We were under the impression that there were separate intake areas... away from all other patients. What we learned is that males were provided beds that were within a male focused area; although, still not separate from individuals who had moved on from the intake process, they were removed from the Communal area.Femals who come in for assistance, are placed in two rooms that are connected to the Kitchen and the Main Communal area. The main Communal area is where breakfast, lunch, dinner, and the majority of the daily tasks/requirements for patients take place. This does not allow the female patients the opportunity to move through the withdrawal process when they arrive... as they are continuously activated by the employees from the kitchen, the patients/employees who utilize a bathroom specified for the female intake patients only, and the extensive noise from the Communal/Kitchen areas.Once you are able to get through the Intake process, for a female, you are allowed to move into the female house. If you are able to make it to the above process, you are able to begin the rehabilitation process. My group had to beg to go for a walk to the store, go for a hike in the local area, etc. We were restricted to on-site/in-house activities, which were limited. This would not have been an issue except that these types of activities were scheduled in a larger main area, where house Prisoners, who were just released, also had access to. So not only were we having to manage ourselves in a Rehabilitation environment, but we also had to ensure that when we wanted to use the outdoor/physical environment (onsite), we were not placed in an environment where recently released Prisoners were not watching us. Unfortunately, we had no control over that!

Only a few staff members make this place worth wild. They focus too much on medication in my opinion. I was there for alcohol problems, but there is little focus on that

I went here after being released from prison. My parole agent got me a bed here and this place was okay. Food okay not too many classes and they didn't choke you out with AA. This was during COVID pandemic so family visiting was difficult but drop-offs were okay. My parole agent couldn't have been more pleased I stuck it out. A lot of people jump the wall and don't return. Ridiculousness

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Chapman House Treatment Centers provide a wide variety of outpatient services In addition to all of their primary treatment programs. Many of the services that are included in their residential treatment program are also available on an outpatient or per-session basis.
inpatient iconInpatient
Inpatient rehab provides intensive treatment for clients exiting detox, those in early recovery, and those at an elevated risk of relapse. Unlike outpatient drug rehab, clients receiving inpatient care reside at the facility for the duration of the program. The length of stay may range from two weeks to 18 months or more, depending on the client's needs and the program's design. Inpatient treatment typically involves extensive addiction education and recovery-focused life skills training.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. Intensive Outpatient or IOP, consists of a minimum treatment of three days a week for three hours per day. Patients enrolled in IOP spend a large portion of their time out in the community. The primary focus of IOP is to reintegrate each individual back into society while further developing their aftercare plan, exploring job or volunteer opportunities, and preparing them to make the transition back into the “real world” and on to the next step in their recovery.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) is an intensive form of outpatient treatment where clients meet during the day and return home in the evening. PHP treatment doesn't require 24-hour care and often serves as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or a step-down after a residential program. With PHP treatment, you can receive daily support for 6 to 8 hours which includes evidence-based therapies and medication management. The cost of PHP treatment typically varies but averages 90 days.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in California is a method that therapists often use for the effective treatment of substance use disorders. It is based on the principle that substance abuse stems from unhelpful ways of thinking and patterns of behavior, which can be changed by helping the individual learn better ways of coping.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

Individual therapy for drug addiction includes a customized treatment plan that considers your history and life circumstances. During your therapy sessions, the therapist helps you uncover underlying issues and triggers for addictive behavior that support a holistic approach to recovery.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I'm not the one to write reviews often, but I have to say that Chapman House helped me keep one of the best employees on track, and I could never think that I'll ever worry about my people that much. But after I learned about my assistant's cocaine addiction, I understood that I had to do something about it, and I decided to contact this addiction treatment center. Now everything is fine, and I hope everything will remain that way

I discovered this center to help my son get through his alcohol addiction, and it turned out to be the best place for that. We've tried a few addiction treatment centers, and only after this one, he finally stopped drinking! Specialists there actually want to help, and I really appreciate the work of all the staff members there, I can't be more grateful for getting my son out of this misery

Best addiction treatment center I have encountered. Chapman House has the best addiction counselors and programs, and these guys just do an incredible job at helping people conquer their addictions. The facility is safe, peaceful, and the work they do is very innovative and far superior to other treatment facilities I have looked into. If you have a family member in need of addiction treatment / rehabilitation, I highly recommend Chapman House, and they even take insurance if you have a PPO!
