About Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center

Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center is an alcohol and drug addiction treatment center based in Ball Ground, Georgia. They offer medically supervised detox and inpatient treatment services to adults. They have a program specifically designed to treat active military members, veterans and first responders. They take a whole person approach to treatment, not only discussing the mental aspect of addiction, but also tackling physical, social and environmental aspects.

They created their veterans program to facilitate social connection, giving you access to peers who can relate to you in an incredibly unique way. Most of the programming in this service offering is done in groups, building a sense of camaraderie that lasts even after treatment is complete. They’ll take you through a number of topics relating to healing in the context of your experiences. These include learning how to set boundaries in your relationships, controlling your anger and building a support system.

One thing I like about Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center is that they make it easy for family members to be involved with their loved one’s recovery journey. They encourage family members to make frequent visits to see their loved one’s progress. And if they believe it will help you, your therapist may suggest family therapy sessions as part of your treatment program.

They also have a family program available to all inpatient residents at no extra cost. Every three weeks, they offer a two-day workshop. This program aims to educate family members on the effects of addiction and establish healthy communication dynamics within the family unit. They look at the harmful effects addiction can have on relationships and look at ways to repair that damage during and after recovery. They also help family members examine their roles in the addiction and facilitate open conversations about changes that need to be made. This not only supports the resident through their recovery, but also their family members as they navigate loving someone who has experienced addiction.

This program does nothing for those coming off suboxone. They're well aware that for those who have been on suboxone long term the withdrawals last significantly longer then the taper they provide. It's completely unacceptable for the amount they are paid to allow a resident to go through terrible withdrawals for almost the entire duration of the program. Not only are you not able to be present in groups but sleep is practically non existant. For those who are on suboxone I would highly discourage considering this program.

Don t go here! I m so disappointed in this place. My husband got accepted and just because he had to go the emergency room to get a catheter put in cause of medical reasons they kicked him out. I have never in my life heard of such stupidity. He was really wanting to get help! But no thanks to this place he won t be getting help from here. Left him at the hospital with no way home just left him on the streets and now I got to drive 2 hours to come and get him. Shame on this place and I hope they can live with this on their conscience!! If I could give less than one star I would.

My daughter was told she had a bed here and she had already done the paperwork and then when she called two days before she was due to arrive, they told her there had been a miscommunication and she was now on the waitlist. John was very very rude to her on the phone, and brought her to tears. No one at a rehabilitation center should be treating anyone with a disease or addiction that way. Shame on you, John we will be telling everyone about how you treated our daughter and not to come to this place for treatment.

Accepted Insurance

Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Per session payment lets you pay for each treatment at the time of service. You may also pay for a certain number of sessions up front and then pay for more if needed. This format allows you to tailor the financial investment to your specific needs and avoid having a large lump sum payment due at the end of the treatment program.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
The residential treatment program at Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center is Georgia’s leading treatment program designed to help those suffering from drug & aolcohol addictions and co-occurring disorders such as depression and anxiety. Program length averages 35 to 45 days. Upon admission, each resident receives a complete assessment from the caring staff. This evaluation helps the treatment team create the best possible individualized treatment regimen to facilitate your recovery. As they progress through the residential program, their treatment plan will be updated to keep in line with agreed upon goals. Once they have completed the program and are ready to continue their recovery outside of Blue Ridge, the staff will make sure that all the appropriate tools have been put in place.
12-step icon12-Step
At Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center, they believe it is vital to provide support to the family and loved ones of their clients who struggle with addiction and mental illness. Blue Ridge is one of the few programs in Georgia offering a family program that is provided at no additional cost to family members and loved ones of clients that are currently in their residential treatment program. They know how crucial the support of family and loved ones is, so they wish to help those closest to the individuals they treat. They encourage family visitations as they afford family members the opportunity to see the progress their loved one has made in his or her recovery journey. They provide family sessions throughout each client’s stay as deemed appropriate by his or her therapist.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
A drug intervention in Georgia is designed to encourage an individual to get the treatment they need. This effort aims to break through resistance and motivate the individual to get help. The process typically involves loved ones sharing their concerns with the individual and how their substance use has affected those who care about them. A professional interventionist can help guide this conversation and explain from the clinical side how treatment can be beneficial.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Detoxification is the process of allowing a toxic substance to leave the body. If an individual has been dependent on a substance for some time, detox may be an uncomfortable or challenging experience. The symptoms each person may experience during a drug & alcohol detox program will vary based on the length of time the individual was taking the drug, the dose, the use of additional substances and the individual’s overall health. That is why Blue Ridge in Georgia offers a dedicated, medically-supervised, detox program.

Treatments

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
seniors-program thumbnail image
Seniors Program
Nearly one million adults age 65 and older live with a substance use disorder. Treatment providers who specialize in senior care understand the social, psychological, and physical effects of aging and how they relate to recovery. They can help clients address particular challenges and risks they may face as they get older such as overdosing and medication interactions and dependencies.
hiv-aids-program thumbnail image
HIV/AIDS Program
HIV/AIDS programs support disease prevention and management in high-risk individuals in recovery. Individuals who engage in intravenous drug use and other addictive behaviors are at a higher risk of becoming infected with HIV. Rehab centers that specialize in treating this population typically have a high number of nurses, physicians, and psychiatrists on staff who can make sure both their medical and mental health needs are met.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Terrible immediate staff. All are non eventful and decisions at at a crippling level. In the world of reality non functional in a private sector. Terrible to the point of digress. Money is the key at this place. Insurance is a viable key. I saw patients get dropped off at a a shell station with no help. Money is a major problem. I do not recommend this place

I have been through a couple of rehabs, both were great experiences in their own way, but I greatly appreciated the staff here, from techs to nurses to counselors. Many have been through recovery themselves, and the level of care and empathy was apparent from day 1. They handled my detox well... I still had symptoms, which is expected, but they made me as comfortable as possible. I'm not sure where the negative feedback is coming from, because after my brother passed and I relapsed, they did everything possible to help get me back on the right track. The groups are educational and worth attending, and I absolutely loved small group and Experiential days. Charlie, Julia, Jen, Deb, Alexa, John, and Jess were all amazing and truly cared about our recovery. Highly recommend for anyone who is ready to start their recovery journey. Thank you, Blue Ridge.

I am a participant in the Intensive Out-Patient (IOP) program run by Blue Ridge Mountain Recovery Center (BRMRC). I have only great things to say. I am very happy.I love BRMRC's decision to vary which counselor presents educational material or leads small group activities. The staff is excellent. Each person offers their unique perspective on the core steps making up recovery. Listening to the same people becomes tedious and I fear I d tune out. I would not learn as much. I treasure the opportunity to see subjects from each counselor's viewpoint. Each presenter s emphasis on different aspects based on their experience gives me a more rounded perspective. I find the principles that resonate the most with me which form the basis of my personal recovery plan.My fellow participants at BRMRC, my fellow addicts, have become my brothers and sisters. We share a common disease. We learn to be open and share personal stories, however difficult. In sharing, we get to know ourselves better and we get to help each other gain strength and resolve. We learn we are not alone, and that in unity, we are more likely to sustain our recovery.I owe a special shout out to Marcos; he answered my call for help and walked me through BRMRC's program. He was upfront explaining the difficulty I was having finding a Center that accepted Medicare (BRMRC does not!). He chaperoned me through BRMRC's process and did his best, I believe, to ensure I was accepted. I was thrilled when I learned I could attend. I will forever be thankful for Marcos s role in my recovery.BRMRC has my complete endorsement. Your chances at recovery are greater if you are lucky enough to attend, in my opinion. In the end, recovery depends on me. At BRMRC, I receive the knowledge, tools, group activities, and support from which I build the assurance and confidence in the success of my recovery.

I went here recovering from opioid abuse. Honestly around my 4th day I wanted to leave due to my own withdrawal symptoms but the nursing staff was very attentive. I decided to give it a couple more days. By the time I was through with the program I didn't want to leave. I met some incredible people that I still talk to. The staff was great. Nearly everyone had been through recovery and made me feel very comfortable opening up. I learned so much about how addiction works and how to combat it. They gave me the tools to become the person I lost through so many years of drug abuse. I can't say enough. Shout out to Alexa, Charlie, Clint , Deb, everyone really.

The one star is only for the tech's HARLEY, ALEXA & ERIC. They truly care about people and it SHOWS. Unfortunately 3 techs aren't gonna be able to make your stay the way it should be though.First of all I've never been to a rehab that REQUIRES detox patients to go to group. That makes no sense but of course they want to be able to bill your insurance, all they care about is MONEY. DONT GIVE IT TO THEM.This is an awful place, techs have favoritism, certain things make no sense: like why is my therapist and small process group therapist two different people. On the phone they lied and said I'd have the same person for both. I wasn't even told who my therapists were till I HAD TO ASK MYSELF. They want you to go groups yet leave you hanging on so much info. I feel bad for the first timers that this is their first rehab experience. Also they send people to PHP (the next step down) before their 35 days is even done with. Also doesnt make sense, PHP is supposed to be AFTER 35 days/inpatient. They also randomly took my sorority keychain off my keys when I wouldn't even have access to my keys regardless. Why are they tampering with peoples personal items? Why did they keep my ring in the locker but allowed others their jewelry? Also random things were in my bags from the locker which could have been another clients... The rules aren't applied to everyone. They aren't transparent with a lot of things. They have unwritten rules that nobody knows about until you see a client doing it. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME HERE.

Edit 2/16/24: Yesterday, the fifteenth was the completion of my third year without drugs or alcohol. If you want to get sober, you can come here and they will give you every tool you need to achieve it. I think its important to keep editing this as time goes on; if nothing else to show that rehabilitation is not just a pause in use, but can provide a life long solution. If you are willing to do the work, you can take your life back. I PROMISE you that ;) Also, a lot of us need to continue intensive treatment even after we are discharged and there is absolutely nothing wrong or shameful about that. There are different options for different needs, and you don't have to take it as a slight from your counselor.I wanted to edit my review, but I am not sure if this does or just posts another entirely. Either way, it has been 7 months since I wrote that review and I am still sober and active in AA; I just passed 18 months a week or so ago. It is tough to put into words how positive and life changing this facility was for me in a very desperate time. If any of the staff recognizes the name, I think you'll all be shocked to know I chair a meeting every Wednesday, it is always one of the best parts of my week. Initially, I was very VERY skeptical of any kind of 12 step program, but it combined with the individual sessions and fellowship I experienced here allowed me to live a life I truly did not believe was possible. I have every single thing that was promised to me and then some.I wanted to take the time to point out a few things that were exemplary about my session there that I didn't post in the first place. First, when I was a client there I was very heavy and used an inhaler, it was the relatively early days of COVID and at the time I believed myself to be high risk. I had a concern about my sleeping situation because of this and it was addressed immediately and fully. Secondly, a staff member and I had a disagreement and it was also addressed timely and fully. My point being that the people here truly understand the difficulty of early sobriety. They worked hard to not only address my addiction, but my trauma and anger as well. I am thankful for it too, because now I continue to address my trauma and anger, as well as my addiction with a therapist. I am not sure if I would be in the same situation if not for the initial thirty five days at blue ridge, honestly.I am not perfect, a work in progress, but I am a hell of a lot better than I was 18 months ago. If you want it bad enough, the people here will show you how to get it. Since leaving, I decided to do an outpatient program and continue going to meetings. I got a job offer shortly after in the mountains of CO and took it. I changed a lot of things but it took a lot of time. I have lost about 70 pounds since I left and now feel like I am healthy, to some degree, in all aspects. I have a sponsee now too, and he's doing really well. I say all that not to brag, but as an example of how the promises that you hear, that sound too good to be true, will absolutely materialize if you work for them. I am still not religious, but am very spiritual since my time here.I hope to keep updating this review as time goes on. Its interesting to see how my perspective has changed in the past 7 months and it likely will continue to. I've gained a lot of clarity back, but in that process I have gained myself as well. The people here, all of them, are there to do their best to help you. Especially Jeff.
