About The Center – A Place of HOPE

The Center - A Place of HOPE is a private luxury mental health treatment center located in Edmonds, Washington, in a secluded neighborhood. There are several treatment programs that include mental health and substance use disorder treatment.

The center takes private pay of which the cost varies depending on the level of care and amenities you choose. The facility also accepts insurance from most providers. They don’t accept state funded insurance programs or HMOs. They do offer financing options through CareCredit.

There’s an emphasis on privacy and security for people who have a high profile in their community. If you’re a celebrity, performer, church leader, athlete or other high profile person, they’ll work to ensure your anonymity.

When you commit to the program, you’ll have a minimum stay of five days. Most people stay two weeks or longer. You’ll start with an initial exam that includes physical and psychological assessments. They’ll give you a custom treatment plan based on your situation.

The plan addresses any issues you’re having such as alcohol or substance use, depression, anxiety, grief, loss, eating disorders, compulsive behaviors and other stressors such as burnout. Along with psychological and dependency issues, you’ll get a health and physical exam to include a fitness assessment.

Clients stay in private suites with numerous amenities. The programs offer healing opportunities from the trauma of sexual and emotional abuse, physical abuse, sexual assault and date rape. From eating disorders to anxiety, you’ll work to get to the root of your unhealthy coping skills to build a better foundation for balanced mental health and physical fitness.

There’s also a track for men with eating disorders. Most eating disorder programs focus on women only, but men also suffer from eating disorders. The programs are for adults of both genders 17 and older.

There are also spiritual renewal programs for those experiencing stress or burnout in their ministry. You’ll have a chance to renew your relationship with God while dealing with chemical dependency or mental health issues. You’ll learn about processing trauma and how to love yourself so you can be there for others.

One former client cited the one on one programs as valuable and influential in his healing. Other clients felt their stay was one of the best experiences they’ve ever had.

I have never felt more like a dollar sign!! I originally attended this facility earlier this year. Due to unexpected circumstances I had to leave sooner than expected. I recently returned again and was horrified at how badly things had gone downhill. They have recency lost some staff, and while that is a normal part of the business, they did not adjust the number of clients they accept to accommodate the number of staff they actually have. While they used to have four tracks for clients, they now only have three. This means the group rooms are so full that not everyone will even fit around the tables in the rooms. Additionally, as many people are there for trauma, being so crammed into small spaces was regularly triggering. While at The Center I had to take medication previously prescribed, and did so properly and under the guidance of staff. I had a bad reaction to the medication and ended up very ill for three days. Their response, they kicked me out of the program because insurance would not pay for me to not participate . This is when I looked and discovered that this is a FOR PROFIT business that is only worried about how much money you can bring DR Jantz to increase his portfolio. They did not ensure I was medically stable before discharge, did not make sure I had physical strength to pack, although their own doctor had been concerned about my level of dehydration and weakness just a day before. I had to beg for an extra 30 min so I would even have more than an hour to pack my stuff. In the end they would not even drive me and my luggage to the hotel (less than half a mile away) upon discharge because of liability .If you want to help Dr Jantz get richer then by all means, go here, but if you want help, I would look anywhere else. Please feel free to ask questions. I am very open about and happy to share my experiences, both good and bad.

I increased my review stars given a call from Brian Murphy, Outreach Director. They hope to improve admissions returning calls. The Center was a five-star facility My son has stayed there twice. However, this last time, their admissions system is not working well. We tried for 2 weeks to get in and no one was returning our calls sufficiently. 1) We were told we needed to fill out an online intake to start the process, which was not clear the first time, causing a delay of one week. The online intake was very involved, so I needed to stay on the phone with my son for 2 hours to help him fill it out given he is so depressed. This was not the case the last time we attended. Such detailed questions should be facilitated by a staff person in my professional opinion. Anyway we filled out the paperwork and submitted it. Then we were given an appointment day for the intake evaluation. 2)The intake person never called my son and stood him up which is really hard for someone who is so depressed. Previously, It was very unlike The Center not to keep an appointment like that and, 3) not to answer literally 15 plus calls that I made to their facility trying to get things set up. Obviously something has changed in the admissions department maybe they're down a staff or cutting costs I don't know. However it is very dangerous to simply not return calls and is against good practice for patient care and rights. I am more than happy to increase the star rating when this has been fixed. I genuinely believe in The Center and we need good rehab and mental health care in our state, which I believe The Center is. I am only writing this because I couldn't get through and talk to someone about the issue I hope this helps fix the problem, because I care. And I will adjust this rating when the problem has been fixed. I care not only for my son but also for other future residents. And a side note, a picture of my son is actually featured on your website. Thank you, Dr. Brockschmidt

Location

Accepted Insurance

The Center – A Place of HOPE works with several private insurance providers and also accepts private payments when possible, please contact to verify your specific insurance provider.

Other Forms of Payment

Private insurance refers to any kind of healthcare coverage that isn't from the state or federal government. This includes individual and family plans offered by an employer or purchased from the Insurance Marketplace. Every plan will have different requirements and out of pocket costs so be sure to get the full details before you start treatment.

Self-pay involves paying for treatment out of your own pocket. You can use savings or credit, get a personal loan, or receive help from family and friends to fund your treatment. If you don't have insurance or your insurance plan doesn't cover a specific program, self-pay can help ensure you still get the care you need.

Sliding scale payments are based on a client's income and family size. The goal is to make treatment affordable to everyone. By taking these factors into account, addiction recovery care providers help ensure that your treatment does not become a financial burden to you or your family, eliminating one barrier to care.

Medicare is a federal program that provides health insurance for those 65 and older. It also serves people under 65 with chronic and disabling health challenges. To use Medicare for addiction treatment you need to find a program that accepts Medicare and is in network with your plan. Out of pocket costs and preauthorization requirements vary, so always check with your provider.

Addiction Treatments

Levels of Care

intensive-outpatient iconIntensive Outpatient
Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) are for those who want or need a very structured treatment program but who also wish to live at home and continue with certain responsibilities (such as work or school). IOP substance abuse treatment programs vary in duration and intensity, and certain outpatient rehab centers will offer individualized treatment programs.
aftercare iconAftercare Support
Completing a drug or alcohol rehab program shouldn't spell the end of substance abuse treatment. Aftercare involves making a sustainable plan for recovery, including ongoing support. This can include sober living arrangements like halfway houses, career counseling, and setting a patient up with community programs like Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) or Narcotics Anonymous (NA).
heart-hands iconIntervention Services
Intervention services helps family or friends of addicts stage an intervention, which is a meeting in which loved ones share their concerns and attempt to get an addict into treatment. Professional intervention specialists can help loved ones organize, gather, and communicate with an addict. They can guide intervention participants in describing the damage the addict's behavior is causing and that outside help is necessary to address the addiction. The ideal outcome of an intervention is for the addict to go to rehab and get the help they need.
partial-hospitalization iconPartial Hospitalization Program
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) is a short-term form of intensive rehab, usually for those with acute symptoms that are hard to manage but don’t require 24-hour care. PHPs have structured programming (i.e. individual and/or group therapy), and usually meet 3-5 days a week for around 6 hours (i.e. 9am-3m). Some PHPs are residential (patients sleep on site) and some are not, so patients sleep at home. PHPs can last from 1-6 months, and some offer transportation and meals.
outpatient iconOutpatient
Outpatient Programs (OP) are for those seeking mental rehab or drug rehab, but who also stay at home every night. The main difference between outpatient treatment (OP) and intensive outpatient treatment (IOP) lies in the amount of hours the patient spends at the facility. Most of the time an outpatient program is designed for someone who has completed an inpatient stay and is looking to continue their growth in recovery. Outpatient is not meant to be the starting point, it is commonly referred to as aftercare.

Treatments

The goal of treatment for alcoholism is abstinence. Those with poor social support, poor motivation, or psychiatric disorders tend to relapse within a few years of treatment. For these people, success is measured by longer periods of abstinence, reduced use of alcohol, better health, and improved social functioning. Recovery and Maintenance are usually based on 12 step programs and AA meetings.

Effective drug rehab in Washington integrates care for the whole person, offering comprehensive solutions to addiction. Treatment methods address mental, physical, and relational aspects of substance abuse.

Many of those suffering from addiction also suffer from mental or emotional illnesses like schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, depression, or anxiety disorders. Rehab and other substance abuse facilities treating those with a dual diagnosis or co-occurring disorder administer psychiatric treatment to address the person's mental health issue in addition to drug and alcohol rehabilitation.

A combined mental health and substance abuse rehab has the staff and resources available to handle individuals with both mental health and substance abuse issues. It can be challenging to determine where a specific symptom stems from (a mental health issue or an issue related to substance abuse), so mental health and substance abuse professionals are helpful in detangling symptoms and keeping treatment on track.

Programs

teen-program thumbnail image
Teen Program
Teen programs are designed to address the unique pressures teens face, pressures that can drive them to experiment with dangerous, addictive substances. They need programs that meet them exactly where they are and give them tools for long-term recovery. Therapy can help teenagers understand and work through underlying issues so they can reclaim the life ahead of them.
adult-program thumbnail image
Adult Program
Adult rehab programs include therapies tailored to each client's specific needs, goals, and recovery progress. They are tailored to the specific challenges adult clients may face, including family and work pressures and commitments. From inpatient and residential treatment to various levels of outpatient services, there are many options available. Some facilities also help adults work through co-occurring conditions, like anxiety, that can accompany addiction.
program-for-men thumbnail image
Program For Men
Men face specific challenges and concerns when seeking addiction treatment. Gender-specific recovery programs help them tackle these issues head-on in an environment that's focused, targeted, and distraction-free. It also gives them the opportunity to connect with and learn from other men who have been through a similar journey and can offer support for the next step.
program-for-women thumbnail image
Program For Women
Rehabs for women provide a safe, nurturing space for female clients to heal. These treatment programs consider the specific obstacles that women can face during recovery and place a special emphasis on mental, social, physical, and reproductive health. They explore how each woman's experience has shaped the trajectory of their substance use, addressing issues such as sexual abuse and past trauma.
young-adult-program thumbnail image
Young Adult Program
Young adulthood can be an exciting, yet difficult, time of transition. Individuals in their late teens to mid-20s face unique stressors related to school, jobs, families, and social circles, which can lead to a rise in substance use. Rehab centers with dedicated young adult programs will include activities and amenities that cater to this age group, with an emphasis on specialized counseling, peer socialization, and ongoing aftercare.

Clinical Services

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a therapy modality that focuses on the relationship between one's thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. It is used to establish and allow for healthy responses to thoughts and feelings (instead of unhealthy responses, like using drugs or alcohol). CBT has been proven effective for recovering addicts of all kinds, and is used to strengthen a patient's own self-awareness and ability to self-regulate. CBT allows individuals to monitor their own emotional state, become more adept at communicating with others, and manage stress without needing to engage in substance abuse.

Whether a marriage or other committed relationship, an intimate partnership is one of the most important aspects of a person's life. Drug and alcohol addiction affects both members of a couple in deep and meaningful ways, as does rehab and recovery. Couples therapy and other couples-focused treatment programs are significant parts of exploring triggers of addiction, as well as learning how to build healthy patterns to support ongoing sobriety.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is a modified form of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a treatment designed to help people understand and ultimately affect the relationship between their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. DBT is often used for individuals who struggle with self-harm behaviors, such as self-mutilation (cutting) and suicidal thoughts, urges, or attempts. It has been proven clinically effective for those who struggle with out-of-control emotions and mental health illnesses like Borderline Personality Disorder.

Research clearly demonstrates that recovery is far more successful and sustainable when loved ones like family members participate in rehab and substance abuse treatment. Genetic factors may be at play when it comes to drug and alcohol addiction, as well as mental health issues. Family dynamics often play a critical role in addiction triggers, and if properly educated, family members can be a strong source of support when it comes to rehabilitation.

Group therapy is any therapeutic work that happens in a group (not one-on-one). There are a number of different group therapy modalities, including support groups, experiential therapy, psycho-education, and more. Group therapy involves treatment as well as processing interaction between group members.

In individual therapy, a patient meets one-on-one with a trained psychologist or counselor. Therapy is a pivotal part of effective substance abuse treatment, as it often covers root causes of addiction, including challenges faced by the patient in their social, family, and work/school life.

Life skills trainings involve all the skills a person must have in order to function successfully in the world. These include time management, career guidance, money management, and effective communication. Truly successful addiction recovery is based on the ability to not only live substance-free, but to thrive. Life skills teaches the practical necessities of functioning in society, which sets clients up for success in life, and therefore sobriety.

Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT) is a way of getting nicotine into the bloodstream without smoking. It uses products that supply low doses of nicotine to help people stop smoking. The goal of therapy is to cut down on cravings for nicotine and ease the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal.

Nutrition therapy, aka medical nutrition therapy (MNT), is a way of treating physical, emotional, and medical conditions through diet. Specific dietary plans are designed by professional nutritionists or registered dietitians, and patients follow them in order to positively affect their physical and mental health.

Rational Behavior Therapy (RBT) is a form of cognitive behavioral therapy meant to be short-term and comprehensive. It was intended to help clients become more self-sufficent and move forward without the need for expensive, ongoing therapy. It includes an emotional self-help method called “rational self-counseling,” the purpose of which is to give clients all the skills needed to handle future emotional issues by themselves, or with significantly less professional help.

Trauma therapy addresses traumatic incidents from a client's past that are likely affecting their present-day experience. Trauma is often one of the primary triggers and potential causes of addiction, and can stem from child sexual abuse, domestic violence, having a parent with a mental illness, losing one or both parents at a young age, teenage or adult sexual assault, or any number of other factors. The purpose of trauma therapy is to allow a patient to process trauma and move through and past it, with the help of trained and compassionate mental health professionals.

I came here with little hope and very high anxiety to the point i was throwing up daily and couldnt keep even chicken broth down. After being at the center for only a week i was able to eat 3 meals a day, use skills to help lower my anxiety and depression as well as learn to commuicate my feelings. The therapist, staff team and every one you meet here are so welcoming and kind.My therapist team helped me process alot of past trauma and gave me tools to use during triggered moments. I would recommend this place to anyone cause the information i have learned here has truly made a huge difference on my life. So, if you are hesitating on coming DO IT cause you will be soooooo thankful you did :)

They put religious elements into some groups, regardless of what you believe. Steer clear if you don t want someone else s religion interfering in your ability to get proper treatment. This should be spelled out on the site before you get there, not thrown in without telling you.

Response from the owner2 months ago
Colleen, thank you for your review. We create individualized programs for each client and meet them where they are. We do offer faith-based tracks for those who desire that as part of their Whole Person Care treatment program. But for those who do not, we do not include it. We honor each client s spiritual beliefs and are proud of the results achieved by clients of all faiths, as well as those you do not espouse any religious affiliation. If we can be of assistance to you in any way, we would love the opportunity to talk with you.

The Center brought focus back to my life and gave me the ability to see some positive things to live for. Not only that, and probably more importantly, I learned the reasons behind my anxiety and depression which were multiplied by severe PTSD. I know my journey for mental and emotional well being is lifelong, but now, thanks to my time here at The Center, I have the tools to effectively work through the struggles in my life. Most importantly, I found the ability to love myself through the eyes of our Lord, instead of only seeing myself through the brokenness of my life.

Response from the owner3 months ago
Dale, thank you for your inspiring review. You touched on some key elements to a successful program understanding the why, and then the how, and then being kind and gracious to yourself. Each of these is so important to lasting recovery. Thank you again!

After a season of deep burnout, depression, and trauma I am ready for a new start. I ve been in full-time pastoral ministry for over 20 years. If you are a pastor, clergy person or other helping professional considering coming to The Center, I want you to know that there are people from all walks of life here. I found a place and a community where I can just be myself, not my job. Over the last four years stresses and traumas have piled up for me, including the pandemic, fires, deaths in the congregation and community, and a number of injuries, including a serious cycling accident which brought on PTSD. At The Center, I learned how my way of being in the world, which was to do it all, now, and to do it right, made all of this much worse. I ve learned where those tendencies come from, but more importantly, I ve gained skills to stay present in the moment, balance my feelings and thinking, make wise decisions, set limits, and get through really difficult things without making it worse. If you are reading this, you need this. I wish everyone could come to The Center. Leaving my family and community for an entire month was incredibly difficult, but that separation from my life and responsibility gave me the space to begin to heal, and believe a new way of being in the world was possible. The integrity, skill, kindness, and authenticity of the staff, and the excellence of the program cannot be overstated. New life is possible Take the leap.

The Center has ordained clergy on staff, in addition to licensed medical staff, therapists, and counselors. Our mission is to provide the very best care possible to all of our clients, who come from a diverse background. We are grateful to read the program was so beneficial for you. Wishing you continued success in the months and years ahead!

Listen up fellow atheists/agnostics- do NOT pass on this place just because of their religious affiliation. I was really hesitant to give the center a chance, especially given my beliefs and my own religious trauma. I ve spent six weeks at the center, and it has completely changed my life.Yes, there is a big bible verse on the wall when you walk in. Yes, a LOT of the staff are religious. Yes, Dr. Jantz s books/curriculum have some religious elements. That being said, the faith element here is OPTIONAL- you are not required to go to any faith based classes. When you do encounter faith, it is used to illustrate a point, not to preach at you. I d say the clientele is about 50/50 between religious/nonreligious, and no one shoves it in your face. The staff I ve encountered- particularly in the eating disorder program- are supportive and compassionate to the core (shoutout to France, Jenna, and Magda!), and meet you where you re at regardless of your faith.I don t think it is an exaggeration to tell you that the center has saved my life. I highly HIGHLY recommend you give it a chance.

This place has played a crucial role in my healing in many ways. I did a 4 week track without extension and what I have learned here is worth a lifetime. I intend to apply the skills that I have picked up from my classes in my everyday life going forward. My one on ones with my personal counselors have been very valuable and influential. The community here is amazing and filled with hope. This program has set me up for success and I am looking forward to seeing what s to come in my future.

The admissions director, Candace, does not want people who have unstable housing to get mental help. She lied to us every step of the way saying my insurance would not cover it despite them being a provider and did approve it immediately. Also said could do tour after phone appointment, but then said after approval, and then after approval refused to schedule tour. Then she lied about asking for insurance for full 4 weeks, only asked for 2 weeks (verified with insurance) so that I would unnecessarily have to pay the other two weeks if started program but then said because I don't have stable housing I can't afford program and therefore no treatment. She had said opening this week but then decided no openings until July because she believes lower financial people should not get help. Would not at least do tour like had said nor even give a date in July to start. All of this very unprofessional and illegal. She is actually costing the company money by refusing to ask insurance for 30 days and refusing treatment to client. Candace is corrupt and if the owner of this establishment had any interest on the reputation of this company Candace should be fired immediately. Repeatedly ignored and hung up on as well. I am looking into attorneys to sue as well for discrimination that Candance repeatedly committed against me. While Candance is their corrupt director, believing only the rich should receive mental health help, then this place is not a place of hope, it is a place of corruption and discrimination. Think twice before calling this corrupt company.

Therapists are amazing, groups are amazing, leader ship is amazing! I learned so much at the center and was able to process and understand my traumas better and develop a better relationship with my body and food here! France is an amazing therapist and the eating disorder program is by far the best I ve encountered. If you have the opportunity, go here! I received four sessions of individual therapy a week, with two separate therapists, learned so much in the groups, and it was really able to connect with nature in the beautiful town of Edmonds!
