Medical briefcase icon Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs ensure clients receive a complete continuum of care after completing high-level treatment in a detox center or inpatient rehab. Clients typically partner with their case manager and care team to outline their specific recovery needs and goals. Rehab aftercare services are often highly customized and designed to evolve as clients progress in their recovery. Standard services include outpatient treatment and peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction following outpatient care.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

When loved ones stage a drug intervention in Nebraska, the goal is not to gang up on the individual and make them feel attacked. The aim is to make them feel cared for and to present a solid plan for getting them the treatment they need. This process often includes intervention services. These professionals can provide support for planning and carrying out the intervention and guidance for appropriate treatment for the individual and family members.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During drug rehab in Nebraska, you'll participate in therapies that address the many issues that contribute to addiction. Treatment includes physical, mental, emotional, and relational aspects. These methods provide the tools you need to achieve long-term recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Often used to address addiction in Nebraska, motivational interviewing helps you become motivated to change. Research shows this method is effective for clients who are unprepared for change or feel unmotivated to change.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills training helps you make good decisions, communicate effectively, and lead a balanced lifestyle. They range from self management to interpersonal skills. Because these are crucial for recovery, life skills training is an integral part of rehab programs in Nebraska.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

For anyone looking for a treatment center for drugs and alcohol, I would not recommend this place. The people who lead the group sessions and therapies are not qualified people, I can assure you that 95% of the patients have relapsed. Another thing that bothers me about this ... Read More

The hypocrisy this facility is based on is absolutely disgusting. I had the misfortune of attending a 3 hour group with Lois once, she starts out trying to jam religion down your throat, and wraps up the session sitting around with the group watching loony tunes cartoons....which ironically turns out to be a pretty accurate representation of her as a person....and then there is Duol Rut.....the extortion game he plays with people is certainly immoral, and most likely illegal. If you dare try to enter his group without pockets full of nice green cash you will promptly be escorted from the building, and while doing so, he will inform you that you are being charged full price for the 3 hour session you wernt even allowed to attend. However, if you show up driving a BMW equipped with an ignition interlock because of your 3rd, 4th, 10th, 15th drunk driving charge, and have nice deep pockets, Duol will welcome you with open arms. and dont believe the lie about it being a 6 week program...as long as your cash stays green, and heaven forbid you have insurance willing to pay them...you will be kept there for 10, 20 or even 30 weeks......PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE

Openly admitted myself on my accord, thinking I could leave any time if I didn't like it. Was skeptical at first about addiction counselling, but after two sessions, I learned more about myself than I possibly could with any other counselors I've seen in the past. The staff is courteous, respectful, caring, and most of all, passionate. If you want to get help, and get better, this place is where it's at.

Five times I have asked them to send in character references or at the very least completion letters of the program I went through. They just want your money and will pretend they are caring... but actions go further. If you are looking for a treatment center that will help you in your case do not go here.If you are looking for a treatment center that will help you with your addiction... also don't go here as a counselor has admitted that 95 percent of her patients "relapse."They show favoritism towards patients who are completely lost and will disregard any problems that you may have that they could actually help with.My individual sessions I can't complain... however group sessions with Lois are counter productive as her main goal seems to be favor females and disregard any true logic that can be displayed.I've never been part of a business that is so manipulative and down right lies. Im heading there now to grab my contract from them and have a lawyer review any breaches they have done.

I have worked in the field of dual diagnosis for many years. I find the staff at First Step to be professional and very helpful. I have referred many clients to them. They have been honest about their abilities to meet the needs of my clients. They have also assisted in finding the proper services for clients that did not fit into their programs or would benefit from other services. This is refreshing in a field that at times does not always have the clients best interest in mind. Some agencies just take clients for the money. Thank you First Step for serving this community that is in need of more agencies like you!

Lied to me about my remaining balance and told I owed nothing to find out I was lied to and had a couple hundred to pay and denied to schedule and appointment based on what I owed. Also the director is willing to tell you anything to make you happy even if it's a lie. They are after your money, and not to help you. Also if you tell them you want specific meds or drugs they willl prescribe them to get you to come back with required monthly visits even though 3 months is the right length of time they can do. They want your co-pay money.
