here twice for suicidal thought, really intrusive thought, and never once got the therepy I needed and had my medicine with held and not changed from what wasnt working. Each time was two weeks of hell, inedible food and nothing to do. One night a man came into my room and started kissing me and no one cared, no one was watching him or anyone.

I was in Longleaf for a week during August of 2023, and I'm 14. I'll be honest here, Longleaf is way better compared to certain mental hospitals. Either way, it could still improve on a WHOLE lot of things. A lot of the staff at Longleaf are very neglectful (Not all of them but most of them). When I was first admitted into Longleaf, I cried like any other person would. I was away from my family, locked in what I felt like was a prison, and I felt hopeless. I had just gone to my room and cried out while hiding under a blanket. There was a certain lady with red hair who comforted me while I was crying, and I really appreciated that. It goes to show how caring and thoughtful some of the staff can be with patients and their own job. On the OTHER hand, some of the staff can be pretty neglectful and horrible. I had switched the TV onto South Park since nobody else was around besides one other guy and I was getting bored. Apparently South Park is prohibited in the facility (Which I hadn't known of). Due to me turning on South Park, they decided to take the remote to the TV. They took the remote to the TV, and didn't even BOTHER change it off of South Park?? I perfectly understand the reasoning of why they took the remote, but the fact that they didn't change the South Park shows how much they really care. During your stay at Longleaf (Or any hospital for that matter), you'll most likely encounter a few people with mental disabilities that are just generally different from other people. Sometimes those people acted out, and fought with other patients. The staff would break up the fights, but they yelled out slurs (The r-word) at the patients. It was honestly really disgusting to see, and I felt really bad for the kid who was just being mentally battered by the staff. I also don't believe privacy is really too protected, especially among the patients. Now I won't rat out who it was, but one of the patients managed to read all of the information about all of the patients (Every patient is asked a series of questions just to obtain information about them). I had told the person who asked me questions that I was bisexual, and then one morning I heard from him that "someone was gay". It was most likely me he was referring to. I personally think that this was just a flaw among one of the staff members, but I believe privacy SHOULD be respected for every single patient. Another thing, but the hospital doesn't help you WHATSOEVER. The only way they do help you is by prescribing your medicine to take. You don't get any sort of therapy while in the hospital, and most of my days were spent just hanging around doing nothing (They do have activities like P.E, drawing, Bingo, etc... Though they only last one hour per day). I was also supposed to be getting a therapist after my stay at Longleaf, but they never gave me one and completely forgot about me. One last thing, but I believe on my 3rd or 4th night a huge fight broke out. During the fight, some girl tried to kill herself by hanging because she was being sent home the day after. When it was morning, I came to realize that the girl was still being sent home. This honestly disgusted me, especially since the parents are to blame for her suicidal thoughts and she nearly KILLED herself because of them. If you're looking towards putting your child in a mental hospital such as Longleaf, I suggest you look for other options. Giving your child a therapist can really benefit far more than a mental hospital if I'm being honest. Being put into a mental hospital can honestly be really traumatizing for a child depending on what hospital you put them into. Longleaf overall isn't an abusive environment, but it isn't a helpful one either. I was here for a week, and you can trust me on this. :D
