About Gateway Rehabilitation Center – Main Campus

Gateway Rehabilitation Center – Main Campus is a drug and alcohol rehab facility located in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania. They are an inpatient and outpatient facility that treats people with substance use disorder and alcohol use disorder.

They provide a full medical and psychological assessment to determine the level of care that you need. A clinician will ask you questions about the substances you use and the frequency with which you use them.

They offer detox services to people who have a certain level of substances in their system. The staff is there 24 hours a day, and they are fully medically trained. Detoxing from drugs is often very uncomfortable and may cause nausea and muscle cramping. The staff can provide you with medication assisted treatment to ease the pain of detoxification.

Inpatient clients will attend a full day of therapy. This will include both group and individual sessions. They treat people with behavioral therapy, which encourages individuals to think differently in order to change their behavior. They provide trauma informed care to people who started using drugs or alcohol because of a traumatic experience.

The best thing about this place is all of the amenities and extras that they offer. You will stay in a comfortable room and get three healthy meals a day. You will enjoy art and music therapy. You can even participate in adventure based therapy with the other residents.

Gateway offers outpatient treatment as well. You may need to come in several times a week or just once or twice a week. The staff can also refer you to resources such as sober living homes and vocational training centers.

I would have given this place a much higher rating but they have nurses who refuse to give comfort meds when they are needed most and I have heard they lost Angel . Idk if she quit or what happened but she was the person when detoxing that actually cared about the patient.so many others there felt like they didn t care and their only job was to keep us for our insurance money and not actually help us. Without angel in detox I don t believe I would go back.

Here s a draft for your review of Gateway Rehab Center in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania:I recently stayed at Gateway Rehab Center in Aliquippa for detox, and I want to share my experience. First off, the staff in the detox unit was amazing. They were incredibly supportive, professional, and attentive, which made the detox process as comfortable as possible. The rooms were a pleasant surprise too each one had a TV and its own bathroom with a shower, which made a big difference in my comfort level during this tough time. That said, the food was a major downside. Unfortunately, I found it almost impossible to eat anything without throwing it up. The quality and taste were just not there, which was disappointing considering the importance of proper nutrition during detox.I don t have any experience with their inpatient 28-day program, so I can t speak to that, but based on the detox floor, it s clear the staff is dedicated to helping people through the early stages of recovery. If they could improve the food situation, this would have been a much better overall experience.

Best place to seek treatment arguably. Although my findings there pertain to the shortage of sober staff. Most staff are in recovery creating a rift that's uncomprehensible to anyone other than the sober for life team. Found staff to always be a leg behind the clients for some reason so if you want to work your own program it does work. Recovery is a one man job. The Yoga teacher rocks too. Shout out to Carol!!!

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements. Their intensive inpatient program focuses on early recovery and self-awareness skills to not only overcome drug and alcohol dependency but to give patients a new sense of direction and purpose. Gateway Rehab offers residential inpatient drug and alcohol treatment for both male and female patients.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one’s body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Pennsylvania is devoted to the treatment of addiction. Levels of care, treatment methods, and settings differ, but the aim of each program is to end drug dependency and empower participants to achieve long-term recovery.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Substance use disorder is a family disease. When someone has a problem with substance use, it affects everyone in the family. At Gateway Rehab, they encourage the family to be part of their loved one’s addiction treatment and recovery process. Programming for family and loved ones will encourage them to discuss the impact that addiction has on their life and on others associated with their loved one. They also assist with finding support groups such as Al-anon and Nar-anon where you will learn to take care of themselves and be a vital part of the recovery process. Recovery for the patient is enhanced greatly by a healthy family.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Im extremely disappointed in the staff at this Gateway Recovery location, staff member Malissa in particularly. On the date of 4/28/24 she treated myself and loved one with complete disrespect. She was speaking with a current client there about very personal matters regarding other current clients which in a HIPPA violation. She deserves to be held accountable for her actions. So unprofessional, degrading and embarrassing on Gateways behalf. The client this is regarding is in the long term R.E.S.T program requiring the individuals to be held to a much higher standard, those requirements should apply to the staff as well. Do better.

The staff was welcoming and kind. Any needs I had were met. Clean environment and housekeeping was always nearby. I also met some of the nicest patients I'd come across in some time. My overall stay was as good as it could be and I would recommend Gateway rehab in Aliquippa to anyone who is struggling with addiction.

Gateway Rehab is an amazing facility to work with! They always show their support for local community members by being actively involved in public events, trainings, meetings and gatherings - not to mention the nonjudgmental and welcoming attitude each staff person brings. Gateway is one of the few providers I actually look forward to communicating with because they truly care for the wellbeing of their patients and are open-minded when implementing new ideas to help those with addiction and behavioral health needs get connected to recovery treatment options best suited for their success.

GATEWAY OFFERS TO PAY TO HAVE NEGATIVE REVIEWS TAKEN DOWN.Here s a real one! There s such a staff shortage that if you have an emergency (like the seizure I saw someone have) you ll most likely be dead by the time help arrives. There s such a staff shortage that they ask the patients to run their own sessions. Every day in inpatient there were multiple instances of me searching MULTIPLE floors unable to find staff at all. My first night a screaming match broke out that, if not for the intervention of other patients, would ve turned into an actual brawl. An hour later when a staff member finally was available she had no idea anything even happened. A woman could very easily have picked up a chair, cracked the other one s skull open, and she d been LONG cold by then. Rule breaking runs rampant with no one to supervise. You will get NO individualized care. I was given orientation for inpatient 4 days after I had been there. Disorganization rules. If you re lucky enough to FIND staff, you can ask 3 of them the same question and get 3 different answers. People who WANT help, who NEED help, are walking out in droves, not because they finished the program, not because they want to use, but because they re tired of gateway s version of recovery being watching movies, coloring pictures, and reciting the same 3 prayers 3 times a day. These people are leaving specifically because they ve been so dehumanized and saddened and angry with the experience. And you know what? Some of them are going to die, some likely really quickly, because they got no professional help. No one made them feel seen, heard, or even got back to them to answer a question.Sickness is currently running wild there, no one is getting tested for *anything*, they re just handing out mucinex. AND they wouldn t give us face masks. They re out. (How does a healthcare facility run out?!?!) I left after I asked for antibiotics for a MRSA infection (I m a carrier unfortunately, and I ve been dealing with MRSA for over a decade with a long history of outbreaks and multiple hospitalizations for it) 4 days in a row, multiple times a day. I warned them on Friday that I had about 4 days til the skin broke, and then my open wound would be highly contagious. They kept pushing me off, pushing me off, promising me something would happen on Monday. Finally at 9pm Monday night I m told the doctor denied my rx. She never even saw me and by the time I got that info she was gone. So now my health and every single person in that building s health is in jeopardy because anything spreads like the plague in an institutionalized setting. The only option for me to get medication now they say would be to go to the ER. ..so I did. I had to go to the emergency room and take time away from people who legitimately needed care to get an antibiotic rx. A staff member puts me in his personal vehicle and when we get to the ER doors he hands me an envelope with my insurance info printed and a list of my meds and says, exactly, here ya go. And even after this, and this is all barely scratching the surface, I plan on returning so that I can finish my program, staff or no staff be damned. When I come out, with the very rx I was asking days for, the staff member s not in the waiting room.He s not in the parking lot either I walked through both of them.He left me; no phone, no wallet, nothing. Not knowing what on earth to do, crying, I ask for a phone and call my fianc to pick me up, and take me back to get my things. Belatedly I learn I was to have the hospital call them to come back but nobody told me that. I felt, yet again, abandoned, unsupported, dehumanized,They will take unopened items and not allow you to have them (ex. pens), and then bring you to their store where you must purchase the same items, literally profiting of addicts. MOST of your day will be downtime, where you will be stuck inside (or at best under a small pavilion 25 feet from the building). Boredom is a huge trigger for a lot of addicts. GO ELSEWHERE. Gateway is going to kill as many as it saves.

This place was necessary for what I needed at the time, but to be honest a bunch of shady stuff happened when I was there with peoples medication. ATLEAST THREE people medication went mysteriously missing and they had to go without their medication for days which was extremely traumatic. They even handed me another patients medication to take one day. The floor I stayed on was full of girls just fighting the entire time. Not only verbally but physically as well. A girl who stayed on my floor was physically assaulted leaving an elevator by another girl that she told staff ahead of time would be an issue. Last but not least, I told them the first day in detox I wanted a vivitrol shot upon my discharge and was not informed until one day before I was leaving they were not going to give me one because of issues with insurance, which had been an issue apparently for weeks I was there. If I had been properly informed, I would have called the insurance myself and worked it out. Also, once I went to IOP after inpatient that program was a joke and I decided it wasn t for me and they are now not giving me my vivitrol shot. Long story short I recommend you find somewhere else to get help.
