About Brentwood Springs

The Brentwood Springs rehab center in Newburgh, IN, provides treatment for substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The modern facility offers evidence based care to adults while providing a holistic approach to treatment.

Brentwood Springs offers a full continuum of addiction and mental health treatment through personalized care plans that meet the needs of its patients. Their levels of care provide many services, including:

The facility offers fully supervised detox services to help minimize the discomfort of withdrawal and ensure patient safety. Therapeutic programming is also provided throughout the detox process. Detox typically lasts between 1-3 weeks, depending on the substance used, the symptoms of the patient, and other factors unique to the patient’s needs.

Inpatient treatment provides semi private hotel rooms and outdoor areas during the patient’s stay. Based on individual patients’ needs, various treatment is provided, including behavioral and holistic therapies, wellness education, educational programs, and recreational activities. The length of stay depends on the individual.

A PHP is often a “step down” option for individuals who have received inpatient treatment. Typically the programs generally last up to 12 hours a day, five days a week. Treatment may include behavioral and holistic therapies, group meetings, and medication.

IOPs provide care to those who do not require round the clock medical care or crisis stabilization. These programs usually last 3-5 days a week with three hours of treatment per day. Most IOPs offer some combination of supervised medication management, education, training and skill building, and individual talk therapy or support meetings.

I was there this year a couple of times I thought at first I was getting help I needed It was up until the end of my stay when I informed them i was homeless at which point felt like they didn't care and was just trying to kick me out and get rid of me then instead of helping find a safe place to go they suggested I go to a rehab facility for drug abuse when I don't have a issue with drugs to have somewhere to go

Staff was kind, in a distant at least you re human sort of way.People are still allowed to take smoke breaks (in which I did not partake, so I don t know how they got access to all those cigarettes). The cafeteria food was beyond terrible for all but one of the meals I received (and that was taco salad, which is super hard to screw up). It s not the fault of cafeteria staff - they just prepare and serve what they re provided. The cooked vegetables are always mushy, the meat slab (usually a poultry because it s cheapest and they don t expect mentally ill people to care what we eat) is either overcooked, flavorless, or both, and they push starches - to put it differently, cheap filler - like they have some kind of deals with Sara Lee and so on. As someone who habitually uses eating as an opportunity for the five senses grounding exercise, I had literally nothing to look forward to that could calm me except the anxiety meds. Snacks consist of starches like those tiny single-serve bags of chips or Goldfish (usually Goldfish, not even the tastier Flavor Blasted kind), mozzarella cheese sticks, individual cups of peanut butter, saltines, or some sour fruit. Rarely you ll catch some fresh vegetables in there, just not anything really good like cauliflower or broccoli or red/yellow/orange bell peppers. The last snack of the day is indistinguishable from a sandwich-based meal (complete with a sodium-starch single serve chip bag and a sweet-starch single serve animal cracker bag or granola bar) except that they refuse to put condiments in with the ham or turkey sandwiches they bring as the 9pm snack. And if you happen to take a late night snack bag when it s peanut butter and jelly, you re getting bread with a smell more than anything. For that matter, condiments in general seem to be scarce beyond understanding at Brentwood Springs. They have no mayonnaise, only sour/savory mayo. They don t make available the single-serve BBQ sauce, ketchup packets, soy sauce, tartar sauce, ranch, and so on that I keenly recall from my stays at Deaconess Cross Pointe. If they didn t provide salt, pepper, sugar and its relevant substitutes I don t think I could have made myself work through any of their meals at Brentwood EXCEPT for the aforementioned taco salad. How poor is this company, that they cannot afford to give clients food that tastes more like food? Even the bananas that were offered in the cafeteria were more banana bread style bananas (super mushy) than eating bananas, as though they d been held onto for too long before being served. I mean, local businesses use food delivery apps to acquire fresh produce from Schnucks every day - it s not that difficult to arrange. To top it all off, I suspect the entire reason the food was almost entirely of a mushy / overcooked consistency is to make it faster to shuffle us back to our rooms, because you hardly have to chew. I guess maybe some folks there are so drugged they *can t* chew.If it wasn t for being left aghast and appalled at the food options, I might have rated this place four stars. They wouldn t get five from me, however, because staff members had several chances to tell me there were no community underwear available into which I could insert a menstrual pad; I waited fruitlessly for about an hour for people that had stated they were going to go check on underwear instead of simply telling me there weren t any and that I d have to wear a stupid adult diaper if I wanted not to leak all over their clothing, furniture, and bedding. It felt like those staff members (wish I remembered names as they deserve to be called out) would have said *anything* to me to get me to leave them alone to do whatever else it was (besides, y know, helping a patient that makes their job security a thing) that s part of their jobs.I d also snip half a star for this place allowing (unsure if it s *encouraging*) staff members to reference religion at all during groups. We re supposed to be moving away from our delusions, not just trading them for more acceptable ones.

Accepted Insurance

Brentwood Springs works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
In the Inpatient Program, patients receive detailed clinical and medical assessments, psychiatric stabilization and rehabilitation care. This program offers the advantages of a controlled, structured environment with 24-hour nursing care and intensive treatment not available on an outpatient basis. It may include up to 10 hours per day of programming. During treatment, each patient connects with a treatment team, including a physician, nurse, primary therapist and recreational therapist. A full schedule of treatment activities addresses the biological, psychological and relationship skills needed for recovery. These activities include group therapy, fitness and wellness, education lectures and family engagement, among others.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Brentwood Springs offers two options for those looking for outpatient mental health and addiction treatment. Their Intensive Outpatient Program is detailed below and you can click here for information on our Partial Hospitalization Program. The Intensive Outpatient Program provides structured therapy three days a week. Patients typically spend 9-15 hours per week in the program. The treatment model is evidence-based and a combination of national recognized programs including the Hazelden program, motivation enhancement therapy, reality therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, twelve step facilitation and dialectical behavioral therapy. Recreation, art and music therapy groups are also provided.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) can provide intensive rehab on a short-term basis. While PHP treatment typically requires a commute, telehealth may be available. PHP treatment costs can vary but are often covered by most insurance. The program duration can vary to meet your specific needs and require you to meet for a minimum of 20 hours a week for an average of 90 days. PHP Treatment services often include relapse prevention strategies, medication management, individual and group counseling, and other behavioral therapy interventions.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
At certain points in the recovery process, it's important to have support available 24/7. 24-hour clinical care offers a safe environment in which to recover from drug or alcohol addiction in peace, knowing medical detox and other treatment will happen with professionals on hand.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

For long-term recovery from drug addiction, drug rehab in Indiana is often key. This treatment gives individuals who are struggling with a substance use disorder the tools to manage their disorder and achieve long-term sobriety.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Eating disorders include anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, and dysfunctional eating patterns. Many psychologists and other mental health professionals consider eating disorders to be food addictions, meaning food is being used in an addictive way (similar to drug or alcohol addiction). Certain substance abuse treatment programs will have treatment for eating disorders as one of the services offered. An eating disorder may also present as a co-occuring disorder or dual diagnosis alongside drug and alcohol addiction.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Families have the opportunity to participate in education and support groups to increase their understanding of addiction and mental illness. This process helps them learn about themselves and their roles and responsibilities in the recovery process. With this important information in hand, the family has a greater opportunity to reunite and start interacting in a more helpful and healthy manner.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

DO NOT SEND ANYONE YOU LOVE HERE. The staff couldn't have cared less. My first day there (scared, overwhelmed, detoxing) a lady introduced herself as "my therapist." I never saw her again during my 10 day stay. During my intake interview, I revealed a childhood trauma I had never told anyone else. It was never mentioned. Why ask if you're not going to help? Their group therapy I found to be the equivalent of arts and crafts, and goofing off. The food was so terrible, I almost got sick one evening from just the smell of the cafeteria. I would be embarrassed to serve that to anyone. I didn't eat for 3 days, not a word from anyone. Safety is a joke. You can pop out the metal shower drain covers. You can use your imagination for what to do with those. There was one positive note, a staff member named Maggie. She was great. She took time to talk to and listen to me. However, it was too little, too late. I'd rather die than go back.

If you had asked me years ago, I would have a completely different rating. This place has went so downhill. I have so much more to say, but ill make this brief. Staff talk about patients and make fun of them in front of others behind their backs, they break hippa, and worse they sent someone home who was crying saying she would commit suicide the moment she left and no one would listen. The doctor even told her that she couldn't be helped anymore and if she chose to commit suicide that wasn't her fault and if the family would sue her she's got a bunch of documents to bring to court. And myself well, i got kicked out just because someone I knew was being brought in as a new patient and they wouldn't let me finish my treatment. The supervisor is wicked and Sandy is a heartless doctor. I hope you care for your family and never allow them to go to Brentwood springs!!! Brentwood only makes people worse. You literally have to sign papers stating if you die its not their fault. There are only a small very very small amount of staff who actually care about their patients. Oh and if you only go cus they used to let you smoke. They're getting rid of that privilege too and no longer have community cigs. Please people if you or a loved one need help, please go anywhere else!!! This place only hurts people more! They also say that borderlines just want attention and don't need help. They agree in other countries that it's right for them to euthanize people who have BPD because they think they can't be helped.
