About Beaches Recovery

Beaches Recovery is a drug and alcohol treatment center in Jacksonville. Their approach to treating addiction centers around treating the mind, body and spirit. Clients will typically begin their treatment at the Tides Edge Detox Center. From there, the staff utilizes numerous activities and treatment modalities to help patients recover. This facility also has extensive experience with treating individuals who are struggling with co-occurring disorders. Some of the programs offered at Beaches Recovery include residential treatment, intensive outpatient, detox and sober living.

One thing I like about this facility is that it has multiple programs tailored to specific groups. The facility provides drug and alcohol treatment programs designed for veterans, first responders, college students and many other groups that have specific needs.

They also provide separate rehab programs for men and women. Clients can receive treatment for addictions to marijuana, alcohol, opioids and many other substances. Beaches Recovery also offers a variety of therapeutic services from evidence-based treatments to holistic therapeutic approaches.

Patients can expect to be treated with evidence-based therapies such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT). The holistic therapeutic approaches provided include yoga, mindfulness and nutritional therapy. Patients will also be able to participate in therapeutic recreational activities such as surfing, fishing and basketball.

The staff will guide patients to treatments that fit with the addiction they have and the goals that they want to achieve. An aftercare program will be available to patients after they complete treatment. Clients will continue to attend to receive support through counseling sessions, group sessions and 12-step groups.

The treatment center has accreditations from the National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers and The Joint Commission.

I would definitely recommend the tides edge detox center for anyone looking to challenge their addiction head on. The staff is brilliant and the administration really seems to care abt the clients. Beaches on the other hand has been quite the stressful experience for most of the clients during my stay. Clinical team, therapists, and case managers are all amazing. However, upper administration, the owner, and a tech at the women s house act like she hates her job and treats clients like prisoners and has an incredibly condescending attitude (I believe her name was sandy) It s not helpful for anyone s sobriety to feel like a child in the care of some very tone deaf adults. Large changes were made suddenly and without warning on more than one occasion since my stay began at beaches. These decisions directly changed multiples individuals plans including where they were going to live on short SHORT notice, and whether or not they would complete the program at all. I doubt it will stay like this forever, but you can definitely not expect consistency from the team running the organization. Thank you to Danelle, Seth, Rex, Monique, Jason, Tyler, Austin, Cody, Jake, Jessica, and several others for making this program as enriching as possible for me.

CHANGING RAPIDLY. PLEASE READWhen I arrived 3 weeks ago, I was taken aback by the fact that the downtrodden apartments were not pictured on the website, only an apartment that no longer exists. I stayed however because I felt this would be the best place to focus on my recovery. Over the course of 3 weeks, they have changed, manipulated and made up rules, taken away priveleges for no reason other than saving a buck and gone from worrying about recovery to worrying about the bottom line. The field trips to the beach and other advertised places are nearly non existent now and because of the need to lower costs and move women into the mens apartment (more on that later) both the men and women in the mens apartment have had their beach priveleges stripped for the sake of no co mingling. They previiusly allowed both houses to walk the beach every morning where the houses would meet for the sunrise and then return to our respective apartments. We spend all day around each other in groups and meetings but the lack of ability for the in house techs to do their jobs and monitor the home has resulted in the women being kept in what amounts to jail and the guys not allowed to even walk into the parking lot or glance at the women we have spent time with every single day with no issues. Its turned into a 6th grade prison camp focused only on money. 5 years ago, 54 million dollars was embezzled by an owner of which only 10 million was to be paid back in 5 years time. It has gone from a legitimate recovery center to a money grab in the span of 3 weeks. We are taught to do whats best for our recovery. Being in a center that puts it 2nd or 3rd is not accomplishing that. Steffanie, a primary therapist, has been the only bright spot in a sea of disorganization and greed. Its do as we say and not as we do. They preach communication and restraint while displaying none themselves. Do your own homework. The older reviews are no longer valid and some are from employees friends and families and not legitimate patients. Power drunk management and a facilty that is punishing the patients for the conduct of the staff. There are several other facilities that will treat you with compassion, respect and like an adult. This is not the place. Judge it by the tenure of its therapists and the patients who leave early. Not the fake website.

Accepted Insurance

Beaches Recovery works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Financial aid can take many forms. Centers may have grants or scholarships available to clients who meet eligibility requirements. Programs that receive SAMHSA grants may have financial aid available for those who need treatment as well. Grants and scholarships can help you pai for treatment without having to repay.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Military members, veterans, and eligible dependents have access to specific insurance programs that help them get the care they need. TRICARE and VA insurance can help you access low cost or no cost addiction and mental health treatment. Programs that accept military insurance often have targeted treatment focused on the unique challenges military members, veterans, and their families face.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs are a collection of highly individualized services designed to promote long-term recovery. These services evolve as your needs change. Case managers and recovery teams typically begin formulating the rehab aftercare service plan early in the recovery process to facilitate your reintegration back into the home, workplace, and community.
12-step icon12-Step
12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober Living Houses (SLHs), aka sober homes or halfway houses, are safe, substance-free, supportive living facilities for those recovering from substance abuse. Ideal for those who've just been through inpatient or outpatient treatment, SLHs are supervised environments with rules that support sobriety, such as curfews, shared chores, and therapeutic meetings. Residents are also often trained on life skills and coping skills to make it easier to transition into society. SLHs also provide a strong sense of community that can lead to the kind of deep and lasting connections with other sober individuals that supports a new, healthy lifestyle.
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
If a person with a substance use disorder continually denies their problem or refuses to get treatment, a drug intervention in Florida may be necessary. Intervention services can help mediate the intervention by providing an addiction expert. This professional can de-escalate situations and facilitate a healthier discussion between the individual and their loved ones. Specialists can also help families handle issues they don't know how to navigate on their own.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in Florida provides quality treatment to help individuals overcome dependency related to a wide range of addictive substances. Programs address both the physical and mental aspects of addiction in order to help you make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.
lgbtq-program thumbnail image
LGBTQ Program
Recovery is most successful when clients feel accepted and validated by their peers and treatment providers. Facilities that offer LGBTQ-inclusive programming are committed to creating a safe space where everyone can grow and recover without fear of judgment or discrimination. They will have dedicated policies in place to create a safe and supportive environment that fosters free expression.
military-program thumbnail image
Military Program
Serving in the military is both mentally and physically challenging, and can result in trauma that persists even after combat ends. Military programs are tailored to the specific and often complex needs of active duty personnel, veterans, and military families. Clients often access these programs through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Equine therapy provides a unique experience for individuals and groups. Through direct connection with a horse, a client is able to explore life issues, enhance insight and develop personal goals. The horse is the focus for this experiential approach. By utilizing the strength, intuition, and expressiveness of the horse participants develop their own methods for transition. The horse’s responsive presence provides feedback and reflection for the participant. Equine Therapy provides a safe and active environment to explore solutions to life changes. Areas of focus for Equine therapy can include: Trust, coping skills, self-esteem, depression, grief, loss, anger, team building and self-harm behaviors.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Motivational Interviewing (MI) is a clinical approach to helping people with substance abuse issues and other conditions shift behavior in positive ways. It is more goal-oriented than traditional psychotherapy, as MI counselors directly attempt to get clients to consider making behavioral change (rather than wait for them to come to conclusions themselves). Its primary purpose is to resolve ambivalence and help clients become able to make healthy choices freely.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

During couples therapy in Florida, your therapist will take steps to get to know you, help you identify feelings, explore the past, develop solutions, and help you learn skills to manage relationship challenges. This process will allow you to work through conflict and strengthen your relationship.

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

Many family members want to love and support those who struggle with addiction, but those good intentions can sometimes manifest themselves as enabling behavior. One of the key focuses of family therapy is how individuals can express their love and support without enabling their loved ones. This might include learning how to set emotional or financial boundaries, which may feel unloving but can actually result in stronger individuals who work harder to stay sober.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

Art therapy is an expressive group therapy wherein addicts are encouraged to freely convey their innermost thoughts and feelings. This form of expression empowers them to communicate things they may not be able to verbalize. Many addicts are greatly helped through art therapy for drug and alcohol addiction, particularly those who suffered abuse or were otherwise victimized.

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

A total nightmare. No air conditioning in the 2 main group rooms, no air conditioning in the vans that transport the clients 4-6 times a day. They make impulsive decisions & rules up daily that cater to Beaches Recovery financially with no regards to the clients or their recovery. It is no longer seperated by men and women, but is fully transitioning into co-ed housing. Some days there are up to 6-7 dogs in the rehab facility just running loosely. This place has completely went downhill since recent years. I am a 2018 alumni that has returned here for treatment in 2024 & didn t realize it took a turn for the worse.

I have nothing but good things to say about Beaches recovery and Tides Edge. Healing really does begin there. As someone who's unfortunately been to a lot of treatment centers, I do feel a little qualified to accurately give them a five-star rating. The therapy you will receive is top quality, the facilities are very nice and a stone's throw from the beach. The staff from the top down, inside and out are wonderful people who will truly care about you and be there to help you! No matter what, I will always be grateful for beaches and to all who work there! If you need help and are struggling, please reach out to Chris C or call the main number, you will get the help you need I promise!

Thank you Beaches Recovery for giving me my life back. This is a wonderful facility for helping with addiction and self-realization while encompassing comfort, compassionate care and recovery. From the moment I arrived I knew I was in the right place. The staff genuinely care for each and every individual.
