Shame on this place! They tell you it s no problem to move an appointment (because God forbid life happens) and then sneak in a $75 charge that they didn t even warn you about when you reschedule. Clearly they don t care about mental health just the almighty dollar.

Congruent Counseling Services works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab enables clients to focus exclusively on their recovery while living in a highly structured and supportive environment. Inpatient treatment is typically designed for clients who have just completed detox, are in early recovery, and/or are at an elevated risk of relapse. Their treatment generally involves intensive addiction counseling, including individual, group, and family counseling. Many inpatient rehabs also offer recovery-focused life skills training and/or holistic therapies, such as yoga, massage, and meditation.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Once a person has become addicted to a substance, drug rehab in Maryland is often necessary to overcome that addiction. These programs provide the tools individuals need to manage the physical, mental, and emotional issues involved and begin a successful recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Maryland emphasizes your current life rather than what has happened in the past. Your therapist will help you develop methods to deal with current and future challenges so you can cope in healthy ways that don't involve substances.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individualized one on one therapy allows the therapist to focus on your specific challenges and strengths. Using a personalized approach enables the therapist to help you develop effective coping mechanisms and build a more stable and fulfilling substance free life.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

When you participate in couples therapy, you learn how to understand each other better, improve your communication skills, resolve conflict, and improve relationship satisfaction. Your therapist will help you develop skills in each of these areas to strengthen your relationship.

Families in Maryland address the impact of addiction during family therapy. Your therapist fosters open communication between family members to help resolve conflicts and create a supportive environment. By improving relationships, you aid the recovery of the individual struggling with addiction.

Excellent counseling experience. Though finding a counselor can often be a lengthy process, Congruent Counseling scheduled me within two weeks of reaching out to them. Jessica Salvino was an incredibly knowledgeable, attentive provider who made each session informative while simultaneously creating a comfortable space to talk freely. She shared insightful strategies and tools to manage one's self that have made a significant difference, and can continue to be applied moving forward. Very highly recommend.

Steffani, thank you so much for this wonderful review; I will share it with Jess. We wish you continued peace and success!

I see many of these reviews are about how a specific therapist couldn t help when these people are most likely not putting the work in themselves. Therapy can t solve all of your problems immediately without you having to lift a finger. These complaints about the money, well if you show up to your appointments and you call ahead of time if you can t come you shouldn t have these problems so it seems like it s their own fault. Maybe there wouldn t be all the confusion about the billing if people would show up to their scheduled appointments. My experience was great. I had interactions with many different staff members, none of them were rude as these other people claim they were. I had Shannon Garrett as a therapist. He was amazing at what he does and he helped me in many ways. Bridgett Pieroni was my psychiatrist who was very polite and kind throughout our sessions. I was also in the IOP group for many months and there was many different staff members throughout my sessions and each one was very helpful. I m not sure of the last name but Sarah ran the IOP group and she was very kind and patient. These people writing the bad reviews are most likely not taking into consideration what therapy is actually supposed to do for someone. It s not gonna cure you fully and immediately. Especially without you having to do anything and although money may be tight, your mental health and other issues should come first so i don t see complaints about billing to be fair since these reviews have nothing to do with therapists themselves and are most likely scaring away people from getting the help they need.

Allison, thank you very much for taking your time with this review! You brought up some very important points, and we all appreciate them more than you know. As you say, 'it's not gonna cure you fully and immediately' - so very true, unfortunately. And, 'your mental health ... should come first'. While that is of course true, we recognize that it's not easy for everyone to be able to make that commitment. We try to be patient and kind! I will pass on your kind words to Shannon, Sarah, and our staff. Again, Thank You!!!

Met with Mary Wilkins but won't be returning. She is hard of hearing and missed a lot of what I said. She asked me questions that made me repeat myself and showed she hadn't heard or wasn't listening to what I said.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hello Miranda, thank you for your review. I must profess, it would have been very helpful to have this feedback more directly! We always want our clients to succeed. We wish you the best in your search for a compatible therapist.

I'm not sure who Odin is ... but I know Victoria - I was actually the one who spoke on the phone with several rude staff members who told me and my wife false information. There is a difference between a state law and a "company policy". Please retrain your staff. I found over 1.7k backlinks and directory listing for congruent counseling's website. I will make sure the other parents and listings are of aware of our family's interactions with Congruent Counseling Services - especially when Mental Health is taken as a joke.

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hello Drew, Odin supplied a review almost exactly the same as Victoria's within minutes of hers, and it was my misunderstanding that perhaps it was someone related. Anyway, please check your email - we talked to staff and we reviewed the correspondence, and were able to find the corresponding federal statutes that apply to how Medicaid is applied in the state.

This is rough ..... They lie to you about State Laws and turn you away for needing help. How can a counseling office make the stigma worse regarding mental health?

Response from the owner1 year ago
Hello Odin, do you know Victoria? Anyway, I am sorry to hear that you are having difficulty. We do our best to be as transparent and informative as possible; unfortunately sometimes that information is unwelcome. I welcome the opportunity to address your concerns; please email businessmanager@ccs-ic.com if you would like to discuss this some more. We wish you the best of luck and health.

I received exceptional therapeutic support from Mike Derry at Congruent Counseling Services. Mike helped me put my life in perspective, gave me many new tools, and offered consistent and readily available support during very challenging times for me. I'll always be grateful.

Response from the owner2 years ago
Thank you so much for saying so! We are proud to have Mike on our team, and we are pleased that he was able to provide meaningful support to you. It means a lot to us that you feel comfortable saying this! We will be sure to pass it on to Mike.

I have seen two different therapists at this office. I also see the Nurse Practitioner. All were wonderful and very skilled. My first therapist left to start her own practice and no longer accepted my insurance. I called the office to see about switching providers and I only had to wait about three weeks to be seen. I was given two different options of therapists and was able to select the one that I preferred. I think the success of therapy is really dependent on the relationship you have with the therapist and overall I have had good experiences with the therapists. All of the front desk staff I have interacted with have been professional and helpful.

Response from the owner2 years ago
This is lovely to hear, thank you. I am glad to know that you have had success with your interactions with our practice, and I wish you continued health. Take care!
