About The Commitment House

The Commitment House in Elizabethtown, Kentucky, focuses on providing person-centered addiction treatment to those seeking recovery. The center's goal is to instill in people the tools they need to obtain and maintain long-term sobriety by helping to change the way those dealing with substance abuse live and think.

When you choose this CARF accredited center you can expect detailed care planning that the center treats as your roadmap to recovery. This means that you will receive individualized treatment that caters to your exact addiction treatment needs, whether you’re addicted to drugs or alcohol or dealing with a co-occurring condition.

The center offers holistic treatment through detox, residential treatment programs, partial hospitalization programs, and residential transitional treatment programs. This type of treatment ethos means you will recover in a trauma-informed, unbiased and nonjudgmental environment.

If you choose to detox and undergo residential treatment at this facility, you can expect medical withdrawal management to help with the cravings and withdrawal symptoms of detox. You should expect to undergo residential and medical detox for 28 to 30 days. During that time you’ll receive counseling and the tools you need to live a healthier life.

After detox and a residential stay, you can choose to enroll in a transitional residential treatment program. Past patients have found the 24-hour support incredibly helpful and the 12 Step meetings to be an integral part of their recovery. While enrolled in this program you should also expect to learn how to reintegrate into society by attending clinical group sessions five days a week. You will also be offered case management services and peer support.

The center accepts most major insurance providers, but speaking with your insurer before enrolling is best. The center also offers self pay options to ensure patients without healthcare coverage can seek treatment.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Medicaid is a state based program that helps lower-income individuals and families pay for healthcare. Medicaid covers addiction treatment so those enrolled can use their coverage to pay for rehab. When a program accepts Medicaid the client often pays very little or nothing out of their own pocket.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.
inpatient iconInpatient
Residential treatment programs are those that offer housing and meals in addition to substance abuse treatment. Rehab facilities that offer residential treatment allow patients to focus solely on recovery, in an environment totally separate from their lives. Some rehab centers specialize in short-term residential treatment (a few days to a week or two), while others solely provide treatment on a long-term basis (several weeks to months). Some offer both, and tailor treatment to the patient's individual requirements.
intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive outpatient programs (IOP) specialize in high-level care for clients requiring robust support. This includes those in early recovery, those in crisis, and those stepping down from inpatient care. Clients typically participate in a minimum of nine treatment hours per week, but many intensive outpatient rehabs offer up to 20 hours of service weekly. Their primary treatment modalities generally combine psychotherapy and recovery education. Medication assisted treatment (MAT) for alcohol and/or opioid recovery is widely available.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Rehab aftercare programs ensure clients' access to continuing care after the completion of intensive inpatient treatment. Outpatient care is often considered a component of drug rehab aftercare, but most clients continue to receive support services after being discharged from formal treatment. Service portfolios are customized to clients' unique and evolving needs and are often designed in collaboration with clients' case managers and care teams. Peer coaching, career counseling, relapse prevention, and 12 step program induction are standard.
12-step icon12-Step
Participants in 12 step programs attend regular group meetings, which are free, anonymous, and open to the public. Most communities offer multiple meetings daily, with specialized formats, including programs for seniors, teens, and families, widely available. 12 step recovery prioritizes participants' spiritual, emotional, and psychological growth and healing to support their sustained sobriety. Participants also receive one-on-one mentoring from a self-selected sponsor as they work through the 12 steps of recovery.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
Often beneficial for individuals who don't require 24-hour supervision, a partial hospitalization program (PHP) can be an alternative to inpatient rehab or a transitional option. PHP treatment typically involves 6 to 8 hours of treatment per day, up to 5 days a week for an average of 90 days. PHP treatment often includes relapse prevention strategies, medication management, and other behavioral therapy interventions. While the cost of a partial hospitalization program can vary, it is often covered by insurance.
medically-assisted-detox iconMedically Assisted Detox
Medical detox is the process of weaning your body off addictive substances in a medically supervised environment. An on-site medical team may include physicians, nurses, therapists, and other clinical staff whose job it is to monitor your vitals and provide medications if necessary to alleviate withdrawal symptoms. Their goal is to keep you as safe and comfortable as possible throughout the process.. Medically assisted detox programs are individualized to meet your specific needs and can vary in length, but they tend to last 5-7 days.

Treatments

Substance rehabs focus on helping individuals recover from substance abuse, including alcohol and drug addiction (both illegal and prescription drugs). They often include the opportunity to engage in both individual as well as group therapy.

Programs

adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive behavioral therapy in Kentucky involves learning to recognize unhealthy thinking patterns and developing problem solving skills to cope with life's challenges. It will help you have greater confidence in your abilities so you can change your patterns of behavior and break free from substance abuse.

Typically, dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) in Kentucky involves four types of therapy sessions. You'll participate in a pre assessment, skills training in groups, individual therapy, and telephone crisis coaching. The goal is to improve your skills for coping with daily emotions and life challenges.

Men and women in Kentucky participating in group therapy learn to express their feelings and struggles with drug addiction in a non judgmental atmosphere. Your peers can offer you empathy and encouragement because they understand your journey to recovery. This fosters a sense of community and belonging that may extend far after group therapy sessions.

In individual therapy for drug and alcohol addiction, the therapist and patient work together to address the challenges and triggers that drive addictive behavior. This offers a customized approach to a healthier, substance free life.

Several techniques are key to motivational interviewing in Kentucky. Your therapist will use open ended questions, affirm your strengths, reflect your responses back to you, and summarize your responses. This allows you to identify any discrepancies in your current situation and your future goals, which can motivate you to make changes.

Trauma therapy provides you with a safe space to work through a trauma that you witnessed or experienced. Trauma informed therapy supports you to understand your emotional and physical responses and develop healthier coping mechanisms when exposed to triggers in the community. This improves your sense of self confidence and empowerment.

Family therapy provides families with a structured environment to address the complexities of addiction. You work with an experienced therapist to develop effective strategies for supporting your loved one's recovery while focusing on the well being of each member of the family unit.

There are two core components to experiential therapy. First is a therapeutic relationship that allows the counselor to guide the client toward change. Second is an experience that allows the client to examine their feelings, values, and beliefs.

This place saved my life. And the tools that I left with have changed everything for the better. I could never say enough good things about this place to do it justice. Over 2 years later, I still recall my visit here as one of the most profound experiences I've ever had. I arrived a hopeless wreck, and I left substantially changed. These people loved me back to health and taught me how to see to the heart of what had kept me sick. To anyone seeking treatment, this is the real deal. Look no further.

I am truly blessed to be in this program. The Commitment House in Louisville, Kentucky has made my recovery process comfortable and satisfying. If you want to get sober and maintain your sobriety in a healthy environment, pick up the phone and reach out to Melanie to start your new journey. Melanie is a complete rockstar at her job. There hasn t been a day that has gone by where she hasn t been genuinely concerned for all her clients. She genuinely checks on each and every one of us to reassure we are retaining knowledge and that we have the right materials to maintain our sobriety. She has provided me with a stress free transition from my last sober living house to her compass. With me not being from Louisville, I have been able to rely on Melanie to assist me with essential things I need for survival, and also obtaining contact information for outside resources that can help with needs that are out of her means. This journey can be a bit scary but being under such amazing quality of care I have now gained security, guidance, dependability, outstanding fellowship, accountability, love, and support. I was nervous at first about getting sober but being here I have grown so much day by day and it is getting easier to deal with this disease of alcoholism. Thanks Melanie, keep doing what you are doing. IT WORKS IT REALLY DOES!!

I came straight out of jail with no money or insurance. They took me and and assisted me with those things. They helped me gain employment. The case worker helped me get my transcripts for my GED so that I could get employment. The owner and his wife went out of their way to help me get my license back. The Commitment helped me become a MAN. Taught me how to treat others and what accountability really meant. I will forever be grateful for The Commitment House and what all they have done and continue to do for me and my family.

Staff are a mess, but it all started with the management, Marcus for one is a total nut case but since he knows the owners his aloud to Harass the women , if ur a white human ur treated like trash , I had a guy actually take a sold metal rob from a cabinet threatening to hit ppl and they did nothing. Heck they let him go 12hours and came back high, telling ppl he knows the owner he can do whatever he wants I left thank you letters to the staff since they are never ever Appreciated for doing the nest they can with a crazy manager. And that same guy took my letters even after I asked him if it was OK to write everyone, cuz he demanded it was Inappropriate. His just mad I didn't write him one. NO THIS ISNT A PLACE TO GO THREW ONE OF THE HARDEST CHOICES IN LIFE TO MAKE. Please understand it may have been great once , far it has Fallin now . Marcus needs to go and now. To save what was built to be a wonderful place. Yes my stuff was stolen also and I had to have an officer get my stuff back while I chose to go to STEPWORKS..... now that is a great rehab, there full alot cuz ppl know it's a better place don't waste ur time here. Atlease not while his there. Grow up creepy Marcus stop pulling women in ur office asking if there talking sexual about you yeah we know!!! They talk and if 3 different ppl say it without ever meeting each other or talking then it's got to be true. Alot of great ppl work there and they are miss lead it's sad. Makes a person almost want to Relapse just from the drama.
