About FMRS Health Systems

Teens and adults can find the help they desperately need at the FMRS Health Systems in Beckley, West Virginia. This comprehensive mental health center offers substance abuse addiction treatment services. The goal when you attend this rehab is to identify and address your addiction and mental health concerns early on before they evolve into bigger problems.

They offer detox services, a residential treatment program, medication assisted treatment, outpatient treatment, intensive outpatient programs and a DUI program. The residential program is designed for men and offers comprehensive, multifaceted treatment. The average length of stay is 120 days. Part of this program is withdrawal management which is available to both men and women. This short term program aims to help you stabilize.

The center also offers outpatient programs. These can be helpful if you want to overcome addiction and manage mental health concerns in a setting that doesn’t require overnight stays. Not everyone feels they fit in residential treatment, and others want to step down into a less structured recovery environment. Outpatient treatment helps with this. You’ll engage in individual and group counseling, and the therapy will be tailored to your needs.

What is unique about the center is its DUI program. This program offers classes to help educate people on the dangers of driving under the influence. Many appreciate that the program helps people navigate the court system and provide support and treatment.
Other patients found the medication assisted treatment to be the most beneficial. This treatment combines counseling with FDA approved medication to help you manage withdrawal symptoms and cravings.

This center doesn’t deny treatment based on finances. This has made the facility a safe haven for many who are experiencing homelessness and have no means to pay for treatment.

Accepted Insurance

FMRS Health Systems works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed as an intensive form of outpatient, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) allows clients to receive treatment at a rehab facility while continuing to live at home. PHP treatment typically offers daily 6-8 hour meetings, 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. Commuting is typically required, however, some PHP treatments can take place via telehealth. PHP treatment may be fully or partially covered by providers. Depending on your needs, typical PHP treatment can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug addiction causes psychological and physical damage through repeated and uncontrollable use of substances. Drug rehab in West Virginia focuses on providing a full continuum of care, from detox to aftercare, and treatment can take place in outpatient or inpatient settings, based on your needs.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
hearing-impaired-program thumbnail image
Hearing Impaired Program
A sensory disability, such as hearing impairment, can compound the challenges of addiction recovery. Drug rehabs that are specially designed to accommodate the needs of persons with hearing impairments will include special accessibility features and accommodations to make treatment as comfortable and effective as possible. This may include access to American Sign Language interpreters.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.

Clinical Services

Through cognitive behavioral therapy in West Virginia, therapists encourage clients to identify negative thoughts, gain control over them, and develop ways to change their behaviors. This can be an effective way to break the cycle of addiction and overcome substance use disorder.

The core philosophies of dialectical behavior therapy in West Virginia are that everything is interconnected, change is inevitable, and you can integrate opposites to reach the truth. Treatment focuses on acceptance and change. You'll learn how emotions and behaviors are connected, accept your feelings, and learn how to change patterns of emotion and behavior.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

People in West Virginia seeking drug and alcohol addiction treatment usually undergo one on one individual therapy. This gives you a safe and supportive environment to explore issues with substance use and any co occurring mental health conditions. Your therapist offers individualized support to help you build resilience and work toward achieving long term sobriety.

Motivational interviewing in West Virginia is often used when the client's desire to change is low, their confidence is low, or they are struggling with mixed feelings about change. This technique allows them to explore the change process and feel empowered to move forward.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Nicotine replacement therapy is available in prescription and over the counter formats. Gum, lozenges, and patches are the most common therapies. The FDA has also approved two medications, bupropion and varenicline, to curb cravings and withdrawal symptoms.

Accreditations

State Licenses are permits issued by government agencies that allow rehab organizations to conduct business legally within a certain geographical area. Typically, the kind of program a rehab facility offers, along with its physical location, determines which licenses are required to operate legally.

Massive amounts of red tape for bottom of the barrel care. They don't care if you're hallucinating and depressed. They're a joke. And make sure you're not an adult with ADHD because they WON'T treat it effectively. Maybe that's why I missed some appointments?I've been a patient since last November and have not had a single one on one therapy session during that time despite asking. The med sessions are literally 5 minutes long.If you get through your med appointment, beware because multiple providers forget to send your meds into the pharmacy multiple times (Scotty Rose and Ashlee Thomas). THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT YOU.

One star due to new Procedures for appointments. i think its ridiculous that my doctor tells me to come back in two months but i am not allowed to make an appointment with him until 2 months has passedAdding a Reply for FMRS. Your new system is trash, you response is trash. I work fulltime, go to school full time, i had a family, i also have many medical issues which requires me to see many doctors so the days i can have appts is premediated and inflexable and when i call i guarentee you will be unable to accomedate me and i doubt i am the only one like this so again you new system is trash and thank google for not allowing no star reviews becuase thats the only reason i gave you one star

As a patient at this place I do NOT recommend you to send your children here. The day staff pick favorites and treat the others poorly. The only staff I ever felt safe with was Ashly and Dave. Melinda practically made fun of my weight and laughed when another patient made a comment on my body, they act as if there re helping but only add onto the insecurity, depression, and other mental health issues. I ve been here four times now and each and every time just got worse although I do take responsibility in not taking medication properly. Melinda, if you re reading this, I wish you nothing but what you deserve you broke my spirit and that is nothing that I can regain anymore and I hope you re happy with yourself.

I would give it -5 star if I could. I tried my wife for treatment, and they literally hung up on me. Like attitude and all, like I was a burden on them for trying to get my wife into a detox program. Rude and unprofessional are the nicest words I can say, it's definitely an insurance farm where they number the patients like cattle and just huff em through until the state insurance pays them

None of the ppl working here are professional. They are rude and seriously need to work on their time management skills. I would zero stars if I could. This place is ridiculous anymore. The front desk staff does NOT understand that I have seizures and I am NOT allowed to drive for 6 months. It s policy for the patients to start coming back in the office to see the doctor s. As for professionalism the front desk does NOT know what professionalism is at all! I will be filing a grievance against the front desk!
