intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient

Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.

aftercare iconAftercare

Clients receiving services in a rehab aftercare program have generally been stable and sober for a period of weeks and months and no longer require high intensity treatment. Many have stepped down from inpatient rehab to outpatient treatment. Others have been discharged from formal treatment but need support in maintaining their sobriety. Clients typically work with their case manager and care team to develop a long-term care plan that aligns with their unique needs and goals.

12-step icon12-Step

12-step programs are addiction recovery models based on Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). A number of substance abuse programs (including some drug and alcohol rehab centers) use the 12 steps as a basis for treatment. Beginning steps involve admitting powerlessness over the addiction and creating a spiritual basis for recovery. Middle steps including making direct amends to those who've been hurt by the addiction, and the final step is to assist others in addiction recovery in the same way. 12-Step offshoots including Narcotics Anonymous (NA), Cocaine Anonymous (CA), Dual Recovery Anonymous (DRA), Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous (SLAA) and Gamblers Anonymous (GA).

sober-living iconSober Living Homes

Each sober living home in Utah is a residence, not a treatment center. This setting does not provide clinical or medical treatment, but many residents attend recovery groups or outpatient rehab while staying at the home. The setting, also called a halfway house, offers a balance between structure and accountability and living in the "real world," to help people transition from treatment to everyday life.

partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.

24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care

In order to ensure your safety during the withdrawal process, rehabs offer 24-hour clinical care in Utah. You have access to experienced medical staff around the clock, and they can adminsiter treatments or perform clincial interventions that lessen withdrawal symptoms and make you more comfortable. Teatments can include medications, nutritional supplements, and mental health counseling.

medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox

Drug and alcohol addiction often takes a heavy toll on one's body. Over time, a physical dependence can develop, meaning the body physiologically needs the substance to function. Detox is the process of removing drugs and/or alcohol from the body, a process that can be lethal if mismanaged. Medical detox is done by licensed medical professionals who monitor vital signs and keep you safe, healthy, and as comfortable as possible as you go through detox and withdrawal.

Heart icon Treatment

alcohol iconAlcoholism

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

drugs iconDrug Addiction

When you enter a drug rehab in Utah, the process usually involves four stages: treatment initiation, early abstinence, maintaining abstinence, and advanced recovery. Treatment methods can rely on medications, counseling, or both, in either an outpatient or inpatient setting.

check iconDual Diagnosis

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

mental-health iconMental Health and Substance Abuse

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

opium iconOpioid Addiction

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Hand holding medical sign icon Clinical Services

inpatient-file iconCognitive Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

dialectical iconDialectical Behavior Therapy

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

equine-therapy iconEquine Therapy

intervention iconGroup Therapy

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

desert iconMotivational Interviewing

The foundation of motivational interviewing in Utah rests on four pillars: partnership, evocation, acceptance, and compassion. The therapist collaborates with the client, encouraging them to explore their options and make informed decisions about making changes in their lives.

eye-movement iconEye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing

EMDR is a therapeutic modality originally developed to help process trauma. In an EMDR session, a patient is prompted to undergo eye movements that mimic those of REM sleep. This is accomplished by watching a therapist's finger move back and forth across, or following a bar of light. The goal is repetitive sets of eye movements that help the brain reprocess memory, which can significantly reduce the intensity of remembered traumatic incidents. Associated memories can heal simultaneously, leaving patients significantly calmer, more stable, and more emotionally relaxed.

family iconFamily Therapy

Acqua Recovery Family Programs knows families and friends are affected by the addiction too – and their welfare is equally important to them. That’s why the facility provides education, counseling, and support to loved ones and address everyone’s needs and concerns. At acqua, patients’ families matter and are an essential cornerstone to sustained recovery and well-being. Every three weeks, acqua presents family weekend at the facility, where family and friends attend with their loved ones in treatment to learn new skills and gain insight around addiction, trauma, disease concept, and communication. Request details with the contact information provided.

recreational-therapy iconRecreational Therapy

Recreational therapy (aka therapeutic recreation) uses creative and fun activities to help with addiction recovery. Recreational therapists lead patients in entertaining and engaging activities like sports or games; art (drawing, painting, sculpture); drama, music, and dance; and/or community outings (field trips) to improve patients' physical, social, and emotional well-being.

art-brush iconCreative Arts Therapy

Creativity is inherently healing, and can help those in recovery express thoughts or feelings they might not otherwise be able to. Creative arts therapy can include music, poetry/writing, painting, sculpting, dance, theater, sandplay, and more. Unlike traditional art, the final product matters far less than the experience of creation and expression itself.

medical-detox iconExperiential Therapy

Experiential therapy is a form of therapy in which clients are encouraged to surface and work through subconscious issues by engaging in real-time experiences. Experiential therapy departs from traditional talk therapy by involving the body, and having clients engage in activities, movements, and physical and emotional expression. This can involve role-play or using props (which can include other people). Experiential therapy can help people process trauma, memories, and emotion quickly, deeply, and in a lasting fashion, leading to substantial and impactful healing.

I worked there for about four years, through the end of COVID. The support staff and clinical team are wonderful caring people. The grounds are gorgeous and I was lucky to work everyday in such a beautiful environment with caring co-workers. If you are looking for a place of healing for a loved one struggling with addiction and/or mental health issues, Acqua Recovery is an amazing place that also brings families into the healing journey of the client.

I'm a veteran who is currently attending Acqua. This place saved my life with the programs and staff available. The integration from military life back to civilian life is out of this world. The staff care about you and your treatment so much that you start seeing the light at the end of the path. If you wan't to get help Acqua is the place to come.

This was the first rehab I ve attended. I went to this rehab at the beginning of 9-2022 based off a personal reference from someone who previously attended years before. My experience was overall emotionally horrendous and the ways I observed specifically two counselors and the ways they interacted with people was not ok. The ways they spoke to the group, I noticed the words and communication they used and it was so demeaning. You have a group of people seeking help but along with that, I think such an important and intricate part of recovery is being in an environment that shows and teaches healthy ways of communication and interacting with others. I noticed the communication skills of staff and how it felt that we were spoken down to, spoken to as though we were less than children and I would never even speak or communicate with a child the ways certain staff addressed us. I have Crohn s disease and had been through a 2 year period of dying. This was my main concern going into treatment that I would have the physical support of food my body can accept to continue to live and thrive. The rest, I trusted my closest support and chose to place myself in this environment. I did not have food choices. I talked with the chefs 3 separate times asking and striving to educate them in the foods I needed. The basic food requirements for the others that were there with me were not met. Many times, multiple people were still hungry after eating. The morning sustenance was beyond less than needed. There were very few options on hand and I watched many people not getting the dietary requirements needed just to start a positive and conducive day. I lost 7 pounds within one week of being at Aqua and the therapist I was designated to, after speaking with her one on one for 1 hour, and despite my continual actions I took to eat, she chose to tell me that I have an eating disorder and she was referring me to me to somewhere else. Aqua was horribly understaffed along with not providing almost all of the things represented on their website. This was the number one thing during my time there that I verbally heard from from so many there, what they saw represented and why they chose to go to Acqua did not exist anymore.I have never written a review on anything, I choose to stay quiet and stay safe within my own little world. It s taken me almost a year and a half of recovery and growth to write this review. I understand that many others have had a positive experience and I recognize this. My personal experience, the experiences I observed and was personally told to by others there, was less than desirable.I would never refer even my worst enemy to Acqua, let alone someone I love and care for. There were so many areas that were beyond less than to be desired. After months of researching and putting myself out there again, I went to Pinnacle Recovery.. They were beyond amazing and my experience there aided so much in my recovery- mentally, emotionally, physically.Acqua remains and is one of the main things among others in my life of not being heard, not being seen, not being addressed as a human being should be. I would never go back there. Never.

Do not attend the sober living that Acqua provides during PHP and IOP. they will kick you out on a days notice and leave you homeless for offending the house manager. even if you traveled 1700 miles for treatment. Treatment is unfair and rules are enforced erroneously. Treatment center prioritizes chronic relapses and the environment will be like walking on eggshells for anyone with differing world views.

Everything was good in the beginning (most groups are super long though) but they accepted a client that made all of the women incredibly uncomfortable and we begged to have him transferred but they refused. Being in groups with him was so infuriating, that I would often leave. They kicked me out on my 30 days - 3 days before finishing the program. The staph was excellent but the therapists really dropped the ball on this one. After I was gone, the client continued to prey on the women and was finally removed. I loved the place until they let me down in the end and the experience left a bitter sweet taste in my mouth. They let a place that s meant to be safe for everyone be a dangerous place for women and eventually even some of the men. Also a few women were harassed and objectified by some of the staff.
