My experience at hope by the sea was great. I went in to do 30 days. The detox was ok. It was not a house but that s ok. It was a duplex. It had a side for girls and a side for boys . I had 1 roommate. The staff was very nice and welcoming, the only issue was that there was limited food besides the lunch and dinner that they bring which is only Monday through Friday. They do not serve food on weekendsbut they had little things in the kitchen but definitely could have been a little more but it s tolerable. I m vegetarian and they did provide me vegetarian meals. The meals aren t fantastic but they were good enough and sometimes I actually really did like them. I went into residential after detoxing and the house was really nice. It had some things that needed to be fixed but nothing major. All the workers seem to really care and would give good advice. Catherine, Dylan,Alexander, were my favorite workers for sure! Miss you guys already and my sober family They take us to aa meetings 1-2 times a week and would take us shopping Saturdays. We would do group counseling Monday through Saturday from 9-4 . Saturdays from 9-12. Mondays and Wednesdays you had the option of regular group or pastor Pete which was a Christian group. He explains the word of good in ways you can understand. Sundays you can either go to church or the gym. Overall I definitely would recommend this place. I did see other reviews were saying they don t let you take your prescription meds and I did see that with a friend there. So be sure to ask about that before coming. I made sure to ask a lot of questions.

I came from Oklahoma as many know one of the worst spots to be in. Taryn was able to help me get a plane ticket setup the next week had a driver waiting for me (9/2/2024) and still to this day still in the program and absolutely loving it. If you apply yourself, it works. I'm not a paid actor. I'm a former addict that F***ED up a lot using. I was even able to step away from cigarettes. But if you come in with an attitude, everyone should bow down to you. You're not going to get far. This is by far the best program I have ever seen. Not to mention the most beautiful detox facility. It's going to suck at first, but come in with an open mind. Other options aren't working obviously. Otherwise, you wouldn't be reading this. Thank you, Hope, by the sea and most of all... Thank you, Taryn. You saved a life hats off to you!

Accepted Insurance

Hope By The Sea works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. The detox treatment at Hope by the Sea offers a beginning to heal the mind, body and spirit.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. The OP is idea for those individuals who do not have a risk of relapse.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. The residential program is able for men and women. They integrate a balance of individual and group therapy sessions, 12-step meetings, social activities and more. They offer a Christian Rehab, a Non 12-step rehab, a gender specific rehab and a college track.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Hope by the Sea offers a safe and drug free sober living house in order to allow freedom and structure to co-exist. 12-step meetings and therapeutic activities are also encourage, residents at the house are able to attend school, work and other outside meetings.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention Services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need. Hope by the Sea offers a traditional intervention and a Christian intervention.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

This place is a joke! They promise you the world. They don t have no hospital like setting detox. There is no chef on site. They have houses around town where they keep you captive. The detox period is just long enough to cover your out of pocket costs. Tarant is the biggest fake. She ruined my dad s chance at ever getting help from a rehab facility. I strongly suggest shopping around. This place is a fraud out to make money and care nothing about people s well being.

This program provided me with a therapist and case manager, a free AA book and journal. You get to have your phone for about 4 hours a day after completion of detox. Food was good they have cod and bbq chicken leg quarters. AMAZING gym. They take you to AA meetings 3 times a week.

I was told so many wonderful things about this place, such a lie. I was told I'd be in a house, and only sharing my room with one other person. Not the case, it's a ghetto apartment and 3 people per room. I stayed until 11pm desperately wanting to sleep but couldn't because the tv was so loud. I didn't see any structure at all and one member of staff definitely has no buisness in recovery. I was also told I'd be able to eat dinner and was provided cup of noodles. Please don't go or recommend anyone to go here unless you hate them. I got a night detoxing on the bench at the train station .

I just had the most incredible experience at FBTS!!!! I came here for their 30 Day Rehab Program. The location is incredible. The Staff were wonderful, the facility was exactly what I was hoping it would be. Welcoming, Comfortable, lots of open spaces to roam. 5 acres of beautiful property to walk around. Nothing but sounds of the ocean and birds. The nights were quiet and peaceful ( very comfortable beds!!). The curriculum is very diverse which made the classes different every day and always engaging. The pickleball court was an amazing bonus. I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND coming here if you are looking for the most gratifying recovery of your life!!!

They claim to be a dual diagnosis program but they were unable and unwilling to diagnosis or treat my daughters illnesses and infact pushed her out after 14 days under false pretenses. They weren't even willing to discuss extending her time and was just rude, unprofessional and not Christ-like at all in the end! Extremely disappointed.

I was at rock bottom and was going through combat trauma from multiple deployments. I found a veteran friendly facility and spoke with Wendy who went above and beyond for me and communicated well and made sure I was able to get admitted. After 40 days I just left yesterday and my skin color my weight and most importantly my mental health is night and day different as I was able to just get everything out of my system. The food we got was great but in the houses we could cook our own stuff and our house was great at cooking wonderful meals. I have to give a shout out to two of the house managers that went out of there way to be there and either cook or just help out mentally and that is for Simon and Michael. The therapy was great too and with that I would always look forward to Renee and Rocky s groups. In terms of housing, our house was really nice with a pool and jacuzzi and a basketball court and the rooms were nice. The house manager for all 11 houses her name is Brooke and she went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met no matter the time. My only feedback that I would suggest is when you get a case manager, make sure that you really connect with them and don t hesitate to ask to switch if you need too. Upon discharging, Wendy followed up and so did Dale and that was great and made me feel good. All in all, this place saved my life and I miss being there but my time there really helped me get sober and the tools to maintain that sobriety

Overall great place to have your loved one s or yourself take a break and focus on reality the drivers are all very friendly likeable and kind the case management is intense yet necessary because the disease of addiction needs to be met with the same effect I can agree with anyone who suffers from alcoholism or drug addiction when I say hope is what I need when I am hopeless.
