inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

At Great Oaks, they offer a team of professionals that will provide each client with an in-depth assessment to ensure those at risk for physical withdrawal are managed safely and curatively. The detoxification phase allows clients to safely withdraw from alcohol and/or other substances in a medically-supervised and therapeutic environment, facilitating the process to be as expedient and comfortable as possible. Withdrawal refers to the physical problems and emotions experienced whenever an individual who has become dependent on a substance either drastically reduces the amount of said substance or stops suddenly. The physical and emotional symptoms of withdrawal are caused by decreased amounts of alcohol or drugs in the bloodstream or tissues in an individual who has grown accustomed to prolonged and/or heavy use. Their medical team will use their expertise to assess the individual risk factors of withdrawal, then create and implement a client-specific program plan.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation. Their family program also helps every member understand the importance of getting help for themselves.

life-skills iconLife Skills

The right life skills training will help you build the skills you need for recovery. You'll learn how to solve problems, improve your social life, enhance your mental health, and make good decisions. This is a key component of drug rehab programs in Texas.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

When used as recommended, nicotine replacement therapy in Texas provides enough nicotine to help you avoid severe cravings and withdrawal symptoms after quitting smoking. This increases comfort so you're less likely to relapse into your smoking habit.

I ll be honest. This place is very, very beautiful from the outside. The grounds are well kept and there are plenty of amenities outdoors.DO NOT TRUST THE PICTURES ONLINE. THEY ARE OLD AND/OR STAGED!!!The inside is very different. The amount of mold I found from the bathroom areas to the mattresses (yes mattresses) was alarming. The male and female houses are well kept but if you re there for detox then do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The Med Staff is incredibly rude, the Detox rooms are 3rd world, and the night crew only cares to make sure you re breathing. Not how you re doing. The food is about as good as you d get in the military, at best (not a compliment), the intake process was next to nil, and the group sessions seemed to have been written by a 10 year old. Even the check out process was shoved off to someone else because no one wanted to step up and go above and beyond for their job.It was overall a terrible/horrible experience. I only give it 2 stars due to Patrick, Catie, and Jody.

Hey yall I had made a previous review and post on this place. The issues I had posted about were able to get resolved. I am editing this post to reflect that. I will still say though that this is not a PTSD treatment facility. Atleast when I was there. This is a good place for addiction with a place that help support ptsd members. There is more freedom here than most places I've been too. The staff is pretty friendly and are willing to work with you and work out whatever is going on. I think it's a beautiful grounds and facility. I give it a 3 star review because it is not a PTSD treatment facility. Which anyone that has experienced PTSD knows how serious that is.

I must say when I 1st arrived at Great Oaks there was a special kind of peace around me. Nothing like what I would have imagined rehab to be. We even had a resident fur baby. They allow people to have their Emotional Support Animals, keep us busy with classes filled with valuable information. Everyone from the case managers, Counselors, techs and kitchen staff treat you with care. You often will hear staffs roaring laughter, as they demonstrate what being clean and sober can be like. As time wore on there, I could see why many who had not had success before, finally found it here! There's a great Alumni app, meetings, and events, backed with people who have been where you, your friend or loved one are now. That will be there as long as you reach out and participate.I would recommend Great Oaks to anyone who'll listen... and I miss the Campfire, beautiful trees, porch swings... and a nice pool I didnt get to go in bc it was winter. LOL
