inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in North Carolina offers structure and support to help individuals maintain sobriety. The home is free from substances and offers 12-step programs, individual responsibilities, and mutual support with others in recovery. This setting can provide a lifeline as individuals strengthen recovery skills and prepare to reenter mainstream society. Most residents remain in a men's or women's sober living home for six months or more.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often used as a "step-down" option after you've completed a residential or inpatient program, the partial hospitalization program (PHP) typically involves a minimum of 20 hours of treatment per week for approximately 90 days. Programs offer structured programming that includes relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services. Insurance coverage for PHP treatment varies among insurance providers.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

Individuals in early recovery often require 24-hour clinical care in North Carolina. This supervised care typically includes medications to treat specific withdrawal symptoms, which vary based on the substance abused. For example, staff may provide sleep aids to treat insomnia in patients who are addicted to marijuana. For those overcoming a cocaine use disorder, anti-depressants may be prescribed to manage mood swings. Other medications may also be provided to treat addiction-related health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

A medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive drugs and alcohol from your body. A team of licensed medical professionals will look after you 24/7 to monitor your health, help minimize discomfort, and provide medications if necessary to alleviate any withdrawal symptoms. This process is typically the first step in your recovery and may take around 5-7 days, although length will depend on your individual needs.

In my opinion many of the past negative comments are from former students who cannot take accountability for their own behavior! In my opinion these negative comments are from past students who are looking for their claim to Fame! And want to jump on the negative bandwagon!! On the contrary these schools heal and rebuild Families!! These schools set safe boundaries for the kiddos to grow, and succeed! Lake House Academy prepares families for the new challenges ahead and also provide support and guidance after graduation!!Without schools like Lake House Academy our kiddos could not thrive!!

1 star is too many. There will never be enough "meaningful change" to recover this school's reputation or credibility. This place ruins lives, not a single person I met there lives a normal life today and we are all severely traumatized by the horrific experiences there that were inflicted on us by "certified" mental health "professionals", many of whom I watched perform dangerous physical containments of girls as young as 9 with little to no proper training (yes, the kind of improper containments that have been killing kids in the troubled teen industry for generations). Not a single voice in the world, no matter how powerful or influential, could convince me that lake house will ever be anything but a gruesomely abusive environment that is not safe for children. No matter how much change is made they will never get far enough away from the torment the school is founded on and has thrived on for nearly 15 years. I'm an adult now; it's been nearly seven years since I left lake house academy and I have held out hope for each of those years that soon I would forget everything that happened to us there. But I didn't, and at this rate I don't expect I ever will.

I went to Lake House years ago. I now have PTSD from the treatment there. From the lack of care mentally and physically, to threats of not being allowed to contact or see my family, I pray that parents considering sending their children there reconsider. I am thankful everyday that my parents saw how bad the mistreatment was there and pulled me out.

Response from the owner8 months ago
Hi Isabel! Thanks so much for sharing your experience and leaving a review. We do not want any of the students we serve to feel that way. We currently ensure that family visits happen every 4-6 weeks as well as unmonitored social calls multiple times a week that is supplemental to virtual family therapy once a week. If you d like to learn more or talk to someone at the program, please reach out to admissions@lakehouseacademy.com. We d love to walk you through what our program is now to ensure quality care for all we serve!

My experience here wasn t necessarily just good or just bad. I can confidently say that lake house helped me heal but there were times when I felt like i was doing anything than healing. There were some staff there that really supported me and helped me through the process that I am so thankful for. But there were multiple staff who were not equipped at all for the job and made a massive negative impact on the enviorment. When we tried to talk about what was happening to higher ups and share how those staff made us feel, it was immediately brushed off. There was a staff that almost all of the kids made reports on, and we tried to advocate but absolutely nothing was done about it. But the other way around it s way different. Protocols are important there for kids who need them, but so many times I was placed on protocol for things that absolutely didn t need a protocol. I also got placed on closeness twice for something that in the end, I was able to prove I didn t do. I was in constantly stressed that I was going to lose my hard earned privileges, because the smallest little things will put you on protocols. A lot of the time I don t have a say in anything that was happening to me. The higher ups always believed the RCs instead of the kids because apparently we wernt stable enough to know how we feel and what we need. I will say that I love the adventure program and the activities that we did. I also am so greatful for all the chefs who worked there. There were times were lake house felt like a home to me. And I admit that i miss being there a lot of the time. But I know the program is changing. I don t think what LHA is turning into is something I d want to go back to. Evryones experience is also different so I can only speak for myself

I am more traumatized now than I would ve been had I not gone to LHA. If you are thinking of sending your daughter here I promise you the pain she will experience at LHA is way worse than what s going on at home. I want to see all of these schools shut down. They put kids on too high doses of medication, restrain them, starve them and overall just treat them horribly. I was a student in 2012-2013 and I am just now truly facing what I went thru during my time at LHA. Please please please don t send your daughter here. Her mental health for the rest of her life depends on it.

Lakehouse has done wonders for my daughter and family! The staff--therapists, residential, nurse, administrators--are, to a person, professional, compassionate, kind, knowledgeable. They have provided our daughter with a safe, consistent environment to work on her behavioral issues and shown us how to support her. She's not quite finished but will be soon. We're very grateful--thank you to the LHA team!

I am forever greatful to lake house. i made lasting friendships and i miss the staff. the staff were extremely supportive and helped me in every way they could. thank you liz, nadia, deana, anna, daliyah, and hope to making my stay truly special and always listening to me talk about my life and goals and things i ve been through.i was at lake house from february 2022- january 2023 and i would recommend it to any girl struggling with non-durastic problems, especially family relations. it will be hard to get used to, as there is a routine schedule, but it s worth it. when i left they had remodeled all of the bedrooms and started on a kitchen. under mckenzie hall she is extremely improving lake house. barely anyone is contained now and it s only when it s extremely needed. we went on fun outings like pottery or ice cream or apple orchards which was always really fun! it was nice to get out of the school and get back to normal life for a bit. the scene is nice outside and the lake is pretty. lake house formed me into the good person i am today and helped me create a strong relationship with my mom.thank you so much to everyone at lake house for the work you do and for improving my life and every persons there. i appreciate your effort and as i said, i am forever greatful! miss you guys and hope you are all doing well!
