My stepmom was here at this hospital. The care was phenomenal in the ER the nurses were very nice per my dad and her. My stepmom got admitted to the 5th floor . We were brought up during what seemed to be shift change and it was so chaotic . It was almost an hour before they seen anyone. My dad would leave and I would come in to spend time with her because she gets anxious by herself. The staff is very nice. We were greeted with Ashley and Erica they were so nice and my stepmom had them for multiple days. She wanted to me to come on here and say Ashley made her feel comfortable and was patient with her through the times she had her. Answered every question throughly and her bright spirit brought her as much joy as she could get during an anxious hospital stay. Will the charge nurse that admitted her was funny and made her laugh and she appreciated that. We didn t have a problem at all with anyone until we met a nurse Marcia. She made my stepmom feel like her feelings weren t valid. We come to find out she is also rude to her coworkers. We would hear in the room or my dad was getting coffee one morning from the waiting room and seen how she talked to her colleagues . She rolled her eyes at my stepmom as well. We told the day nurse the next day we would not want her back. The day nurse said she wasn t back that night. She did nothing but make my stepmom feel more anxious especially not giving her any comfort or answering her questions. She made us feel like we were bothering her. Other than that everyone else was truly nice. We were there a total of 3 days. The doctors were really nice and we will be following up with the doctors we seen!

Accepted Insurance

Lakeview Hospital works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Clients enrolled in outpatient rehab typically need less intensive supervision and support than those in inpatient care. Clients may continue to work and attend school while participating in addiction counseling and recovery education during the evening, night, or weekend. Clients also often enter intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment immediately upon exiting residential care, which provides them with high-level step-down support as they reintegrate into their homes and communities.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Clients engaged in an intensive outpatient program (IOP) participate in multiple treatment sessions weekly. Typical treatment modalities include individual, group, and family counseling, addiction and recovery education, medication assisted treatment (MAT), and evidence-based holistic therapies. Most intensive outpatient rehabs require clients to engage in a minimum of nine and a maximum of 20 treatment hours per week. Many clients enter IOP after stepping down from intensive inpatient care, but some may enroll immediately after completing detox.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Collaboration between a professional treatment team and the family of an addicted loved one is an essential benefit of intervention services in Louisiana. Working together, they can develop the best strategies for a drug intervention. These experienced professionals know what protocols are most effective for interventions and provide expert insight that can improve the outcome of the intervention. An intervention specialist acts as a mediator during the intervention and a guide for next steps based on the outcome of the effort.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Mental health rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from mental illnesses like bipolar disorder, clinical depression, anxiety disorders, schizophrenia, and more. Mental health professionals at these facilities are trained to understand and treat mental health issues, both in individual and group settings.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

As we first me and my daughter first arrived at Lakeview it seemed like it was going to be okay until things started changing with the care of the doctors didn't tell me what they were giving my daughter heck I didn't even sign paperwork for them to do work on my daughter's heart it's only that and that being said doctors didn't show any empathy nor did they didn't tell the loved ones what she could have could not handle after heart surgery with no straining no muscle movement no movement at all but prior to her other health condition with her constipation they didn't even pay any more attention to that they just worked on her heart and overly medicated her I felt they didn't help me as a mother feel comfortable about our stay there and it was just the service was just like non-caring service I didn't know how to they didn't know how to talk to their loved ones or give me even the clarity that they were doing anything right my daughter died August 16th at Lakeview hospital at the age of 23 now no the doctors never showed any remorse of her loss while I was there for the unsuspected loss of my daughter already having a small heart I just don't know what to say to this hospital to make me feel any better

i got transferred to lakeview early (about 5am) tuesday morning. when i got there, my nurses (about 4 of em) came in got me situated and got all the information they needed for the doctor. about 5 minutes after they left the doctor came in. she was nice and tried to be comforting but if im being honest, i wont be returning. the nurses and techs here: ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!(with exception of 1 who was probably just having a bad day) but the actual doctors: i did not have any confidence in them. all of my information i had to get from nurses (from when my next med dose was and what they had me on up to the details of my surgery) when the doctors did come in they talked a mile a minute and would just walk out before you could ask any questions and nothing got answered. they also quite literally told me many times they had no idea why i have the problems i do , and then said they didn't want to waste money doing tests on me(overheard the doctor when she was in the room and thought i was asleep), they also dont seem to be up to date on laymans terms for medical conditions (another doctor told me it's impossible for me to have POTS(i'm on the cardiac floor cause of my preexisting condition which they also don't seem to know much about) because he said pots is tuberculosis ( yes i even tried explaining it but he just cut me off and rushed out of the room)) overall wasnt the worst hospital ive been to, they were decent. but i wouldn't go here unless i was actively dying and even then i might question it. doctors dont seem to be confident in diagnosing and wont do multiple tests to properly diagnose a patient, just wants to shove pills down someone's throat.i now have to find a different doctor just to get some answers.

My husband was seen at a Slidell ER. Dx: reflux. Pain came back. I knew we needed to get to the bottom of this so I took him to Covington Trace ER where I work. I knew they would dig to find out what was going on. They dx: gallbladder, which needed emergent surgery. Did not want to go back to Slidell so we got admitted to Lakeveiw Hospital. Neither one of us has had any experience there as a patient. We were a direct Admit to 3rd floor. Waited on surgeon. When I tell you the staff was phenomenal, they were! I don't remember all their names but Maria, Elizabeth, and Ashley were fantastic! The techs were pleasant doing their jobs. The room was cleaned and mopped on a daily basis, props to EVS! The physician staff were on point too. If you ever need a general surgeon, we recommend Dr Palmer. This will now be our hospital for surgical and ICU.
