Cedar Oaks Wellness Center

About Cedar Oaks Wellness Center

Resting on 120 acres of sprawling grounds just outside Cincinnati, Cedar Oaks Wellness Center is an inpatient drug and alcohol rehab that makes healing feel possible. They’re based in Oregonia, Ohio. In addition to residential care, they also offer medication assisted treatment (MAT), detox, and a dual diagnosis program for those experiencing substance use disorder and mental health concerns.

Their secluded and peaceful location is the perfect backdrop for your healing journey, and it gives you the chance to connect with nature and focus on your recovery without the distractions of everyday life.

During treatment, they use motivational interviewing (MI), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and cognitive behavior therapy (CBT) techniques to help you build the skills necessary for lasting sobriety.

A great thing about Cedar Oaks Wellness Center is the way they truly tailor your treatment program to fit you. They don’t believe in taking a one-size-fits-all approach to addiction, and so they go out of their way to make unique treatment programs for each of their clients.

The staff also deeply understand how addiction is chronic in nature and needs long-term solutions, not quick fixes. They help you understand how substances affect your body and mental state, and work with you to reprogram unhealthy habits and damaging behavior patterns to prevent relapse.

They also include extensive aftercare planning, so you feel supported long after your treatment is complete. They connect you to resources that help you maintain sober habits. You’ll also be able to stay connected to your peers through their alumni app, which you gain lifetime access to when you’ve completed treatment.

Accepted Insurance

Cedar Oaks Wellness Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are designed to ensure clients receive continuing care while in the maintenance phase of recovery. Some clients may be in outpatient treatment, which is generally considered to be an element of drug rehab aftercare. The specific services provided in these programs are often determined by the client's case manager and care team in consultation with the client. Common services include peer coaching, career counseling, and 12 step program induction.
12-step icon12-Step
Many treatment centers base their recovery models on the 12 step programming standard, which combines intensive peer support with spiritual, psychological, and emotional growth. Participants in 12 step recovery programs are expected to regularly attend group meetings, which are free, anonymous, peer-led, and open to the public. They are also required to select a sponsor to guide them through the recovery journey. These programs deploy spiritual principles to foster participants' self-understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and accountability.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services help family members prepare for a drug intervention in Ohio. During an intervention, family members typically read letters they have prepared that explain how the individual's substance abuse has affected their lives and relationships. Each family member also explains what they will do if the individual does not agree to get treatment. An intervention specialist offers support to guide this discussion and makes appropriate treatment recommendations.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals with moderate to severe addictions, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides a more intensive form of outpatient therapy. PHP treatment can serve as an alternative to inpatient hospitalization or as a step-down option after being discharged from a hospital or residential program. A partial hospitalization program typically requires a minimum of 20 hours weekly for an average of 90 days. Depending on your care plan, PHPs can include relapse prevention, medication management, and behavioral therapy services.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox involves clearing your body of drugs and/or alcohol under the 24/7 care of licensed medical professionals. If you've become dependent on alcohol or drugs (like benzodiazepines or opioids), quitting abruptly can have uncomfortable and even dangerous side effects. The purpose of medically assisted detox is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible during this process. Medications like Suboxone or Vivitrol may be provided if necessary to mitigate any withdrawal symptoms.

Treatments

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
postpartum-program thumbnail image
Postpartum Program
The postpartum period is a sensitive time, especially for women in addiction recovery. Rehabs with specialized programs for new mothers will offer compassionate, personalized care to meet each client's needs as they transition from pregnancy to this season of life. Care teams may include obstetricians, pediatricians, and social workers working collaboratively to give women, children, and families a healthy future.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Ohio may occur in individual, group, or family sessions. It involves focusing on specific thought and behavior problems. Participants learn coping techniques and are asked to practice them as homework between sessions.

The main goals of dialectical behavior therapy are to teach you how to regulate your emotions, develop positive ways to cope with stress, improve your relationships, and live in the moment. This therapy lasts about six months and involves weekly individual and group sessions.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

With trauma therapy, you can reclaim your life after witnessing or experiencing a traumatic event. Therapists help you process the memories, which promotes emotional healing and enables you to build resilience to navigate future challenges and triggers.

Some couples therapy in Ohio is designed as short term treatment to address a specific problem in the relationship, such as anxiety, depression, or addiction. Other couples therapy may focus on general strengthening of the relationship by improving interactions.

Family therapy offers a group time to collectively make an effort to understand and combat the issues and challenges associated with addiction. Therapists work with family members to establish healthy boundaries between each other and their loved one who is addicted, improve emotional support systems, and work together toward a sustained long term recovery.

Life skills provide stability. They increase the strengths that you bring to recovery by equipping you with the tools you need to navigate daily life. During rehab, you'll develop these strengths through life skills training that focuses on both cognitive and behavioral abilities.

Nutrition therapy helps with detox and drug rehab treatment in Ohio. This treatment gives you the skills you need to develop healthy eating habits, which help you recover more quickly and maintain long term sobriety.

Recreational therapy supports recovery from drug and alcohol addiction by providing you with enjoyable activities that improve your physical and mental health. When you engage in sports, creative arts, and nature excursions, it helps reduce your cravings and stress levels while building a supportive community of peers who can help promote your long term sobriety.

Creative arts therapy can be an effective tool for recovery. It can relieve depression and anxiety and help you feel more in control of your life. Through creative expression, it can help you explore difficult emotions and process challenging situations.

I m going to give you a true review of Cedar Oaks wellness. The campus is on a beautiful piece of wooded acres. If you want to be in a big city environment don t go there. I spent a total of 9 weeks there. The employees and patients were great. The classes are led by the therapist. They will be very real with your situation. The housing is nice and clean. I have been to plenty of rehabs. People will always find something negative about any where. The clients in residential have more freedom than any where else I have been. If you want to get sober this place should definitely be considered. I would give it a 9 out of 10

All around great staff, Wonderful nurses that are extremely nice and caring for what you are going through. Aj is the best facilitator i could have ever asked for, in my recovery journey i had never had a facilitator like Aj. Cedar oaks is very lucky to have her. She is intense and very passionate about recovery and gets down to the source of substance abuse. I really have no words to say how much she helped me out. She will always have a place in my heart. Food is amazing with a beautiful wonderful cook. The place is all around amazing with outdoor therapy and a really nice environment for everyone to relax and work on the things needed. My only complaint would be that i had wanted to stay there for the rest of my recovery journey but it felt like i was sold off to another facility by Robert. He seems like he has your best interest in mind but comes off very fake. Other than that i had a wonderful expirience there and I am grateful to have been able to experience Ajs groups. If you want to stay sober or work on your mental health, Cedar Oaks will help you get on the correct path!

Not as advertised by rep. Was given a checklist that did NOT say toiletries had to be unopened and i was restricted of them, was not told i had to be in the detox quarters for 7 days. Was advertised they customize to client but no one came to lay out a plan. Was told i would be visited by NP or doctor everyday. Not today until i said i was leaving for other options.I proactively attended classes even the ones residential clients only could attend. Otherwise we were watching tv all day (not doing for 7 days). I really wanted to be proactive but they were not proactive with me. Hardly any clients are there. Last item, found a decent sized hair in my chili. I dont think many program activities as advertised. Not that transparent. Just not a fit. Go to an IOP unless you HAVE to get away. My two cents.

I was there for 7 weeks and I can honestly tell you it has changed my life and our family s lives. The staff actually and truly cares about each client and treats them like family. I never had a day where I didn t fee heard or seen. Even by the staff that I didn t directly work with. The facilities are very clean and welcoming. The atmosphere and environment was honestly so serene and a perfect place to heal. I can t say enough positive things about Cedar Oaks. They will always hold a very special place in my heart.

Cedar Oaks has been a game changer for me. That place was my 18th time in treatment and this facility, the staff, and the program has been incredibly different than the others. Substance use was a symptom of my mental state was stated several times. I knew this, but was refreshing to hear it from professionals. They dig deep, so saddle up, but GD is it worth it.The facility is great and the scenery is awesome, but the staff makes Cedar Oaks what it is. The RA s, nursing staff, medical staff, and counselors were beyond great. Those people are special. I genuinely have love for them. Also, AJ is a rockstar! If you re sick and tired of being beat down by addiction or mental health, do yourself a favor and stop searching and get help there.

We finally got my significant other to agree to detox for his first time ever. And this center hurt him more than it helped him. It is so discouraging to send a loved one into a place and trust them with the beginning of his sobriety journey only to be left with more recovering for him to do. From him not even getting most of his belongings we packed him for days, to aggressive and inappropriate encounters with other patients/staff members, social cliques/outcasting, counselors/doctor and therapy not providing the necessary resources/time/support, to lack of knowledge from staff on his medication and his wellbeing and not hearing back from the nurses station. I do not know if this is due to poor management, being understaffed, or other factors.. I get being understaffed, I don t get disregarding a patient s health. I work in a severely understaffed and overwhelmed medical environment and still take the time and effort to make sure people are taken care of correctly and safely. It is not all the staff, some are friendly and seem to genuinely care, but the negatives seem to vastly outweigh the positives. He had to leave 4 days into a 10 day detox. Just left confused and frustrated because his family and I had high hopes with this wellness center due to the reviews, the atmosphere, and friendly/personable conversations we had with the staff before taking him here.
