HIPAA violations, medical chart violations, medical diagnostic violations, patients rights violations. You know it this company does it! With gusto! They actually love ruining people lives and intentionally making them harder. This company failed to send documentation of completion of services (required by law). Then the nurse for Dr Brooks is so grossly incompetent that she can t figure out how to send a prescription somewhere else. She also doesn t know that she s required to return a phone call with 48 hours instead of 6 days. When you do hear back from her you will be met with nothing but stupid word after stupid word that falls out her mouth (Id say it s how she talks but based of her slurred speech there s definitely substance abuse issues there.)Next you have Melissa who can t even send over treatment completion in a timely manner resulting in several mental health crises as I was threatened with being arrested. After that because Melissa is incompetent you get to be on the phone with Andrew in Records (not to mess with the theme: also grossly incompetent.) Who thinks it s appropriate to hang up on patients in a crisis. The lawsuit I am going to be bringing against this place for 1st, 2nd, 6th, 8th, and 9th Amendment rights violations, loss of enjoyment of life, mental trauma, as well as distress is going to mean I won t have to work another day in my life. Buckle up because it s going to be rough.Even more disturbing is Ted making young queer men on Grindr even though he is the one doing classes for those individuals for various substance abuse issues. I have screenshots of that.

Hi Hailey, we are truly sorry to hear that this has been your experience. We encourage you to email info@burrellcenter.com with details about your experience so we can get this sorted out for you.

Location

Accepted Insurance

Burrell Behavioral Health Murney Clinic works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Missouri is a planned meeting between a person struggling with addiction and their close friends and family members. The goal of the intervention is to motivate the individual to seek treatment. To be successful, an intervention requires careful planning which may involve intervention services from an intervention specialist. Theyl can be certified by the Association of Intervention Specialists, or they may have other expertise that qualifies them for this role.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Designed for individuals who don't require 24/7 monitoring, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) provides intensive-level treatment while allowing you to stay at home. PHP treatment typically requires a commitment of at least 20 hours of treatment per week for an average duration of 90 days. Services commonly offered in PHP include medication management and evidence-based therapies, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT). Insurance coverage for PHP treatment may vary depending on your provider.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Missouri usually involves several phases: detox, rehab, and aftercare. The rehab phase may include a combination of inpatient and outpatient treatments, as the individual moves through a continuum of care on their recovery journey.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

A complete course of dialectical behavior therapy typically takes six months. Skills training happens in a group setting. You'll also attend weekly individual treatment sessions to receive coaching from a therapist. You'll work on understanding and accepting your feelings and learn how to manage them to make positive changes.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Couples therapy in Missouri deals with the problems each partner has within themselves and with each other. Sessions may be held jointly and others individually to address these issues and help each partner learn how to manage challenges in healthy ways.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

Family therapy sessions help individual family members in Missouri learn to improve their communication skills and understand how the family dynamic is both affected by addiction and affects their loved one's addiction. Therapists work with individual members to identify and modify negative behaviors which helps create a more supportive home environment.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nicotine replacement therapy in Missouri addresses physical dependence on nicotine, while support systems and behavioral therapy address the psychological aspects of addiction. Formats include inhalers, nasal sprays, lozenges, patches, and gum.

The receptionist has an attitude 24/7, and it makes me annoyed. Also, the services aren't the most efficient ones. You can go somwhere better.

This place is probably one of the best places for mental health and addictions centers . These people go the extra mile to help you succeed in life even with the added problems a person might have or be going through . I appreciate the services provided to us thru various places like probation and parole and cox health and even the police and fire men who might have thought about getting a person some much needed assistance . If anyone deserves a 6 star rating it's this place . Thanks everyone who puts forth a big heart to the Springfield community .

I would not recommend this place for anyone, seeking actual treatment and consistency for their mental health. I have been with Burrell for almost 3 years and the entire time they struggle to keep appointments, to call in prescription refills, to call in the correct refills(oh and good luck trying to get in contact with someone when you need your meds).!they have repeatedly every few months left me to go without my prescription for weeks at a time causing me to go back in and out of mental stability repeatedly and forcing me to go into their crisis center just to be able to receive my medication s that I need. If you want some actual help choose anywhere, but here.

So I was a patient with Burrell and I saw a psychiatrist to prescribe and refill my medications. Well, on my last visit with my psychiatrist, she failed to tell me that she was leaving Burrell and then when I called to make my next appointment, they told me she didn t work there anymore and the next available psychiatrist appointment was in a couple of months. I had already been on my last refill and they had just ran out so I couldn t wait any longer as I was feeling heavy withdrawal symptoms. I told them this and they said word for word, we will refill that medication for you temporarily until your next appointment. Well, they NEVER filled that prescription and I went through horrible withdrawal symptoms(ie: nausea, dizziness, lethargy, and literally vomiting every day) for 4 months straight. I was done with Burrell the moment I realized they didn t do what they said they would, and then I had to deal with them sending me patient paperwork to fill out for future appointments and I had to call them multiple times to get them to stop bc I was DONE with Burrell. Now I m with Eustasis and I m on more helpful medications and I m super happy:)

They've refused to let me talk to a therapist for four months straight. They keep telling me they'll call me to get me scheduled with one, but they don't. When I call them, they tell me they'll call me, and hang up.
