About Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County,Inc

Drug Abuse Foundation, located in Delray Beach, Florida, offers alcohol and drug rehab services to men and women seeking recovery through a residential level of care. They also provide partial hospitalization treatment and traditional outpatient services.

The residential program provides stabilization and clinical interventions, along with craving management, relapse prevention, skill building, and recovery tool education. This program emphasizes a community-based philosophy that believes in the importance of positive relationships with peers. Medication management may also be utilized if necessary. The residential program provides a relapse track for individuals who have recently relapsed. This program emphasizes working through what caused the relapse while utilizing peers to elevate a person back into a healthy state of mind.

Partial hospitalization treatment generally meets up to 30 hours each week as an outpatient treatment program. Upon completion of the residential program, individuals may choose to step down into this highly structured outpatient option. Ongoing counseling, support groups, and continuing education are available. Once an individual completes this face of treatment, they may choose to step down into a traditional outpatient program that allows for greater flexibility and less time spent in treatment each month.

Drug Abuse Foundation accepts most insurance plans, including Brightstar Health, United Healthcare, Cigna, and more. Out-of-network benefits may vary, so it is important to verify coverage with the provider.

Its been some years since I went through DAF's 60 day residential treatment program. I have to say that I am horrified by some of the reviews written on this website. By some of the descriptions I'm sure that some of their policies have changed, especially with court ordered people. Having a colorful background myself I can understand some of the policies listed in the complaints could be very true. When you are looking at jail time or court ordered treatment, the treatment time would really sound like a walk in the park. I have spent time in jail once and know that what isn't nailed down will disappear or will be fashioned into something else. Let me be clear, jail is not a walk in the park, its serious and dangerous because the people there are dangerous, that's why they are there. So as far as DAF is concerned, they are dealing with some dangerous people, not all from court ordered. You also have to remember why your there in the first place and what kind of havoc you have created in not only your own life but in the lives of the ones you loved most. They have to have policies in place to protect everyone and some people won't like them. DAF is a business and like any business it takes money to keep in operating. They may take a lot of court ordered people, I don't know, but I do know the state pays, which is more than some other situations. I have nothing but gratitude for DAF. They were there for me when I needed them, and they helped me create the foundation of my recovery. They took me in when no one else would and gave me 3 hots and a cot and armed me with enough information that I haven't found it necessary to return for additional help from them. They gave me life skills to continue with MY RECOVERY! To me its what you make of it. If you go looking in this world for trouble, you will find it. If you go looking for good, you will find that too. Its up to you to make the most of where your at and with what you have period. Coming from nothing, something was better. Thank you DAF.

Accepted Insurance

Drug Abuse Foundation of Palm Beach County,Inc works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
child-program thumbnail image
Child Program
The providers who specialize in the children's rehab space understand the specialized needs that this population faces. School-based and social services such as tutoring and family counseling are often central to treatment. Child programs may also address the needs of youth experiencing substance abuse in the home, including a parent's or sibling's addiction.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

This place saved my life, not once but twice. It does exactly what it should do, gets you clean and sober. It is not one of those fancy rehabs, but it's been saving lives for over 50 years and helping people get their life back!I was hopeless and homeless when I got there, now I'm sober, have place to live ( they helped me to get it) and my life has been better and better every day. Thank you DAF!

People get with the program! I love how people ridicule a place that is absolutely free of cost to anyone that is struggling with addiction. I mean what so you people expect room service, your clothes washes and folded for you. Let's get real. I have been in and out of treatment as well as court ordered treatment and let me tell you everyone should be thankful this place and places like it exist. Are they perfect of course not nothing and no one is but that is the point of getting sober, it's learning how to deal with everyday issues without the need of a substance to help you get through it. Some of these reviews are hysterical. For the people complaining about getting in contact with their loved ones ummmm hellllloooo did you not understand what your loved one signed up for, and do you not know of patient confeditionality . If you are looking for help than do just that seek help but please do not go to any facility with a pre Madonna attitude, I mean hey unless you rich and can afford a bunch of yes men around you.....

I was court ordered to this place and if I had to do it again I would stay in jail. This is the only treatment facility I have ever been to so I have nothing go compare it to but it is terrible. If you are court ordered they keep you for up to 6 months so they can get their money out of the government. There are brand new tvs on every wall but you are not allowed to watch ch TV at all. You have to sit in the day room in uncomfortable patio furniture for 15 hours a day and you can't even go outside. They lock all the bathrooms except for 2 which isn't enough for the 40 or so inmates and is very unsanitary. I personally witnessed 2 older inmates urinate themselves waiting in line because they couldn't hold it any longer. one of the staff brought in covid and 2 inmates 2 weeks apart got sick enough to go to the hospital tested positive for covid but myself and many other inmates that got sick were refused testing and we were not allowed to rest or anything and at one point i defacated in my pants from not being able to get to the bathroom due to the locked doors. This happened enough timed that i ran out of underwear and was not allwoed to get my laundry because theu lock you out of there as well. I had to sit in the uncomfortable patio furniture for 16 hours in soiled cloths. The clinical director judy has some major control issues.

It is a place where I feel that there is no adequate attention. My son is in that place and he looks like a person who has no family. They do not provide him with barber services. His daughter says that he is very hairy in such a way that he cannot be recognized. That should not be like that. That does not help at all in the rehabilitation of those who are in that place. Quite the opposite, it depresses them because they see themselves as street people. In addition, drug consumption apparently continues with the help of the same center staff. Please, I need to be allowed to visit family members even once because for rehabilitation the family bond is very important. I need to hug him. I miss him a lot and I feel very sad to know that my son is in a place that there is love for him. Neighbor, my son needs help, please, and I think that where he doesn't have it 100100, there is no security. People inside the rehabilitation center make calls to send him money via Zelle. This is the method they use to send him money saying that it is for buy shoes and there it is supposedly prohibited to bring anything to relatives I don't understand anything equipment the person who made the call I urge that some state institution do an audit so that the problems in that place can be resolved
