Please take the time to read this if you are considering coming here for treatment. If you re struggling with SEVERE addiction MAYBE this will help you. You will be able to detox here and can leave if you see fit. I was not coming here because of addiction so I can say from my experience it was a wash. The structure of this company is TERRIBLE. They will keep you here as long as your insurance will allow it. Most clients don t make it past 3 weeks because it costs about $1,000 a day for the Adult facility. They do not hire people with experience. Most of my therapy was lead by one person, all groups, all responsibility on them. The other therapist Daniel, lead one group but spent most of his time in his office. Growth Extended s psychiatrist is in my opinion, the only real benefit from coming here. The house lead management has no formal psych background. I was video taped for an interview upon graduation that I DID NOT AGREE TO. Getting my basic medication (birth control) took WEEKS. The therapy material is constantly reused. They search things online then print them out and read them. By two months we were going over old material up until I graduated. They gave me referrals to PA my home state..... I live here. In California. I am writing this review now because my medication, that I am to take every single day, needs a rewritten perscrption from Dr Jordan and I have been unable to get ahold of ANYONE at this facility. Not one single person. This company is money hungry, manipulative, and not at all truly beneficial. Go to a therapist on your own time. You will receive the same if not better results. Some staff were also so unbelievably disrespectful that I almost left, and felt very unsafe staying there. If you have any wits about you don t come here. It s just as disappointing and stereotypical as the rep that rehabilitation often gets. It s really sad actually.

I went to this facility for 89 days and although I was not "CURED" of my addiction nor did I learn much from the program at all but I must say Karen program manager at the LA facility, Jonathan program manager for all of the locations, and Viki a nurse at the LA facility were great people that I'm thankful I met. They are very dedicated to there job and always willing to listen and help you with any problem you face.

Thank you so much for helping me and my family. This program honestly works miracles. I never would have thought I wanted to quit drugs but this experience helped me see what I want for the rest of my life. You ve given me a second chance and the opportunity to live a good sober happy life I could only dream of. My family and I are better than ever and thank you for giving me these things that will be with me forever.

Accepted Insurance

Growth Extended – Lake Balboa works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.
