About Centerstone

Centerstone is a nonprofit hospital and addiction center in Bradenton, Florida, situated on a 16 acre former park. The center treats adults and teens who have substance use disorder. They offer outpatient intervention services and an intensive outpatient program. They’re in network with most commercial insurance plans. They also take TRICARE, Medicare and Medicaid. There’s also a scholarship program with priority given to low to middle income families.

The center offers medication assisted treatment (MAT), outpatient and inpatient detox services for teens and adults as well as residential treatment programs. Their inpatient program also serves pregnant women and individuals with dual diagnosis. They also have special programs for military service members, veterans and their family members.

Outpatient intervention services include regular counseling. There are also peer support specialists who offer help through their personal experiences with what works for recovery. You can also talk with a case manager.

If you’re an adult in need of something more intensive but don’t need inpatient services, the intensive outpatient program includes about 10-15 hours of treatment per week. You’ll spend time in intense individual therapy and group work but still have time for employment.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient programs are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare. Centerstone offers the largest psychiatric specialist medical group in the region. The facility also provides individual and group counseling services for children, adults and seniors as well as family therapy to address individual emotional and behavioral problems. Counselors help with difficulties in many areas including mood management, anxiety, depression, family relationship issues, parenting, anger and co-occurring and additions. Psychologists offer testing to assist in care.

inpatient iconInpatient

Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Instensive Outpatient programs are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs. The Centerstone Intensive Outpatient Team provides community based services at an intensity and frequency required to prevent individuals from experiencing multiple crisis center/hospital admissions. The facility also assists family members in providing a support plan for their loves ones through personal concierge services.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

A sober living home in Florida often serves as a transitional residence for individuals coming out of inpatient rehab. This helps those in recovery avoid isolation that can sometimes happen after they return home from treatment. It offers a supportive environment where they can practice skills learned in rehab. Offering a combination of structure and freedom, men's or women's sober living is a good stepping stone to independent life in recovery.

heart-hands iconIntervention Services

Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Often referred to as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers an intensive treatment option that allows individuals to return home at night. PHP treatment typically requires a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. Participants attend daily therapeutic sessions, receive medication management, and have access to skilled medical professionals. While costs can vary, most insurance will fully or partially cover a partial hospitalization program.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

As a short term therapeutic method, motivational interviewing in Florida requires only a couple of sessions. During these sessions, you'll have the opportunity to talk about your circumstances and any discrepancies between your current situation and future goals. You'll then decide for yourself what changes you want to make.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

couples-therapy iconCouples Therapy

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

life-skills iconLife Skills

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

nutritional-therapy iconNutritional Therapy

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy helps you recover from addiction by giving you structured activities that promote your physical health and mental well being. These activities could range from sports and fitness to creative arts and provide a constructive outlet for your emotions and stress.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Your mind, body, and emotions interact in complex ways. Experiential therapy addresses all three of these aspects. Interactive and creative activities provide physical sensations and evoke emotional responses. These offer insight into how you interact with the world and any negative patterns you need to change.

If you can actually get ahold of anyone here they are all very nice. I was seen in a very reasonable amount of time but the psychiatrist I saw talked with me for about 20 min, diagnosed me bi polar, and then wouldn t refill one med and dropped two others in half. They were already very low doses. My mental health got really bad, I am having trouble working and am binge eating again after 3 years of being ok. Panic attacks weekly and absolutely miserable. She refused to give me my normal meds back and refused to send them to my pharmacy so I paid more than double for them at their pharmacy. Just an absolutely horrible experience.

I want to leave behind my horrible experience that I had in Center Stone. I was treated by a doctor named Beth Hicks. This doctor forced me to take medications that were harmful to me. I told her that I didn't feel well, that I couldn't take them, and she insisted that I continue. She never helped me. In my situation, she humiliated me and treated me as if I were trash. I was with her for 3 months and it was a nightmare. 5 days ago I went to the appointment and he continued with that unprofessional attitude of pressuring me to take a medication that I indicated... I no longer knew how to explain to him and what he did was tell me that he was not going to treat me anymore and that he would find me a healthcare provider. served in Spanish. He left me without medication, he told the nurse that he would give me the medication if I had a blood test, I went to take the test and he continued with his denial of service and I asked the case manager named Nicole Safarini and the only people denied me the medicines The front desk people are kind, the case manager and the doctor turned my life into agony. To this day they have not given a call because what they care about is charging the insurance and being patient when they die. I had to seek help from a lawyer to be able to stop all the injustice that this center commits. Please don't go to Center Stone, they abuse the patients.I want to leave behind my horrible experience that I had in Center Stone. I was treated by a doctor named Beth Hicks. I have not had any experience here. If I needed mental health help, why would I choose this facility. The reviews are so bad. It seems both locations. Need a new way to help and treat mental health. So disturbing to say the least.

If I could give Centerstone 0 stars I would. I have never experienced a more unprofessional medical setting.I called in July asking for an appointment and was told the earliest new patient appointment for a doctor was Sept 12th. Hurricane Irma went through a few days before, so the office left a recording on the 12th saying they were closed. The next day, I called to reschedule. The receptionist said they had an appointment available the following Wednesday with Dr. Hamblin, so I was relieved I didn't have to wait another 2 months. About an hour later, I received a call from the doctor I was supposed to see on Tuesday (Dr. Reuter), letting me know that I could get an appointment with someone that day at a different office location. I called back and made the appointment, which was with Dr. Whitman. The receptionist told me he would cancel the Hamblin appointment since I was seeing Whitman that day. He told me to show up 30 minutes early to fill out new patient paperwork.I show up with my 5-month old that day, and they tell me there is no paperwork, and they don't know why someone would say there was. I sit 30 extra minutes with my baby. When I see Whitman he says "I don't know why they made this appointment - I'm not taking any new patients." I told him that I was told my new patient info would be transferred to my preferred location. I said that I had an appointment with Hamblin for next Wednesday, but the front desk told me to cancel it in lieu of this appointment. He said "I don't know why they would tell you to do that."I go out to the front desk, and tell them what's happened, and ask if I can still have the Hamblin appointment. After a few minutes of checking, they confirm that my Wednesday appointment has been reset. On Monday, I have a 1:30 appointment with a counselor. I arrive with my baby, and I'm told that my appointment is actually at 2:00. AGAIN no mysterious paperwork to fill out. I ask them to confirm my appointment time for Wednesday, since I have now been told the wrong time twice. She tells me my appointment is scheduled for 12:45 (I was told 12). I sit for 40 minutes before my name is called (so she was still 10 minutes late). On Tuesday, I receive a reminder call about my appointment on Wednesday, only this time it says the appointment is at 12:15 (not 12:45). At this point, I have heard 3 different times for this appointment, and I was not going to sit an extra 30 minutes for a 3rd time. I called Centerstone to get written confirmation of the time. I waited 10 minutes for someone to pick up and no one did. Eventually, I called back so I could leave a message.I have never experienced such a lack of communication from a medical practice. I wouldn't trust any counselor or doctor that would work at such a trainwreck of a place.***9/26/17: I'd also like to add they billed my insurance $316 for the Whitman appt. He said he wasn't taking new patients and didn't understand why they made the appt. In what universe is this claim justified?

Extremely disappointed in this place, the only positive review I can leave is It is clean, but thats all .. I spent 1/2 hour filling out paper work, then the nurse practitioner calls me Deb ( I found that very unprofessional ) my Name is Deborah ... The only reason I chose this place was because I could no longer drive to Venice to see my Doctor of 10 years .. I just needed to find a new doctor to write my medications .. I believe this nurse practitioner was out of line trying to change the medication I have been on for 10 years.. I did not like her personality at all, I will never return it was a big waste of my time!!!! Don't waste your's .

a few years ago , I was going thru a tough time. dealing with loss, I felt like I had to repeat things at every visit. and I wasn't really listened to. Like she was just doodling on paper or something. so I stopped going. She was very rude. To each there own. I hope not all the people that work there are like that counsler. All it takes is one bad apple to spoil the whole lot.
