This place is a joke, and I should have known because I work for a different CSU and it's a joke too. Dr okopala was my "psychiatrist" and then couldn't think of a medicine to put me on because I already take Seroquel. She finally decided I should stop taking that and take caplayta. Which made me 1000% worse. I couldn't even walk. I asked if stopping my high dose of Seroquel (300mg) was a good idea I've been on it for 5 years. She said probably not. I asked her what she thought my diagnosis was and she listed the exact 4 I told her I had already been diagnosed with and they were wrong. After all that I asked her for another for work since I've been out for two weeks with psychosis. She said she didn't do that. I told her I work in a crisis unit! I can't even create functional sentences. She said I could get the transcript because she said I should stay home till my meds start working. So I got the transcript and not a word she said was on there. And only half of what I said was on their right. Oh and then magically I get to see her next week instead of 30 days away. I'm gonna have a few harsh words with her this time. Or ask for another Dr who I can pronounce their name at least. And all those 5 star ratings with no explanation are either employees or fake accounts

Accepted Insurance

Advantage Behavioral Health Center works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient rehab enables clients to receive addiction treatment while continuing to work and reside at home. Many programs offer evening, night, and weekend services so that clients may receive treatment on their own schedule. Outpatient treatment modalities typically include addiction counseling, recovery-focused life skills training, and/or medication assisted treatment (MAT). Many programs also provide step-down care, including partial hospitalization (PHP), intensive outpatient (IOP), and standard outpatient services, to align with clients' evolving needs.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

A quality drug rehab in Georgia can help you overcome addiction. This environment is designed to help you address the complex issues contributing to drug dependence. The goal of treatment is to give you the tools you need to make a full recovery.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

If I could rate this experience with 0 stars, I would without hesitation. My recent visit with my brother to this facility was nothing short of disappointing and distressing. Urgently needing to see someone, we were met with a receptionist who, after making us wait, ushered us into a room and had my brother sit across from a Clinical Psychologist or so they claimed.Unfortunately, this individual's behavior and approach were far from professional and compassionate. Instead of providing a safe and understanding environment, she delved into asking my brother uncomfortable and unnecessary questions. It was evident that she had access to his information and diagnosis in their system, yet she continued to press him in a manner that was insensitive and personal.Dealing with mental health issues requires a level of empathy and understanding that was sorely lacking in this encounter. Individuals with non-neurotypical processes may struggle to communicate or respond in typical ways, and it's imperative for professionals in this field to recognize and adapt to these differences. The psychologist's insistence on a rigid and confrontational approach only exacerbated the situation, making my brother feel more uneasy and misunderstood. Forcing him to walk away. It begs the question: Is this the standard of care for someone dealing with mental illness? It's disheartening to witness such a lack of empathy and professionalism from someone who is supposed to be equipped to handle these delicate situations. I would strongly urge this "professional" to undergo some self-reflection and seek out additional training or support, as it's clear they are in need of it themselves. If you are unable to approach your work with compassion and the ability to empathize, perhaps this isn't the right profession for you. The impact of the actions and demeanor of people working at this facility can greatly affect individuals seeking help and support, and it's crucial to uphold the highest standards of care and understanding in mental health services.

I have been seeing Craig for many many years. He is an amazing counselor and deserves 5+ stars. I cant stress enough how Craig is an Angel in disguise. Advantage Behavorial as a whole has become worthless though hence the 1 star. The psychiatrist won't listen to patients which leads to misdiagnoses, which results in the wrong medication being prescribed and then still refuses to listen when you tell them how horrible the medicine was. I have ADHD and they swore i was bipolar. We wont speak about how detrimental bipolar medicine was. I had to go to a different psychiatrist for testing because Advantage straight up refused to test stating they knew what they were talking about and that my Primary Care doctor was wrong. Trying to schedule an appointment is a nightmare. I've been trying for 3 WEEKS! Someone finally answered today instead of sending me to voice-mail and they were very rude and short with me and then connected me with the wrong counselor. Because of this, I'm heartbroken that I will have to find a new counselor since I can't make an appointment to see the same one I've been with for 23 years.

On Wednesday, 09/22/21, I reached out at a critical time to get assistance with the Advantage Behavior Health Systems located in Winder, Georgia. I spoke with Mackenzie A. Trammell. I asked specifically what the cost would be, as this is and was a deciding factor for me as to whether or not I would have made the appointment. She stated to me, "Most likely zero, but no more than $10-$15". I agreed to schedule the appointment. Today, Wednesday, 09/29/21, Mackenzie A. Trammell called me back to say I needed to pay the co-pay for my intake appt that took place on Friday 09/24/21, which was $48 and some change. I informed her that was not what I was told and went over the whole conversation that we had just a few days prior; that I had given her my income information and everything to determine the cost prior to my appt. Mackenzie apologized and said she did, in fact, recall the conversation, but wasn't able to get the appt entered until the next morning to know the cost for sure. I told her that wasn't my fault and that I was told it would be no more than $15. She went on to say she understood and thought that's what it would have been, and that she had never seen the cost percentage come in this high and that it was all new to her. No one ever called me on Thursday 09/23/21 (the day after I made the appt) to say the rate had changed, nor did they mention it during my intake appt on Friday 09/24/21. I'm just finding out about this today, FIVE DAYS after my appt. I spoke with the office manager, who said she could get my percentage down from 60% to 30%, which would take the rate down for FUTURE appts, but I would still have to pay the full $48 and change. After speaking with them for HALF AN HOUR, they still made me pay the $48! I want my money back. That's all. I want no future business with them, nor will I refer them to anyone. But, I NEVER should have been asked to pay a bill that is more than 30% what I was told I would have to. This is a scam and feel after all of this stress/anxiety put on me on top of what I was ALREADY dealing with that I deserve AT THE VERY LEAST my $48 and change back! I don't think that's too much to ask. They should have at LEAST notified me PRIOR TO MY APPT that the rate had changed. I could have then made the decision to cancel or continue and pay the $48, but I wasn't given this choice. This is NOT OK to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable situation. If I could give ZERO stars, I certainly would!

I would like to start by saying in the past I have actually referred friends and family to Advantage in Winder. I have used their services for my medications and an awesome counselor for years. I have never had an issue with a doctor or nurse there or my counselor Craig and to this date that hasn't changed. But unfortunately the way it organized has changed and totally become unprofessional. You can no longer deal with the office that you go to. If you have a problem or cannot make an appointment you have to go the 800 service and they never answer. Then when they do answer are rather short and hateful. Taking the patients right to deal with the office they recieve their assistance through and the people they are accustomed to dealing with has proven to be a mistake. The service provided is not worth the hassle now.
