About Cenikor Foundation

Cenikor Foundation is a comprehensive drug and alcohol treatment center in Deer Park, Texas. They have a full continuum of care from inpatient (IP) to outpatient programs to give you the ideal level of support at each stage of your recovery.

The journey here typically starts with detox. You’ll have medical care around the clock while they ease your withdrawal symptoms and monitor your health. After detox you’ll typically transition into the residential rehab which is the most intensive level of treatment they offer.

During your residential treatment you’ll have a personalized program that incorporates 12 Step principles but is ultimately focused on what will best benefit your recovery. You’ll have individual therapy and group therapy along with addiction education and life skills development that will empower your long term recovery. The length of the program will depend on you and how you progress.

When you finish residential rehab there are outpatient programs here too and gradual levels of intensity so you can downsize your support as you get more stable in your sobriety. There’s a partial hospitalization (PHP) or day treatment program where treatment is essentially your full time job but you live at home or in transitional housing. The next step down is intensive outpatient (IOP) and then traditional outpatient (OP) treatment. In all of these cases, you’ll have a structured schedule of group therapy sessions.

In residential and outpatient treatment they offer medications for recovery here too. Those medications can help with the physical symptoms and cravings from opioid addiction or alcohol addiction.

Clients at this treatment center compliment the counselors as well as the scheduling and other logistics of this treatment center. They say that the staff always treats them with compassion and dignity and that the staff holds them accountable to their goals.

outpatient iconOutpatient

Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

inpatient iconInpatient Rehab

Inpatient rehab programs are geared toward clients in early recovery. They also provide intensive support for clients in crisis and those at an increased relapse risk. Clients receive housing and meals while in inpatient care, allowing them to focus solely on their recovery. Most programs prioritize addiction counseling but may draw on various psychotherapeutic modalities, including CBT, DBT, RBT, trauma therapy, and motivational interviewing. Life skills training and holistic therapies are also common in inpatient care.

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive outpatient programs offer high-level care for clients as an increased risk of relapse, including those in early recovery, those with a strong history of relapse, and those experiencing a crisis. Intensive outpatient treatment typically requires clients to engage in nine to 20 hours of care weekly, with treatment modalities that combine psychotherapy and recovery education, and holistic therapies, such as acupuncture and animal therapy. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) is also common in alcohol and/or opioid recovery.

aftercare iconAftercare

Rehab aftercare programs are based on a model of continuing care and the premise that recovery is a life-long process requiring ongoing client support. Many rehab aftercare services include outpatient care, but clients often continue to receive support after being discharged from formal treatment. Case managers and care teams typically collaborate with clients to design their long-term care plan, which may include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction, among other services.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

Commonly known as "day treatment," a partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers intensive addiction treatment while allowing you to return home each day. It can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option. Depending on your needs, PHP treatment typically averages 90 days with a weekly requirement of 6-8 hours a day. PHP treatment offers a variety of therapeutic interventions such as individual counseling, group therapy, and psychoeducation. Oftentimes PHP treatment can be fully covered by insurance.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

24-hour clinical care in Texas provides a safe environment for medical detox. This setting is crucial to provide medical care during withdrawal. Certain withdrawal symptoms can cause life-threatening conditions, but patients in a supervised clinical setting have treatment readily available to address any symptoms before they become severe. Treatment can also be provided for co-occurring physical and mental health issues.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

During rehab in Texas, you'll deal with underlying issues that contribute to addiction. By addressing these challenges and learning healthy ways to cope with them, you'll develop strategies that help you live a drug-free lifestyle.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

The goal of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in Texas is to change thought patterns, which leads to changes in behavior. Specific techniques during CBT can include self talk, SMART goals, journaling, and positive activities.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Treatment that takes a dialectical behavior therapy approach focuses on four strategies. Distress tolerance will help you accept and tolerate intense emotions. Emotional regulation will teach you to manage those emotions. Mindfulness will keep you in the present moment instead of regret or worry. Interpersonal effectiveness will teach you to manage your relationships.

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

mental-health iconIndividual Therapy

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

Therapy sessions that incorporate motivational interviewing focus on OARS: open questions, affirmation, reflections, and summarizing. This facilitates an exchange of information and an empowering of the client to decide for themselves what changes might need to be made in their lives.

house-medical iconTrauma Therapy

Together with an experienced trauma therapist, you work on healing emotional wounds from traumatic experiences within a trauma therapy environment. Your therapist will help you process the experience of the trauma, which promotes emotional healing and improves your overall mental health.

family iconFamily Therapy

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

nicotine iconNicotine Replacement Therapy

When used as recommended, nicotine replacement therapy in Texas provides enough nicotine to help you avoid severe cravings and withdrawal symptoms after quitting smoking. This increases comfort so you're less likely to relapse into your smoking habit.

I can't believe some of the reviews of this place. They are reviews of people who didn't get their way or have a bad attitude and resentment . I went to cenikor twice and they were very good to me. I didn't finish because I had a lot of pride and toxic behaviours. But they are very kind and understanding and they have a good program. You get job opportunities through cenikor. If you really apply yourself. I was there in 2014 and they are sanitary and yes it's a tough program but I mean if you want to change and your determined you'll tough it out. Thankyou Cenikor for trying to help me. I have been clean and sober for several years now and you are one of the places that helped along the way. God bless

I got interviewed for a PRN position and was excited about starting. The time came for orientation and being that I have a full-time job, I put in PTO only to be told that it has to be canceled and rescheduled. Got the orientation rescheduled and communicated a time, only to be told that the HR personnel won't be available until later in the afternoon and she told me that it would be okay to come in the following day to complete all paperwork during the rescheduled orientation. I get a call Very unprofessional and no empathy at all for me taking days of my PTO time. Don't waste your time

I came into Cenikor on July 3rd. The intake process was fast and the ladies (Lilly, and the nurse) were great. Now behind closed doors was a different story. I was emotionally and mentally abused. They over medicated me, then under medicated me. I was at the point of using a walker which I don t normally use. I was rudely awoken by a BHT, she was yelling at me to get up, so I did and I ended up falling. They called EMS and said since we are calling EMS we are medically discharging you .The clients stole over $1700 worth of items from me and when confronted about it, the staff couldn t care less. Do NOT go to this location if you need help. They DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, they only want your money.

Response from the owner2 months ago
Hi Alayna, thanks for taking the time to share your feedback. Unfortunately, sometimes a higher level of care is needed to keep you safe, especially during detox. Typically, patients can return once they are discharged from the hospital if there are no behavioral issues that go against our rules. We passed your comment about lost items along to facility leadership, but do want to remind you that the packing list specifically states not to bring valuables or drugs into our facilities. If someone brings contraband items, we will dispose of it. We care about about our clients and do all we can to provide behavioral health treatment for all. In fact, 93% of clients are likely to recommend us. Take care!

DO NOT GO HERE! The Black Mold that is consuming the interior of this facility is seriously dangerous! I ve been sober for two years seven months three days free of meth and heroin. The mold in Cenikor in deer park will keep Everyone high and coughing up colored mucus constantly! NOTHING is being done about it 2 eradicate the growing mold. This facility has a very unpleasant musty moldy smell and your allergies will Flare up causing inflammation to your eyes, nose and lungs. Find somewhere else that is safe to breathe because the facility faculty be outside smoking cigarettes to avoid inhaling the respiratory compromised chronic obstructive pulmonary disease spores! I can t believe the STATE of TEXAS is allowing this place to operate with such deadly fungal infectious mycosis floating in the air, The staff is very nice though. This particular location has a revolving door of new people so be prepared for that. The facility ignore inquires about mold and will tell u to leave if you even ask about it. Almost like breathe and die or leave that s your ultimatum. I finally relocated to a sober living facility in Conroe tx and I can t tell you how amazing the experience has been here. Since relocating to a sober home in Conroe Texas there is No favoritism, no racism, no one stealing your personal belongings. I had a PS5 just walk out my 3 man dorm a few months ago at Cenikor in pasadena tx. The staff has no limit on personal belongings so patients move in with 6,666 square feet of personal belongings and crowd the small living spaces making it very uncomfortable. I pray everyone living here finds a better sober living home because this place needs to be shut DOWN!

Hi Dondria, we appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. We could not find you in our patient database but want to assure you that we've passed this on to senior leadership. If a report was made about a missing item, we would have been able to review the video footage. Our facilities are routinely inspected and maintained to ensure the health and safety of our clients, and we recently received another 3-year accreditation from CARF. We did investigate this and learned there was an issue with the shower steam from a restroom fan that caused mildew, but that has been cleaned. Take care!

Great staff from top to bottom, the job they have is not easy ( by any means) they deal with situations where as the individual has been in some cases cast out by their own families, sometimes suffering from mental issues, abuse's, neglect things of that nature, some individuals not there by choice but because of probation or family intervention, these are the people writing the majority of the Negative reviews, my review doesn't come from a bystander or family member but from a client and I believe I truly owe my life to these people.... Remember we are on earth-and there is no cure for that... everyday comes with it's own problems...but also with it's own blessings remember the staff there are human to...My hats off to the director a strong-strong woman firm but fair focused on the mission, and to the Counselors and BHT's...Luv you guys..thanks for everything...it's amazing I started this review to thank the evening cook on 5/25/24 for the Mac & Cheese Lol!...but the negative and... In my opinion unfair reviews got my attention....oh yea I almost forgot (Roll Tide)

As with anything in life, you get out what you put in. I utilized the highly qualified and caring staff to the utmost and had an outstanding experience. Recovery isn t easy and it certainly isn t for the faint of heart; changing oneself from the inside out is arduous and fiddly and requires willingness, steely resolve and trained, experienced guides through the process. And this place has it! It s a lifelong endeavor; I was put on the right path at this place and I look back with gratitude for their significant part in my recovery.JJ

Hi JJ, we love hearing this! Thank you so much for sharing. Glad you were able to find better health and happiness with Cenikor. We'll be sure to pass this on to the facility team.

The only good thing about this place is that I got into a good sober living. I ve been trying to get IOP set up for over a week and I keep getting told that I ll be reached out too and the call never comes. The staff plays favoritism there are a few good staff here like the nurses and the recovery coach ms charyle and ms Kim. The 2 lead bhts aren t very good. You have to really want it to make it out of there.
