Levels of Care

inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants engaged in 12 step programs receive intensive peer coaching (sponsorship) and community support. Spiritual development as a means of achieving psychological and emotional healing and growth is the cornerstone of 12 step recovery, but religious affiliations are not required. Meetings are free, anonymous, and open to the public, though specialized formats are available, including groups for seniors, teens, and family members. Evening, night, and day meetings are conducted year-round in most communities.
sober-living iconSober Living Homes
Sober living homes in California offers an intermediate sober environment that has less structure than inpatient rehab but more than typical home environments. This makes it a good option for those who have concerns about transitioning back to the "real world" after treatment. Residents can typically live at the halfway house as long as they want, if they are willing to follow house rules. These may include a curfew, chores, and maintaining a job.
24-hour icon24-Hour Clinical Care
During the first phase of recovery – detox – it is crucial to have 24-hour clinical care in California. This care provides constant monitoring in order to ensure your safely and comfort as you progress through the withdrawal process for drug or alcohol addiction. Licensed professionals prescribe medications to treat withdrawal symptoms and provide frequent monitoring to ensure your safely as addictive toxins leave your system.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
When addicted, quitting your drug of choice suddenly can be dangerous. That's why experts agree a medically assisted detox is the safest way to remove addictive substances from the body. Usually done in an inpatient setting, your vitals signs and overall well being are consistently monitored and rechecked in order to keep you safe and ensure the detox is successful.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Drug rehab in California teaches participants constructive ways to stay clean and sober. Treatment revolves around helping individuals stop using the substance they are addicted to and learn healthy habits to avoid relapse.

Opioid rehabs specialize in supporting those recovering from opioid addiction. They treat those suffering from addiction to illegal opioids like heroin, as well as prescription drugs like oxycodone. These centers typically combine both physical as well as mental and emotional support to help stop addiction. Physical support often includes medical detox and subsequent medical support (including medication), and mental support includes in-depth therapy to address the underlying causes of addiction.

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Clinical Services

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

While in rehab treatment, you may work on developing various life skills to help you in long term recovery. These may include resilience, interpersonal skills, and self awareness. The focus will be on developing healthy habits for self care and relationships so you have the skills you need to manage day to day life.

Recreational therapy is included in alcohol and drug addiction treatment to focus on engaging you in healthy activities that reduce your cravings and improve your overall health and well being. When you participate in group sports, art, or nature walks, you develop new interests and find a meaningful way to spend your time and reduce your cravings.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

I am so sorry that you have caught us during a bad time. We have been closed a few weeks due to the nature of the fires. I can assure you we are open again Monday through Saturday 9-5. Once again, so sorry for the inconvenience. Hope to see you in the near future. God bless you and your family, Sandy!

I discovered U-Turn for Christ as a thrift store so I am doing a review as a thrift store only although I am aware of what their mission is.The only negative opinion I have about this thrift store is items are a little disorganized. Most times only 1 person is at the store to watch the register so it's understandable. This place has a good variety of items, from furniture to trinkets to exercise equipment. Being close to Tahoe I saw many skis and snowboards. There are also clothing, household items, tools, electronics, building material, and even appliances. I have seen brand new items here. And best of all, they sell for pennies on a dollar.

Thank you! Yes, we are a little understaffed, trying our best, but volunteers are always welcome

I attended in 2017. God brought my mom home sudden and by surprise after I left U-Turn. Because of U-Turn my mother got to see my life change before she died. I had new dreams, new life goals, new aspirations, found Gods intent in my life, and my parents were proud. Jesus cleaned up my life. I am always very happy, but I found it is possible to wake up everyday in shock with how happy my life can be. I didn't just have regular joy; but really really awesome joy, and purpose.Serving in the military, seeing brothers I served with commit suicide, living in third world countries, and every other trial or difficulty I had been through in my life, none compared to the tormenting and painful 4 months that followed my mom's death. The only reassuring thing in my grief was knowing God changed me and my life for a reason, he showed me what my job was supposed to be, and showed me what true happiness was. After my time at U-Turn was finished, somehow, the program was still helping me through the grief process, because of my newfound joy and purpose in life. Even 3 years later, I am more happy than I have ever been. My money and time spent there is the best life investment I have ever made. God used Pastor Jeremy and Mrs. S to give me so much.U-Turn is awesome. Jesus used U-Turn to come into my life and change it.

Wonder how long they keep things. Father of one of my kids committed suicide and they donated all his belongings left after a sale. Was hoping to find something of remembrance if at all possible.

I am so sad to hear for your loss. We keep all items until they sell through the store. We are more than willing to help you with this situation and return any items that my be of sentimental value.

I met my husband while he was serving in the ministry and have had the opportunity to see what it did for him and for many other men's lives to be changed. I have seen relationships restored, families reunited, and individuals flourish and go on to serve, becoming a part of something bigger than themselves. This ministry can truly make the selfish selfless as these men are given structure and a clear path on their walk with the Lord, but it's not without diligent work on everyone's part. From my observation, individuals who are able to acknowledge and accept the role they have personally played in the trajectory of their lives and are willing and dedicated to making that U turn toward a different and better way are the ones who succeed. I see it as a daily, even hourly choice for these men who are committed to change. It is by no means easy and it is by no other means that it can be done.
