About Life Center of Galax

Life Center of Galax is a residential, outpatient, and detox facility in Galax, Virginia, that treats drug addiction and alcohol abuse. Assistance is given to individuals who are 18 years or older dealing with addiction and co-occurring mental health issues. Additional services that are available at this facility include relapse prevention and treatment, family therapy and day support. Clients who are unsure about seeking treatment can take their free online assessment to help with making a decision. Life Center of Galax accepts payment through various private insurance providers. They provide treatment to both men and women and offer gender specific group sessions.

One thing that I like about this facility is that it offers addiction treatment for a variety of drugs. Clients can receive help for addictions to heroin, marijuana, meth and other substances. They also provide assistance for those struggling with prescription drug addiction. Life Center of Galax features a qualified staff that includes board certified psychiatrists, licensed counselors and nurse practitioners. Most patients will start by undergoing their detox program with assistance from the 24 hour nursing staff. If medication assisted treatment is necessary for opiate addiction, patients may receive methadone, Vivitrol or buprenorphine. All of the medications are designed to alleviate withdrawal symptoms and drug cravings.

In the residential treatment program, clients receive assessments, testing and interviews to develop a treatment plan. The treatment plan is also adjusted throughout the time the client is there. Therapeutic treatments that clients may receive include reality therapy, experiential therapy and cognitive therapy.

In the outpatient drug rehab program, clients receive a less intense approach through day support that gives them the flexibility to leave the center after the completion of treatment for the day. Services in this program include group therapy and leisure activities.

The Life Center of Galax is one of the largest recovery centers in Virginia. Clinical staff are caring, compassionate, and are empathetic to our patients. Medical staff are knowledgeable and will truly advocate for patient care!!As a nurse of 20+ years and have worked in many different fields I feel I was called to be at this facility. It's not an easy program. It takes work and accountability. But in the end staff are working toward the same goal....patient centered care.

Accepted Insurance

Life Center of Galax works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

I didn t give it 5 stars, because no place is perfect; least of all any place bound by a Hippocratic oath, that is run by administrators whose jobs are to generate revenue. It s impossible that those two will always run parallel. That s literally all of American healthcare though. THAT being said, this place, and the everyday people who make it run, literally, saved my life, my sanity, and my soul. The people working there aren t members of the money tribe; they are kind, decent people who are underpaid, undervalued, and under appreciated, who everyday expected to do things, and perform miracles that NO amount of money can perform. Will there be chaos? Yes. Will there be people who are a distraction from it all? Yes. Will there also be a building full of people willing to be hit by bus if it meant bringing ONE person back to the world of hope and the living? In abundance all the way down the people sweeping the floors, and those in the kitchen. Will there be another place accessible to people without expensive private pay insurance or cash payees? Not in Virginia. Just like anything else in life, you will reap what you sow. I went three times, and complained about everything before I FINALLY took responsibility for MY OWN ACTIONS, and was willing to actually take the help they gave. You can go to the rehab Ritz Carlton, or go to an AA meeting in the projects, but you will only succeed if you ve made your mind up to do so. Nobody unwilling to help themselves, can be helped at all. I found the counselor, teacher, and at times, ass kicking enforcer in that building that I m convinced God took me there to meet. I spent 20 years lying, stealing, and underachieving, and 2+ years incarcerated (actually I was dropped off in shackles the last time, broken but ready to put myself back together.)After leaving there the last time I ve celebrated more than 5 years of sobriety, have built a career, and have the family of my dreams (not to mention to family of my birth my behavior had separated me from.) None of that seemed possible before, and truthfully, a short while afterwards. Everyone will tell you to do it for yourself, but most of us don t love ourselves enough. If not, do it for those that you do, until you can, knowing there are no shortcuts, and it can only happen through YOUR good, and hard works. None of this means you won t hear things you don t like, but that should make you happy. You re getting robbed if you re not.**if you leave your trash in the floor for the cleaning staff and Mrs. Jean to pick up, you re doing it wrong and I m going to come there and steal your tray.

Life Center of Galax is a great place to work and to seek substance abuse treatment. The staff go above and beyond to accommodate patient s needs as they begin to pave the road to sobriety, which is not an easy road to be on. Staff are dedicated everyday to make patient s lives better, so they are able to be the best version of themselves. I highly recommend Life Center of Galax to ANYONE wishing to seek substance abuse treatment!!

There is no better day than today, to start the rest to your life.If you are considering employment, know you are joining a team with many in recovery themselves that truly have a passion for this field.

I was struggling with drugs and was down on my luck. I called The Life of Galaxy and they came all the way to Portsmouth VA and pick me up and brought me to there facility and provided me with my medicine ,got me off of methadone and fentanyl and I am 90 days clean they my house to check on me to make sure I am on the right track and they offer me a job with benefits and a good 401k plan. The things that are being said about Galaxy is bullshit, I see people break the rules and they work with you before they giving chances. If want to get off drugs and get your life together Galaxy is the place.
